EDIT: This was going to be another entry for the competition but I didn't read the rules properly about no box art. My bad - consider this entry withdrawn. If an admin can change the post title to take the "D2C Contest" bit off it, that would be great. Hope you like the creation anyway...

I really enjoyed putting this one together. It was good fun. Here's a link to the Flickr set.

Way to ignore the No-Box-Art rule.

This looks rather nice, especially the airplane, but the temple is a bit underwhelming, especially for a D2C set. This looks more like a regular $50 dolar set. Perhaps you could expand on it with some statues and booby traps.

Is that the pot calling the kettle black?default_tong.gif

Now onto the build I think it's great maybe not quite D2C but it looks like a LEGO set.

If you loose the razzle dazzle and expand a little on the temple ( maybe a small hinged structure) you'll have a top entry. I really like the "steampunkish" bi-plane and the giant stag beetle default_thumbup.gif

I really, really like the plane and the bug, but the temple needs work IMO. I don't know, but there might still be time to tweek it a bit more.

Aw, it's a shame this couldn't be entered in the contest, I honestly think this is one of the few entries that really fit the 'potential set' criteria. I really like the various elements of this build that make this very playable - 4 heroes in two pretty neat vehicles, 2 villains with a giant sky-scarab, and that small ruins' entrance that really looks like what you'll see in standard LEGO sets. Excellent work TMC!

Really slick and ticks all the boxes but one - size. Scale it up and you'd have a beauty. We seem to have been thinking along similar lines - temple, check; sidecar, check... and i abandoned an airship halfway through my build too! Best of luck in the comp. :classic:

Love it! Why didn't you just design PQ for Lego.

Bi-plane is great and love the temple. Wish they used a design like yours of the temple for set Golden Staff Guardians.

Brilliant work as usual. A fan... :classic::thumbup:

Plane!

Are you sure you have no vanilla images of the MOC? I can understand if you had to take it apart but there aren't any unshopped pictures?

I'll change the title later if you like, but this is a great design and would be a shame not to give you a chance to find some appropriate images.

Others should recall their mistakes while being oh so speedy to point out problems.

Whoops! My bad. Got carried away and conveniently forgot about that bit of the rules. Consider this withdrawn as an entry. Apologies!

You don't need to withdraw the entry; just post a version of the first pic without the background and you should be fine.

Is that the pot calling the kettle black?

Hey, I only added the theme's logo in one corner. According to Bonaparte, that's allowed.

And there's nothing "steampunkish" about the biplane. Airplanes like that really existed and were not steam-powered.

Wish they used a design like yours of the temple for set Golden Staff Guardians.

But then it wouldn't have been a $10 set...

Others should recall their mistakes while being oh so speedy to point out problems.

What do you mean? :look:

Thanks for the comments folks. Much appreciated.

Don't think I've got any un-"shopped" images. I'll have a look in the depths of my Recycle Bin.

Also, if I get time I'll do a breakdown of the plane for White Nun.

The plane is superb, great creation! I hope you can re-enter it into the contest. It would be a shame to miss out on entering a great creation into the contest.

Excellent work, TooMuchCaffeine! The plane is excellent, and the temple, small as it is, looks terrific. The flying bug also looks great, and certainly fits in with the PQ guardians. I hope you can find the un-photoshopped images of this, because it would be a really great entry. Well done, and thanks for sharing!

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou

Oh yes I do realise that, but they would still fit perfectly into a Steampunk universe.

I noticed that the box art pic is composed of the other pics, so why don't you bring those pics back into photoshop, remove the text boxes, and paste them all together so that you get an image similar to the box art pic, but with a plain tan background instead of the desert photo? :classic: That should be fine.

Perhaps, but of course you would have to modify the engine to be steam-powered.

I suppose, but I feel like steampunk is more of a visual style than a term for the actual functionality of bizarre Victorian-era airships.

Yes it's more about the general style and design philosophy behind a particular machine, - steam is prefered, but not compulsory.
