I Will be building a ship soon, but I've been wondering how i can make the ships curves without jumper bricks.

Also i was wondering if i should combine the IFS ship baseplates with Brickbeards Bounty baseplates and build a frigate.

one last thing, should i take apart my IFS, and what should i use for rigging?

Well for the curve you could also use these or these.

You could also bend 1x2 bricks like Hoxbroe did here, or just make it go wider with a stud difference.

As for the hull pieces..I don't know. You only need 1 bow and 1 stern piece so 1 ship should be enough.

The number of normal hull pieces depends on the ship you want to make.

A frigate uses about 5-6, a merchant ship 4-5, something like that. 7 or more easily makes it look a bit odd.

Good luck! (and welcome to our forum by the way)

You might want to check out the guidelines here: guidelines

The space for your account is restricted corresponding to your forum rank. to display your pics anyway, you can upload them on brickshelf or flickr or something alike and put thumbnails in here.

As for the bow: hard to tell without data. What size shall it have? I am having difficulties with the bow of my vessel meself. The main problem for me was to make it round and stabilize it at the same time. The Pickle and the Caribbean Queen resemble a similar, excellent approach for different sizes in my opinion. You might want to get your inspiration from there!

You could also use Captain Green Hair's "Build a frigate" for help, it's a great source for help and inspiration!

I used it a lot in the starting phase of my HMS Ares, as well as for the bow of the Caribbean Queen.
