Just found this topic, and I think it is funny all the sets with a coffee maker. My daughter and I built the #60044-1 Moble Police Unit truck a few weeks back, and the funniest part was the sliding wall that had a coffee maker built into it. As I pointed out to my wife, it is a police truck, and a cop needs his cup of joe!

I totally second the motion for post of the year !

Anyway, I think this year we only get four sets with them in......two police, one train station and I think the Arctic base has one......where it's needed must I think ?

Funny thread. Looks like it could do with an update though ;-)

The shop in the new station (60050) has a coffee machine as does the bar on board Horizon Express (10233).

I'm still building, but in the Creator Mixer, BOTH trucks have a coffee cup on the dashboard.... I'll be very surprised if there's a coffee maker somewhere, but I'm sure that it's not by chance.

What is sad is that minifig that I use for my representation on a layout is holding a coffee cup because I always have a cup of coffee with me. Depending on the Lego fan event, it may be a cold coffee beverage that I am drinking so that the aroma will not be as offensive to some of my fellow AFOLs who do not like coffee.

One place where I have seen a huge absence of coffee machines are the Friends sets. That is sad because cute little girls need to be addicted to this wonderful warm beverage that is the giver of ideas and powers modern western society. Even Clara is now a coffee drinker on Season 8 of Doctor Who.

I recall reading on Marcos Bessa's blog of his first week as a LEGO designer that he was amazed that the coffee in the design studio was free, and that there were several different kinds. Maybe this helps explain the ubiquity of coffee machines in Lego sets?

Edit: I found a post where he mentions that there was a lot of free coffee and so he kept going back for more. (The post is in Portuguese)
