Posted April 17, 201113 yr Hey guys, Name is Kronin1, and I have recently found your site and it is CRAM PACKED with awesome information that has taken my minifigure customization to a whole new level. Which brings me to the question at hand. I also hope i am placing this in the right location. I have bought some ink jet Micromark transparent wateslide paper. My printer is a canon mp560 now when i print my decals it is all grainy. So is there a setting or a preferred printer to prevent this. I notice this site work on waterslide and decals and they all look so crisp and professional. Any and all help will be great appreciated. Thank you K1
April 18, 201113 yr What program do you use for making the decals? On this forum I've seen a lot of different decals, some are maid in paint, some in some better programs. If it's grainy it might be the image itself. Try using Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator or some other programs for vector images. I haven't tried anything myself regarding LEGO decals so it's just a guess. Don't think it should be the paper or printers fault. I had similar problems with printing some smaller images to normal paper ...
April 18, 201113 yr Author Well, i am using a lot of already made decal mostly from here, I made one, i used Paint. and printed it off from Adobe Photo shop and even used Microsoft Office. I have changed some settings on the printer like Photo printing and gloss paper. It made some difference but the detail is not there. It looks great when printed on Plain paper. But once on the waterslide paper, it become grainy. thanks for the reply K1
April 19, 201113 yr Author UPDATE: well I have been working on this for a few weeks. I have tried several printers of different calibers etc. I pretty much had the same affect on each one. Well today I was at my Local Hobby Lobby which sells the testors water slide paper, i bought white and the kit. Well I tested some on the clear paper thinking i had plenty with what I got from MICROMARK. Well a test print later, i print it out on the Testor paper, NO grainy look to it at all. Not even a tiny bit looks perfect. Anyway figure i give an update so anyone having the same issues I had this info might be helpful in some way or another.. K1
