Fugazi Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 This probably saved you, Foog: you launched into a long attack of me via PM on the Cara day; whilst my allies were all screaming that the bodyguard (who was obviously you) must be scum, I figured there was no way you'd have continued to question me like that if you were scum. Thank you for seeing me for what I really was! To my defense, I shall say that I would never have revealed that I was bodyguard were it not for my 'solid' night result! I wasn't given a choice. Oh. Way to mess with me again Hinck! Who knows (maybe you'd have turned me into a turkey? ) But you could have won the game on night 9, if you'd killed Arjay like I asked I know, you asked me to kill Scouts and Arjay and both times I didn't. Since you wouldn't share the whole picture with me, and I didn't have the information I would later have as a Mason to justify the kill, I just kept going over all the ways that you could fool me into killing an innocent! Yup, we could have saved the lives of iamded and Ricecracker. On the other hand, between my cursed wand and Arjay's masonic protections, the chances of a successful kill were slim.
iamded Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Yup, we could have saved the lives of iamded and Ricecracker. ...
Pandora Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I'm not quoting any of that, lest another wave of nausea washes over the mafia forum. But, thanks
Bob Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Bob the Construction Man – Bristol Bunny – Village In this game of wits and strategy you are playing the character of Bristol Bunny, the Spring Haven Seamstress. You are beautiful and desired by all the men of Spring Haven. However, you are ridiculously gossipy and you poop in everyone’s gardens. Despite your shortcomings, you are quite popular with other members of the village. You have been given no magical powers. Remember that if your character is lynched or killed during the night, you should not assume your game is over and do not discuss the game with anyone until the conclusion is reached. Best of luck! I didn't even get to poop in your gardens... There's not really much to say, mostly because I didn't last that long. It was a great game, with a good story.
Masked Builder Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Well that was enjoyable! I quite like the comics. Nice work all around. And congrats on surviving!
Fugazi Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 ... I'm so sorry! I could have saved your life had I believed Rufus and trusted the wand but even then the odds weren't very good!
CorneliusMurdock Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Luckily, I deleted the furious PM I was going to send to Cornelius Murdock... Murdock, you were driving me crazy with your PMs. Sorry for driving you nuts. You should have seen how I bombarded Rufus with PMs, especially the day he tried to lynch me. You actually got off lucky.
Lord Arjay Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Congratulations to the winners! The town in this game was very deserving of a win, so well done on that. So yes, I was the Demon Legion Ninja Jack of all Trades (I was also a usurper). On the last day Rufus had me thoroughly nailed. He was spot on about almost all of my motivations and my ability. I tried my best to buy myself some time but I was pretty much gone as soon as Rufus started trusting Cornelius. Good job Rufus, it's great that you managed to win this. My role: (Yes, it was completely random selection) Lord Arjay - Kaley Cat – Demon Legion (Treacherous) – Jack-of-all-Trades In this game of wits and strategy you are playing the character of Caley Cat, the Owner and Operator of the Spring Haven Mill. Cats are inherently evil, so you hardly have any choice in the matter. As such, you know you are the best at being evil and having to be led by Cara Cow greatly annoys you. You have been given the magical power of Confusion. The orb you have been given allows you to switch between magical powers each night. You must do them in this order, Sandman, Janitor, Kidnapper, only one each night. If the game lasts for ten days your night action schedule will look like this: Night 1: Sandman Night 2: Janitor Night 3: Kidnapper Night 4: Sandman Night 5: Janitor Night 6: Kidnapper Night 7: Sandman Night 8: Janitor Night 9: Kidnapper Night 10: Sandman As the Sandman, you may choose one player to sprinkle magic sand on. They will oversleep and be late to the morning meeting in the City Square. As the Janitor, you will be given the option to clean up a night-killed body, so nobody can learn their affiliation in the morning. As the Kidnapper, you may remove one player from game play for one day. It will be done anonymously. They will not learn your identity. Your win condition varies slightly from the other members of the Demon Legion. In order to win, you must take over