Jan Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 (edited) Well, how to start, My 7 year old son is a big fan of castle Lego, and has build up quite a collection in the past years. What he loves to do is building models, he doesn't have, from available pdf instructions. Last week he finished his copy of the Medieval Market Village set, and it looked really nice. While browsing this forum I came across this post: Dragon Knight Keep, from EB member Inkog, and I showed my son how he used the buildings from the Medieval Market Village in a very clever way into a castle setup. My son instantly fell in love with the model, and wanted us to make a similair castle aswell. The biggest challenge was to build a castle that size with his "limited" amount of grey bricks available. We also added some extra play-functions to it by making the buildings easy acessable, and adding a jail to the central house. Yesterday was a sunny day and we took the model outside and made some photo's I know it's a shameless reproduction of a very good MOC, but I still hope you like it. thank you for reading, Jan images link to 6 megapixel equivalents. with the roofs removed. King's Carriage looking familiar? wonder what the dragon with the ninja is up to? (me too) Edited May 21, 2011 by Rufus Indexed! Quote
Brickdoctor Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Nicely done; looks very playable. Your son's lucky to be able to have such an MOC to play with. BTW, images with the same color background as the board are (even if transparent PNGs are cooler ) Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Great job on recreating Inkog's MOC! And its really nice to know this is a father-and-son collaborative effort and you've even incorporated some additional play features to your liking. Very well done! Quote
Inkog Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 (edited) As they say, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". You and your son did a fantastic job and should be very proud of your creation. I particularly like your son’s very creative renditions of the Market Village. I’m envious of your son’s access to digital instructions and sites like EB, I wish they were available to me when I was his age. The only thing I don’t like about this MOC is that the pictures are so good! Your photos certainly put mine to shame. I really need to get some better photos of my MOC before my cat destroys it more than it already has. Edited April 17, 2011 by Inkog Quote
Jan Posted April 17, 2011 Author Posted April 17, 2011 Thanks all for your kind words, even if transparent PNGs are cooler I know, but they make my filesize twice of what it is now. I’m envious of your son’s access to digital instructions and sites like EB, I wish they were available to me when I was his age. Well, we had the ideabooks, and the alternative builds back then, but I have to say that I also would prefered this almost endless amount of available instructions when I was a kid. The only thing I don’t like about this MOC is that the pictures are so good! Your photos certainly put mine to shame. Sorry , sunlight (when available, and thats often the problem here) is the easiest (or at least cheapest) way for good photo's, but I think you are unnecessary hard on yourself. Quote
