Norrington Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 did you guys know that the dutchman ca eat other ships? i dont know how but you should hinge the bow(mouth looking thing) no, i'm afraid it cannot. its called decoration, prrobably to make a ship that it's chasing think it's a sea monseter or just for shock purposes. or it just could be a decoration. only davey jones whould know, and he's tough to find i can garuntee you that. Quote
Norrington Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 All I'm Saying is that the flying dutch man cannot eat other ships. the moth looking bow is a decoration so that a ship being chased by the dutchman thinks he's being chased by a sea monster. Quote
Norrington Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 srry about the double post but, also how could the flying dutchman eat a ship the same size as it? what would happen to saaid ship? it couldn't digest it. KNow the Awnser? its because it can't! Quote
ghoulrealm Posted November 5, 2006 Author Posted November 5, 2006 I would assume if it did "eat" other ships, it would just chew a big enough chunk of a ship's hull to sink her. not to swallow an entire ship. Though I think your'e right about it being astetically menacing only. Quote
Scouty Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Or just rip it to itty bits. < If it is said so, then that. The seaweed will be pretty hard to achieve, cause I don't think most seaweeds are pure green. And bright green on a dark gray ship might not go so well together. Quote

Ah, but trans-green seaweed reflects the color under it! Quote
Scouty Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Hmmm, I didn't know there were translucent ones...thanks! Quote
Governor Broadside Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 That's a nice ship, ghoulrealm. All the "greebled" detailing is unusual for a pirate ship, but in a good way. One little thing for everyone else: When you're going to post spoilers for POTC 3, please give a warning. |-/ Trying to stay spoiler-free over here... Quote
ZCerberus Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 A progress update of the Flying Ducthman since I'm taking a break from it for a short while. I don't have enough peices to finish or even really start the starboard side, and I'm broke for now, so I can't bricklink for a while either. :-( I should be able to finish the bow soon and complete deckplates and masts without a full starboard hull I also will try to work on the bley and dark grey integration or replacement. I need a good picture of the main deck as well. If anyone finds one give me the heads up *y* A might be a little late here, but I like the detailing here. You are correct, you certainly use pieces in ways most of us don't (cats and shark heads even!) As I am sure you are aware, two different shades of dark gray in there... I have the same problem with an AT-ST I built. I think it works okay on a ship such as this though, as it is kind of old, decrepit, and under water half the time anyhow! Quote
ghoulrealm Posted November 14, 2006 Author Posted November 14, 2006 I was thinking it needs some more bley dispersed thoughout the ship. Also add hints of dark green bricks in addition to some transgreen seaweeds. Sadly, I have not touched this ship since the last update :-( I've been engrossed in the aqua raiders and other brick built beast that I found lately. *y* Quote

I also dislike having too shades of brown, and both "light gray" and Mid-stone" now too. Oh well, what can you do. Anyhow, I think the two shades are okay, and I think you agree they need to be mixed in there pretty well to work, or strictly seperated. Mixing in the bley a little more could be good. I guess it just really jumps out on peices that are a large and not "normal" like the little cats etc when they are tow different shades of the same color. Quote
ZCerberus Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I was thinking it needs some more bley dispersed thoughout the ship. Also add hints of dark green bricks in addition to some transgreen seaweeds. The New Aquaraiders is full of trans green seaweed! Also, there were trans green flames out in some older underwater sets, that would work well too I think! Not that you need me to tell you that! Quote
Norrington Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 wait if you have money for lots of aquaraider stes why can't you start mor construction? Quote
ghoulrealm Posted December 14, 2006 Author Posted December 14, 2006 I had enough money for 1 aquaraider and a 5 dollar bionicle, and I coundn't even afford that! I have other expences that probably should have taken precedence. X-D Bionicle!? you may ask. Bionicle is underated on system mocs, because it is difficult to integrate inobtrusively. I'll let you be the judge when I get some images up, of the lobster alterations, that is. Perhaps you meant, why buy new products before I bricklink for ship parts?....then, If I don't get new products while the gettin' is good, I my never get them.......get it :S Quote

I don't see a problem with posting on old topics anyway, especially when they contain such excelent content as these ship diagrams. Thanks for the link! Quote
captain hook Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 X-D I hope I don't disapoint you but above the face cannon deck there is a nother canoon deck. Quote
ghoulrealm Posted January 6, 2007 Author Posted January 6, 2007 X-D I hope I don't disapoint you but above the face cannon deck there is a nother canoon deck. Yes, I have two rows of port holes. At this stage, the face ornate gundeck's port holes are a bit too low and they are not large enough for the cannons. Quote
