Posted April 11, 201113 yr To have a better chans of fixing some of the things I didn't like with my latest version I decided to start over, allthough keeping much of the look and feel of the previous model. The canopy and the front plates are the only areas untouched. More pics at my Flickr page It's pretty much a complete rebuild made to look like the old one, but with an improved core construction allowing for the improvements that I wanted to make. Here's the short list: -Only tiles in the back grill. -Better markings at the bottom and an entirely new look to the underside of the vessel. -Brick built flaps on the wings. ( to have a non sticker solution.) -Improved front canon connections. -New smaller rear gun. (with the new shorter lightsaber blade piece.) -All new interior. Check out the pictures and let me know what you think.
April 11, 201113 yr Looks great, as I'm sure you're aware. I have a couple questions- how many pieces approximately? How stable is it? Does it use any "unconventional" methods to stay together? (things like minifig hands hidden inside holding plates together) Can it hold a minifig in the back seat as well?
April 11, 201113 yr Excellent snowspeeder 'Lars', the improvements on the older model are worth it and the heat exchanger fins look better too ! May the brick be with you always 'Lars' !
April 11, 201113 yr Author Thanks for all the nice comments. how many pieces approximately? How stable is it? Does it use any "unconventional" methods to stay together? (things like minifig hands hidden inside holding plates together) Can it hold a minifig in the back seat as well? I don't know the piece count. The core construction is very stable with some weaker parts attached to it. That makes it "swoschable" enough, but you might have to make some adjustments afterwards. No super unconventional stuff. A couple of "stud in technic hole" connections though. Yes, there is a seat for the gunner as well. How did you get the black tiles to stay sideways like that? By using those three studded corner plates with two of the studs sticking out from a stack of 1x1 plates. Every pair of 2x2 tiles have one corner plate. The plate stack has some vertical clips that connects to handle bars at the back of the airspeeder. The "Grill" is made up of two pieces, stud facing inwards. Confusing enough? I'll try to show some pictures. Edited April 11, 201113 yr by Lars
April 11, 201113 yr Author Here's a pic showing the Snowspeeder disassembled. I'm going to make separate pics for the wings, the body and the rear grill thingy. Coming soon.
April 11, 201113 yr Here's a pic showing the Snowspeeder disassembled. [snip] I'm going to make separate pics for the wings, the body and the rear grill thingy. Coming soon. Wow. I might have to steal some of the techniques here, especially the connection of the front portion of the guns.
April 11, 201113 yr I'm going to make separate pics for the wings, the body and the rear grill thingy. Coming soon. Looking forward to that!
April 11, 201113 yr By far the BEST upper air-brakes I've seen on a MOC speeder. Best T-47 period! I love all the updates you have done. You've certainly set the bar higher once again Mr. Lars. The design, aesthetics and clever use of pieces truly make this a work of art.
April 12, 201113 yr Wow I've always thought your T-47 is already great and definitely one of the best looking snowspeeder MOCs around, but you've outdone yourself once again with the subtle but very effective modifications on this new version. Kudos for the 'continuous improvement' on your creations Lars!
April 12, 201113 yr This is so amazing! So smooth and angled. And Brickdoctor doesn't see anything in-accurate with it. Nice work!
April 12, 201113 yr And Brickdoctor doesn't see anything in-accurate with it. Masked, do you not realize that nearly everything I learned to build mine was learned from this MOC? (well its predecessors, actually)
April 12, 201113 yr Masked, do you not realize that nearly everything I learned to build mine was learned from this MOC? (well its predecessors, actually) yeah I figured that. Still, yours are good too.
April 12, 201113 yr Its a really cool improvement and as you know I like also the fact that you achieve all details without any stickers. I look forward to your diorama! Cheers MB
April 12, 201113 yr Wonderfull 'Lars'! I love the detail and the way the guns are attached, the whole look is stunning. It's nice the way you keep improving on it and making it even better every time!
April 12, 201113 yr Amazing work. I love this model. I recently bought the Lego Hoth Wampa cave just for the speeder. If I'd seen this earlier, I might have been buying bricks off Bricklink instead!
April 12, 201113 yr Wonderful stuff... I'm gonna build one (if I can!) Edited April 12, 201113 yr by badgerboy
April 13, 201113 yr Wow thanks for making instructions. This is a pretty awesome T-47 design and now I can have one of my own
April 13, 201113 yr That's very gracious of you Lars to share the instructions, like the others I might give this a try since I've always passed on all of TLG's versions (rightfully so). Thanks!
