Posted April 9, 201113 yr Here's my entry for the D2C Contest, a large-scale set for the Pharaoh's Quest theme: "Museum of Antiquities"... This imposing building stands in the heart of Cairo, and makes for a handy base of operations for Jake and Mac when they're between adventures. But who are those shady characters lurking outside? Surely they're not planning to ROB THE MUSEUM? Inside, the museum is a treasure trove of ancient secrets and artefacts. Hamish, the curator, is only to happy to help Jake plan out his next adventure... And whilst Mac packs away the latest discoveries for transport, something ancient wakes from its long slumber... I hope you enjoy seeing this as much as I enjoyed putting it together. See here for the full Flickr set.
April 9, 201113 yr Aw, man... It's really awesome and I love it. Only thing is now I have to decide whether to go through with my very similar idea for my own entry.

April 9, 201113 yr Great museum, TooMuchCaffeine! There's so much to love about this. Great work, and good luck!
April 9, 201113 yr Really excellent entry overall, I think the angled display cabinet is particularly effective.
April 10, 201113 yr Very well done entry TMC! The external design of the museum looks pretty good particularly the arch in the entrance. The interior details also fits the PQ theme nicely with all the various PQ elements. Great job!
April 10, 201113 yr I love this entry! The display case is just so realistic, and the extra room for the deliveries shows a lot of other details as well. I like the sign you made for the deliveries up front. Great!
April 10, 201113 yr Great SNOT floor amongst other great details lamp, clock, truck, I could go on but you get the point. Any reason you left the roof off? I'm glad I wont be the only smooth entry Good luck
April 10, 201113 yr Author Thanks for the comments guys. Much appreciated. @TazManiac - I originally planned a roof, but ended up deciding against it. I think it might be overly-complex as an "official set" design anyway, I thought a roof would definitely push it over that line.
April 10, 201113 yr Excellent entry! I like the overall idea and the modest execution. The rooms are not too packed, but there's plenty of detail nonetheless. I also like the subtle storyline. Great job!
April 10, 201113 yr @TazManiac - I originally planned a roof, but ended up deciding against it. I think it might be overly-complex as an "official set" design anyway, I thought a roof would definitely push it over that line. I think it's better without a roof. A roof for this type of building wouldn't add much in terms of visual interest. Without the roof, viewers are invited to take a closer look at all of the wonderful furniture you made.
April 11, 201113 yr Yes, this is very good. I was thinking of making a museum as well. I really like the desk and sarcophagus. Some very good techniques in there, although I would have left the middle drawer out so that a person sitting a the desk could put his feet under it. The two tiles on top of the sarcophagus look a bit out of place too. It feels a bit bare for a museum, so perhaps you could add a second floor with even more exhibits? I also second the idea of adding a roof. Just look at all the official modular building; they all have a second floor and roof, and quite detailed ones at that. And shouldn't the truck be dark red, not dark green? Good luck! Edited April 11, 201113 yr by Oky Wan Kenobi
April 11, 201113 yr This is great! The interior is wonderfully detailed and i love the little truck! I'd add my voice to those who are calling for a roof though - i reckon it would cap off yr beautiful MOC nicely.
April 11, 201113 yr Everything is amazing. I particularly like how you successfully use PQ elements that I thought looked too . . . fantasy. I was definitely wrong on that one. For the columns at the front door, have you tried the 2x2 round profile bricks in tan (like in City of Atlantis) ?
April 12, 201113 yr What a great entry! This is brimming with detail - that chair is one of the best designs I have seen in recent history. I love the whole museumish feel it creates, and touches like the cabinets and the wings mounted on the wall finish this off beautifully. I also love that dark green truck. Good luck!

April 14, 201113 yr Only thing is now I have to decide whether to go through with my very similar idea for my own entry Do I have an echo?
April 16, 201113 yr This contest sure is turning out some great entries! I especially like this one. The use of many of the Pharaoh's Quest parts and such a smooth well executed idea really makes this stand out. Nice work.
April 17, 201113 yr Great Detail on the exterior of the building. I love Jake's artifacts that have been displayed in the museum and the makeshift workshop at the back is awesome!