the role of Godfather. Don’t worry, you are next in line, so all that needs to happen is that Cara Cow (badboytje88) needs to be killed. More info will come to you as a group shortly. Remember that if your character is lynched or killed during the night, you should not assume your game is over and do not discuss the game with anyone until the conclusion is reached. Best of luck! Parts of my role were hidden to me, for example I wasn't told that the sandman ability was also a framing action until I used it on def. I didn't know that the kidnapper action would also let me hijack someones ability until I used it on Rick and I had no idea that I was a ninja until I was recruited into the masons. The idea of framing Scouts to make him look innocent was inspired, and it would have worked had you not made the mistake of overestimating your enemy Yes, I decided to frame Scouts in an attempt to get him trusted. I was so sure that the town would have figured it out, so yeah - that one backfired massively. I tried to bring it up a few times in private to see if anyone would figure it out without needing to be told, which clearly didn't work. Oops. Aside from that, I'm pretty happy with my play and I'm glad if my downfall was interesting for people to watch. My fellow scumbags all played a fantastic game - despite one or two slip-ups - and it was a pleasure to work with you all. I think the game was favoured slightly towards the town, especially as the balancing role (me) had to - understandably - eventually be exposed in a clue. However it could have gone either way at a lot of points, so at least we stood a chance. Hinckley, your presentation was excellent. The pictures and story were brilliant, and made the game all that more enjoyable. Sorry for holding up the game so much. "Oh dear." Kaley Cat said, "How sad that my life has come to an end. I do not deserve such a cruel fate." Yay! I have no idea if anyone noticed, but from early on in the game I decided to begin my first post of every day with a slight variation on this line. It was quite amusing to me, and I was sort of hoping someone would call me out on it. Oh. Way to mess with me again Hinck! And you didn't choose Demon Legion? Damn it! On the other hand, between my cursed wand and Arjay's masonic protections, the chances of a successful kill were slim. It wouldn't have worked anyway, my ninja powers meant that I couldn't be killed at night. There's still a lot of things that I don't know, so I look forward to all the explanations. I'm sure I'll have more to say later. One thing that I still haven't figured out though is whether the blocker existed or not - and if they did, who were they?
Peanuts Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Wow, that was a funny game to watch. Congrats to all you townies. I can't wait to see all the night actions by Hinck. But I gotta say, I'm not quite a fan of revivals. And did you have to announce the killer was "sneaky as a ninja"? But great hosting, the interludes were just superb.
Rick Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Parts of my role were hidden to me, for example I wasn't told that the sandman ability was also a framing action until I used it on def. I didn't know that the kidnapper action would also let me hijack someones ability until I used it on Rick and I had no idea that I was a ninja until I was recruited into the masons. We thought you knew about your abilities. I agree, that looks a bit unbalanced ex-ante if you don't know all your abilities fully, but then again, the multiple revivals made us suspicious whether they all revived back to town or not. Yes, I decided to frame Scouts in an attempt to get him trusted. I was so sure that the town would have figured it out, so yeah - that one backfired massively. I tried to bring it up a few times in private to see if anyone would figure it out without needing to be told, which clearly didn't work. Oops. That was a clever move and frankly we should have figured the night action sequence out mid-game, especially after def was shown to be framed. Glad Rufus still figured it out later. It wouldn't have worked anyway, my ninja powers meant that I couldn't be killed at night. Rufus got a hint from the frog that the 'identifying the remaining scum will be difficult', so we figured there would be a ninja and/or godfather left at that point (this was before babdboytje was lynched). We stopped using investigation orbs after that. There's still a lot of things that I don't know, so I look forward to all the explanations. I'm sure I'll have more to say later. One thing that I still haven't figured out though is whether the blocker existed or not - and if they did, who were they? TinyPies of course. You guys poisoned him for that reason, didn't you? Or do you mean an investigator? There wasn't. There were only the orbs that could be handed out and the recruitment by Rufus that could be used to investigate.
def Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Sorry for driving you nuts. You should have seen how I bombarded Rufus with PMs, especially the day he tried to lynch me. You actually got off lucky. No worries, it's fine That was around the time I asked to be taken out of the game. Under normal circumstances, I would have taken it a lot better. For me too, this was my biggest PM game. I racked up pages and pages with people. That was part of the frustration of being lynched. I had been aggressively town the whole game, in thread but especially in PMs, and there was evidence to show I was town (helping lynch Zepher and Shadows) but that reading trumped everything for my teammates. Oh well, it's all spilt milk now.
Alopex Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Brilliant conclusion! Congratulations to all the players, and to the brilliant host Hinckley!
Fugazi Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 And you didn't choose Demon Legion? Damn it! I would have actually, but for the fact that by that time in the game I didn't feel I was really trusted by anybody, and that I also thought it would be an easy win for the Village -- especially with the wand coming back. How far from the truth! And to think that if I had chosen Demon Legion, Daxia probably wouldn't have cursed Walter's wand! It wouldn't have worked anyway, my ninja powers meant that I couldn't be killed at night. It makes me feel a little bit better!
Lord Arjay Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 That was a clever move and frankly we should have figured the night action sequence out mid-game, especially after def was shown to be framed. Glad Rufus still figured it out later. In the end it turned out that not figuring out how def was framed was more helpful to the town, as otherwise Scouts would've probably had an easier time becoming trusted. TinyPies of course. You guys poisoned him for that reason, didn't you? Nah, I mean the one that appeared on night eight and got Scouts, stopping our kill from succeeding. Funnily enough, we were going to kill Cornelius because we thought he was most likely to become a mason. I suppose it was a good thing that the kill failed, or else I would have been the only one that the clue could be referring to.
Scouty Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 There's still a lot of things that I don't know, so I look forward to all the explanations. I'm sure I'll have more to say later. One thing that I still haven't figured out though is whether the blocker existed or not - and if they did, who were they? The blocker was Ricecracker, I believe. In the day 9 opening the last picture, I believe, showed us consoling our targets. Rufus with Cornellius, you with Inconspicuous and Ricey on me ( to which I referred to as "Ricey licking my ear" . It also shows a confused Fugazi. At least, those are my deductions Admittingly, I played like crap! I knew you guys were suspicious of me, but I didn't know I was doing such a bad job
Rick Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 In the end it turned out that not figuring out how def was framed was more helpful to the town, as otherwise Scouts would've probably had an easier time becoming trusted. Yeah, but still, I should have figured it out, damnit! Rufus originally had an inventor action (see his earlier post). One of the items was a one-shot block and I think he must have used it on Scouts on night 8. I successfully gave him this on the night I was killed. Originally we were going to hand out a knife, which would have killed Scouts instead. But you kidnapped Draggy the night before and (ab)used Rufus' inventor action to hand out a knife to Scouts to kill me ( ) and we couldn't hand out the same item two nights in a row. Everybody still following the night action swapping going on here? Good.

Rick is right here. He was the only one who knew I had a chain - no-one else knew. I played on this big-time. At the beginning of day 9, everyone was saying, 'who blocked the arsonist?' This did actually surprise me - there were many other reasons for the arsonist not striking - but I used it to my advantage, feigning ignorance of the blocker at first. Then when Cornelius convinced me he was town, I mentioned the blocker in the accusation of Scouty, hoping that people would think Cornelius had revealed he had a blocker action (or knew of one). I don't know whether this worked directly, but Arjay took the bait, and asked me if the blocker had inherited their action. I gave a deliberately ambiguous answer (which I'm sure he saw right through ), but it seemed to work in that the scummies must have been paranoid about being blocked again, and it lead to them taking out the other players (sorry, Ricey ) What I never figured is whether the scum themselves had a blocker, or at least an action that could block sometimes. Fangy was blocked night one, which we supposed was Zepher, but I'm not so sure - he was also blocked night 4 after Zeph was lynched. I was blocked night 7, but I figured that was with my own chain stolen from Draggy. I actually wondered whether Zeph was the poisoner who took out Pies.
