def Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 That'll be $300, I got that gnome in Paris. I thought you went crazy when your wife died. If you paid $300 for a gnome, you were obviously crazy before that.
Sisco Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 That's a strange souvenir. Did you guys collect gnomes? No, it was a spur-of-the-moment purchase. Supposedly, it was made by a famous french artist. I thought you went crazy when your wife died. If you paid $300 for a gnome, you were obviously crazy before that. Actually, I payed $100 for it. But when you come in here smashing my stuff, I have to replace it somehow.
Professor Flitwick Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 No, it was a spur-of-the-moment purchase. Supposedly, it was made by a famous french artist. A garden gnome... by a famous French artist? Sorry, my old friend, but I think you were scammed. Is there an attic or a basement we've yet to search?
Peanuts Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 You paid $100 for a gnome and don't even know if it has had a fishing rod? Anyway, if smashing the gnome reveals nothing, I'd like to follow Stevie's suggestion and propose checking the lighthouse next.
Bob Posted April 14, 2011 Author Posted April 14, 2011 Let's smash the gnome, see what's inside. Ralph's "priceless" gnome is smashed. There was a piece of paper inside of the gnome, and it now sits in the pile of broken ceramic clay. A garden gnome... by a famous French artist? Sorry, my old friend, but I think you were scammed. Peanuts Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I wonder what you kept hiding from us, Ralph. Seems like it was good you destroyed the gnome.
Bob Posted April 14, 2011 Author Posted April 14, 2011 I'd like to read the piece of paper out to everyone It says "Painted by a Famous French Artist". On the back, it says, "Results Misinterpreted", in small hastily written lettering. The note was probably shoved in the hole where the hand holding the fishing rod was, where there was an opening to the inside of the gnome.

I'd like to know if the handwriting matches that of any of the people in this town.
CorneliusMurdock Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 "Results Misinterpreted" If that's supposed to mean that the boys in Washington are wrong about Mrs. Jenkins, I wish god would stop messin' with us like that. It looks like this note is the only thing of consequence we've been able to find here. Should we move on?

I had taken that portion of the note to mean that the results of the famous French artist's efforts were misinterpreted.
Fugazi Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Or maybe it's the results of the night actions that we're misinterpreting. Either way, I agree that we should move on. Your place or mine? That's a very interesting theory. I had taken that portion of the note to mean that the results of the famous French artist's efforts were misinterpreted. I doubt it!
CMP Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Well, that was pointless. I'd like to ask the general how long there's left in this chapter.
Admiral Ron Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I would like to suggest moving on to the lighthouse.
Brickdoctor Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I would like to suggest moving on to the lighthouse. I concur. The lighthouse sounds like a good option.I'd also like to suggest that we go to the lighthouse.
The Legonater Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I concur. The lighthouse sounds like a good option. I'd also like to suggest that we go to the lighthouse. I think we all know I agree with going to the lighthouse.
CMP Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I think we all know I agree with going to the lighthouse. Works for me.
Bob Posted April 15, 2011 Author Posted April 15, 2011 I'd like to know if the handwriting matches that of any of the people in this town. The handwriting samples that were produced yesterday don't match anyone present, however, not all samples were collected. Well, that was pointless. I'd like to ask the general how long there's left in this chapter. The General is not present, but there's really no set timespan for a chapter. The group begins their trek to the lighthouse.
Brickdoctor Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Once we arrive at the lighthouse, I'd like a description of the lighthouse itself and its surroundings before we enter, to refresh the memories of those who have been daydreaming.
iamded Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 The handwriting samples that were produced yesterday don't match anyone present, however, not all samples were collected. Could we perhaps then take a sample of everyone's hand-writing again?
The Legonater Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Could we perhaps then take a sample of everyone's hand-writing again? Here's an easier way: Could we have the names of everyone who's writing we have?
Peanuts Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Here's an easier way: Could we have the names of everyone who's writing we have? And we shouldn't forget the names of everyone whose shoe size we have. Can we get them as well?
