One solution could be to actually impose punishmenta for bad behaviour.

Money fines that are high enough to do some impact on the players - no use in paying 1000 Euros when You earn 20000 Euros a month. Make 'em pay seriously instead *y*

Also more quarantaine would be a forceable solution - being left out of the game for a month pr half a year could do serious damage to a footballer's career.

This way the players' actions are no longer without consequences X-D

Just my thoughts - not that I fancy the game either...

Not really. It's a popular sport/topic and thus it has many new posts which list this forum under the new posts frequently. And because of my curious nature I read them. And when there's a possibility to show my dislike of it I do it now and then :-P

AM I the only that got this flash game were you can punch the italian guy with zidane's head ? As for me posting here, it's mostly for the reasons Hobbes mentionned. I am also the one who created this forum section (second thought, I created all the sections :-P ) so I think I feel like I have a posting duty in here X-D

I don't think football is usually such a nice game comparred to many sports : you want fights, then watch hockey games, those are the best ! But beside, the players are real gifted people who can skate on ice while doing something else. Football has mainly become a marketing/political game, easely used for mass manipulation. it's sad since the game itself is interesting and can offer really nice actions, but with all the insults, the racist behaviours, the kicks and the money involved, I'm not sure about the utility of the game...

Well why not make the WWE (Prowrestling) the national sport in Europe? Then everyone can use Chairs, Latters, Tables what ever they want...

I think maybe the penalties are more severe for football because unlike US football or hockey the players have little in the way of protection. Kicks or in this case headbutts could mean serious injury where as in hockey even after taking a hard rubber puck to the chest they simply just keep on skating.

Soccer is really more of a live drama. The way some of those players act when they are "hurt" is hilarious.

I wish we had more football here in the US. Playing as a child was great especially the year we went undefeated. While in Germany it was on the TV nearly every night and it was fun to watch. Much more interesting than basketball or golf which get considerable airtime in the US. Not that I watch TV much anyway but it would be nice to watch a game of soccer once in a while instead of a few games every four years.

I'm for aboloshing football (or 'footy', if there are any chavs on here who may not understand me) ! I'd never miss the start of Doctor Who again due to some stupid overtime play.

It's insulting that people have England flags on their cars and houses at the time of the World Cup, but when it's St. Georges Day, there isn't one in sight. It's making our (and just about every other) country look stupid and like a bunch of yobs....

Sickening....World Cup Chess is what we need.
