Piranha Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Well I decided to download LDD because it is an awesome tool. But I have a few questions: Does/can it generate building instructions? In the Expanded mode (with access to all the bricks) does the LDD Manager upload to Bricklink? It mentioned Universe mode, is that the same? Please and Thank you Quote

I don't often use lddmanager, but I thought it supports LDDextended mode. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 LDD can make instructions, but often it takes a long time and they aren't very good. Quote
Lego Otaku Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 LDD can make instructions, but often it takes a long time and they aren't very good. I gave up relying on LDD instruction process. It kept making an impossible order involving several floating pieces before the underlying support are assembled. Quote
Studbringer Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 61480 TYRE BALOON WIDE Ø68,7 X 34 Won't connect to rim, a bug ?! could really use that new tire... oh well at least old hinges, really needed one in my current project Quote
Tore M Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 I'm sorry if I missed this earlier, but did LDD get some (very) basic support for gears turning other gears and moving racks? I'm building 8049B in LDD and just noticed that I'm able to make the steering rack move a bit by rotating the gear above it. Quote

Tore M Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Manipulating a steering rack works well without any gears at least: Quote
Superkalle Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Manipulating a steering rack works well without any gears at least: Joined linkages like this has been working for several versions back, but maybe it works better now? I don't know. Quote
Piranha Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Thanks for answering guys! Yeah those floating bricks are strange. I ran into a new problem I can't seem to find these two parts This one and this one Help anyone? Quote
AndyC Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 I ran into a new problem I can't seem to find these two parts This one and this one Neither of those are currently available and there isn't a click-hinge version that can be considered a replacement. You'll have to get a bit creative to substitute for those. Quote
Tore M Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Joined linkages like this has been working for several versions back, but maybe it works better now? I don't know. Right, then that part is just me missing out earlier. As I was building 8049B, at one point I had axle 1 -> gear 1 -> gear 2 -> axle 2 -> gear 3 -> steering rack. Simplified version: Rotating anything would not work except for the slight wiggle between gears. However, if I removed gear 3 I was able to manipulate everything up to and including axle 2 by rotating axle 1 with the Increment/Decrement arrows. Afterwards, I replaced gear 3 and removed gear 2. I was then able to move the steering rack about halfway back and forth by rotating axle 2. What really beats me is that I am utterly and completely unable to reproduce this, both in the existing model and starting from scratch. Was this some one-off bug that happened to simulate mechanics? That does seem sort of weird... Quote
Esser-Z Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Woo, old hinges! Hopefully they'll follow up with the old cockpits in future updates. Quote
Calabar Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 I was looking for this hair piece in LDD Extended, but it seems there is not. The strange thing is that I remember it was available in previous versions (could be in LDD3 LU mode), because I thought to use it to reproduce a minifigure of one of my "real brick" MOCs when I had had to make a digital version of it. That moment is arrived but... I didn't find the piece! So... it is my memory that deceive me, or the piece has been removed? Quote

I went through the LDD Manager database for last release, and I couldn't find it in any previous LDD release. But I'll put in a request for it for the next release. Quote
Calabar Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Thanks. So I was wrong, perhaps I confused it with a similar one! Quote
egosheep Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 I can't get LDD Manager to open my lxf files after the new 4.1 update... anyone else having this issue? Quote
DLuders Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 I can't get LDD Manager to open my lxf files after the new 4.1 update... anyone else having this issue? Did you download the new (April 2011) update to LDD Manager? Quote
egosheep Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 (edited) Did you download the new (April 2011) update to LDD Manager? I did. Maybe I just need to reinstall it... I'll try that first. I did. Maybe I just need to reinstall it... I'll try that first. Ok, reinstalled and I'm getting the same error. When I open the lxf file, it says: Error in UnzipFiles sub: Method 'NameSpace' of object 'IShellDispatch4' failed then it's followed by: Error 53: The file "c:/etcetcetc/test.lxf" is not a LXF-file. any ideas? Calabar Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 @egosheep Share your lxf file, so we can examine it. Quote
egosheep Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 @egosheep Share your lxf file, so we can examine it. I would, but I don't think the lxf is the problem. The program won't open any lxf... even good ones I have downloaded from the forum. It has the same error on lxf's uploaded yesterday and 4 months ago. I'll try to delete everything and reinstall... perplexing. Quote
Calabar Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 I would, but I don't think the lxf is the problem. Probably it is not the file but if you share it we can confirm that! When you uninstall the software, be sure you delete the profile folder too. Try to open the lxf files with you archive software (which do you use? 7zip? Winrar? ...). The file is opened without problems? Quote
egosheep Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Opening an lxf file in winrar is no problem. I'll post one of my lxf files here later when I get home. As I said, it has the same error with a fresh lxf file downloaded from here. Thanks for your help! Quote
mithryl dlarix Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Oh, the Humanity! I was working on my 00 gundam last night, and was about 75% done the main gundam itself (not including the armaments or alternate forms or upgrades), and then this morning, when I went to open the file, it said "unable to open file". No matter what I do, I keep getting this message. Its so unfair! I don't know if I can even re-create the steps I took to make that model again! Has anyone else had this problem? More to the point, has anyone else managed to recover their work after experiencing this problem? Any advice would be appreciated. I've already tried re-installing the program, and renaming the file, but neither worked. Quote
Zerobricks Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 You can start by uploading the file, so we can try opening it? Quote
