I've found two older Town sets significantly discounted:

7642 Garage (http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7642-1) for 55e = ~5.8c/piece

7633 Construction Site (http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7633-1) for 35e = ~3.9c/piece

I'm not interested in these sets as such, but only for the parts. Considering the price per piece is low, I'd give these a shot but... I actually have the feeling that these sets are specifically bad in the bricks :sceptic: Particularly, they have tons of white and dark grey bricks respectively, two of my least-wanted colours. Consider I build only stuff related to Trains, but that of course include buildings and some road vehicles too.

What would you suggest?

Buy them, heaps of vehicle parts and you could take the building from 7633 and turn it into a railway HQ and the garage sections into railway workshops especially with that overhead crane !

i don't know how much discount they have there.

but if they're discounted 50% off or greater, i'll pick them for the needed parts, and sell the unusable parts.

just my two cents.

I believe 7642 used to cost between 85 and 100 depending on the place, but in the last year it was always discounted.

7633 was as high as 105 when it came out. I think this "lucky find" could be a shop pricing mistake: the label says 67e and then the discount label says 35, it might be that some clerk actually discounted this twice

The problem is that actually I don't see much "needed parts" there at all :look:

7642 is actually a surprisingly good set, both in terms of design, and pieces included. I'd most definitely recommend it, especially if it's discounted.

If you don't end buying the construction site, get it for me (then PS me and I'll send the money via Paypal). I've always wanted that set, but found it extremely expensive. I would be paying shipping costs too, obviously!!!! Cheers from Argentina

I'd buy them as well. if not the pieces, put them in storage for a while. After stocks start running out on ebay and similar sights , I believe prices will go up on these. They are, as stated above, BIG stets and do have a lot of vehicles = playability. Besides that getting these for over half off is rediculous :classic:

I would definitely buy 7633 for only Eur 35,- that is extremely cheap !!

Thanks all for the suggestions. I think the problem fixed itself because I've been stuck at home with guests all weekend and couldn't sneak off to the shop, I guess tomorrow these will be gone already :)

7642 is a okay set for parts. Mutiple vehicles and workshop possibilties.

I've seen them at 30 USD and the MSRP 99 USD.

As for 7633 I haven't seen a copy of one in a while. :hmpf_bad:

If I saw one at a deep discount like those prices, I would not heistate to pick up a copy.

I own 7642 but still need a 7633. Mainly for the mobile crane my town is lacking.

It's quite rare, but this wasn't the first time I've seen such super discount.

Here it may happen in cheap retail shop chains (typically stores selling house warez but not food) with recently discontinued sets. 7642 and 7633 are in fact discontinued, as they have been removed from the catalog in 2011, so probably they were just rushing to clear their shelf space and wanted to get rid of the last few boxes.
