Chuck Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 New Spidey sets are cool ,mega kick butts this time GOGO!WEB!!GO! You realize this is a Lego forum, right? *wacko* -l2k- Quote
JoeMI6 Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 L2K is right, it's damn near impossible that we'll see Spidey 3 sets, no matter how much we want em. In the mean time, you guys might want to take on a project like Kaminoan has here. This is probably the closest we'll get to the real deal And for those who might jump the gun, this is a custom made fig. It's not from a set and never will be. Enjoy all the same though *y* Quote
The Brick Rat Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 You realize this is a Lego forum, right? *wacko* -l2k- I hope he also realizes that that Spider-man set isn't new. It came out a couple of years ago. However, I think I can put to rest all the speculation about who currently holds the Spider-man movie license. When I was in TRU the other day they had three small Megabloks Spider-man sets with the Spider-man 3 movie logo on the box. For the curious, they were: 1947 Spider-man (with 40 pcs. to build a 'Spider-car'). 1948 Symbiote Spider-man (with 45 pcs. to build a 'Spider-boat'). 1949 Battle Damage Spider-man (with 45 pcs. to build a 'Spider-plane'). All three sets were $6.99 USD and the minifigs are the new designs with articulated elbows and knees. I found it interesting that the sets were named for the minifig in them and not for the vehicle itself. I'm also sure that even though the box bears the 'Spider-man 3' movie logo, won't see any of those vehicles in the movie. At least the LEGO Spider-man sets reflected scenes from the actual films. Zaktan of the Shadows Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Peh. Lego could have done better than that. Its a true shame. -ZotS Quote
Tomawogi Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 I think the new mega blocks spidey 3 sets look ok, the minifigs certainly look cooler that a lego one would, i like the was spidey has ripped clothing and things. I havn't seen any ofthe pictures on here though, the ones on this thread seem like the older style of spider-man mega blocks. The newer versions are on their official website: http://www.megabloks.com/en/products/brows...subCat=63&lId=0 Quote

Starwars4J Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 That is awsome, I want/need/would kill for that. Then why not just buy the decals from him and apply them yourself? :-P He usually sells his work. If all else fails you could always try contacting him about it. Quote
Zane Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 I don't get why Lego AND Megabloks can't have the license. They're two different lines which just happen to both be construction lines. It wouldn't be that bad. It's not gonna happen here, but in the future I don't see why it shouldn't.... Quote
JoeMI6 Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 I'll tell you why Zane. It's a simple rule of business. Each company would have to rush to get their sets out first, thus reducing the quality of the sets, and displeasing fans and the license's company. Also, spreading a license across two formats has never really worked. That's why multi-fomart movie license games are so bad. The result would be the same if TLG and MB shared. Also, I'm assuming that MB got the license because TLG didn't do the greatest job with the first two films. Quote
Darkness Falls Posted April 8, 2007 Author Posted April 8, 2007 Not gonna lie to you guys... those SM3 sets from Megabloks look pretty cool... especially that final battle set. Quote
Dark_Avenger Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 The good thing about the Final Battle is that, truck aside, the set doesn't look too Megabloks-ish and might work moderately well with LEGO figs. That, and it looks simply enough to replicate with LEGO bricks anyways (except those plastic orange barriers would be nice to have). Only problem is that we're missing out on a wealth of great minifig opportunities; Sandman, Harry, Venom, Symbiote Spidey... >_< Quote

I'm really thinking of buying this. Quote
Dfenz Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I unfortunately acquired most of the Spiderman sets before I actually built any!! Had I built some of them before hand I probably wouldn't have picked up the remainder because I didn't really like the Spiderman sets at all with the notable exception of Doc Ocks Hideout which I think looks very well, especially the window stickers. Leaving aside the <insert that tiresome argument> sets in the series I think that there were simply too few characters in the films worthy of minifigure fame with the result that anyone buying all the sets got multiple spidey minifigures and multiple copies of the two baddies, namely Doc Ock and the Green Goblin. This got tiresome. At least the Batman sets contain a variety of characters for playability and as someone else noted these Spiderman sets were predominantly play sets with hardly a vehicle in them - I don't count runaway trains or cable cars. The other point is that compared to other licences I seemed to be able to pick up these sets at decent discounts in local stores so whether or not they sold well is anyone's guess. I know Harry Potter also has a similar problem with multple Harrys and its playset format but that line had a wider range of characters and had an excellent concept of a modular castle that collectors, once they started would want to keep adding to. While its always worthwhile to have reasonable stand alone sets such as Hogworths Express or the Durmstrang ship for variety I think Harry Potter started to go wrong when the class rooms began to dry up. Anyway I digress. Unfortunately in my view the Spiderman's playsets didn't really have a collectabiity aspect to them. I for one am not sorry to see the back of them. Incidentally, my litmus test in all these things is my son. I recently raised the prospect of having to retire sets from display to make room for others and the Spiderman sets became the sacrificial offering to the Lego gods - at present residing on the altar that is the top of a bookshelf and only one final step away from attic immortality. Piranha Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 *sad* Megabloks got the license What is the world coming too......... :-D I saw the movie and it was great The part when Peter turned evil and was dancing through the streets was hilarious Still a great movie Some Spiderman 3 sets would be cool though All hope is not lost there is going to be a Spiderman 4 This just means more SW *sweet* Batman is okay The Batman video game looks cool though Piranha (Lego Spiderman game?) MOC's ON Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 I thought the movie was good! I hope Lego gets the liscence back and somehow create the Spidey 3 sets when the DVD is realeased. Or just make 4, 5, and 6 sets. -ZotS Quote
takuto20 Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 EDIT: I didn't carefully see that other post, so it came to me as a surprise when I found SirNadroj's folder at Brickshelf. Wow! He made a GREAT Sandman, congratulations. I'll repost the pic here because he is just the best: I was really disappointed when I realised there were not going to be any Lego Spiderman 3 sets, I really hope *we* get the license back for Spiderman 4 and so on. Lego Spiderman brought me back from my dark ages because it was a cool way to make a great city: What's not to like about the origins set? You got a wonderful lab with creative tricks, computers, a LOT of minifigs... Fusion lab had a great facade that I turned into a whole building. The cable car one with bridge and taxi was a great addition to my city layout (look at this enhanced MOC version), I could integrate a sea theme (docks, boats) without any port (of course this is going to change this year). My bank is going to be more than a wall someday; kind of like this person did but also this big. By now I'm just hoarding sand color blocks (I'll put the Harry Potter lion heads there! Wait and see!). Same goes for the underground train set: I bought 3 of them, looking for my 4th and also looking for ways to turn them into a cool thing adding the radio control thing, I hope they release another one in bley. (People, I just have no time! But really, someday I will build all this and let you see! Really!) I can't talk about Spiderman sets without getting excited; they were THAT great for me and for other people too. It is a shame we can't get more. Only bad point only: Fleshies were a pain in the butt, that is correct. But how cool would a Belltower have been? What do you say about the rundown Spidey flat? I see a cool room with bed, window to jump off... About more superhero licenses, I say... bring them on! Quote
Grand Moff Viceroy Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 I don't like spiderman. i dinot see the third movie and the sets are a bit high pricced and lack details. I dont like them and i took apart my old collection >:-) Quote
PSPguy Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 That is spam. *looks at date* Pardon my language but wtf is wrong with you? On topic: I would pay 10% more for each set if TLC somhow made em. :-) Quote
iamded Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 <sigh> I was highly disappointed when I found out Mega-bloks was making the SM3 sets. Oh well, I'll live. Castle will do fine. Quote