Fugazi Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 So who converted Shadows, and when? Why weren't there any other conversions? What I never figured is whether the scum themselves had a blocker, or at least an action that could block sometimes. Fangy was blocked night one, which we supposed was Zepher, but I'm not so sure - he was also blocked night 4 after Zeph was lynched. Was Fangy really blocked? His investigation failed because it was impossible to investigate Badboytje, and his attempt to protect Dragonator could have failed because Draggy was in "another dimension" while being protected by Eskallon? Oh wait, something similar happened the previous night and Eskallon didn't block you from giving an orb to WhiteFang. I'm sure Hinckley had a hell of a time figuring out how to resolve the night actions!
Zepher Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 (edited) I was only a blocker. The poison was from Badboy, the scum had three options of how to kill at night at first. When people died, we got to like shuffle actions sort of. Also, Hinck laid out an order of night actions. He informed us as to it when we asked. One HUGE issue I had with Arjay, though it may have been because he was a mason and didn't want to let them use it if there was action shuffling over there, but HE DROPPED ONE OF THE SCUMS KILL ABILITIES. Which sucked megablocks. He could have killed you guys off at twice the rate, may have made a difference. I don't understand why he did that, THOUGH, I assume he has a reason because he's a top notch player and I'm the one known for dropping important details, not he. Edited April 18, 2011 by Zepher
badboytje88 Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Congrats to the town for winning this game. It was my first all star game and I found it quite intence! Here is my character info for those who are interested: badboyjte88 - Cara Cow – Demon Legion – Godfather and Night Killer In this game of wits and strategy you are playing the character of Cara Cow, the Spring Haven Doctor. Your job is to heal people and it’s the perfect cover for your evil intentions. You want nothing more than eternal power and life and will stop at nothing to get it. You have been given the magical power of Death. You have received a bottle of Death Elixir. Each night you may leave a drop of elixir in the ear of one citizen of Spring Haven. They will die before voting starts the following game day. Only one Demon Legion night killer may kill each night. Additionally, you know Gilbert Goat has had a crush on you since you were a kid. He is an innocent Villager, but he is using his power of protection to guard you every night. He has a 50% chance of being killed himself but will know who targets you if he survives. More info will come to you as a group shortly. Remember that if your character is lynched or killed during the night, you should not assume your game is over and do not discuss the game with anyone until the conclusion is reached. Best of luck!
Lord Arjay Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I gave a deliberately ambiguous answer (which I'm sure he saw right through ), but it seemed to work in that the scummies must have been paranoid about being blocked again, and it lead to them taking out the other players (sorry, Ricey ) It worked alright. The only two people I could imagine being the blocker was Iamded and Ricey, so I killed them that night. I would have killed iamded anyway, but I wasn't going to go for Ricey until it became possible that he was a blocker. I was suspicious when you avoided answering me, but I figured that was just because you no longer trusted me and didn't want to give away the blocker's identity. Well, since Quarry was convicted we had only been able to use the killing actions one at a time. I assume that was still the case, and me gaining the poison ability would only allow us a choice of how to kill - which didn't seem necessary.
Scouty Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Rick is right here. He was the only one who knew I had a chain - no-one else knew. I played on this big-time. I gave a deliberately ambiguous answer (which I'm sure he saw right through ), but it seemed to work in that the scummies must have been paranoid about being blocked again, and it lead to them taking out the other players (sorry, Ricey ) Consider us (or at least me) confused What I never figured is whether the scum themselves had a blocker, or at least an action that could block sometimes. Fangy was blocked night one, which we supposed was Zepher, but I'm not so sure - he was also blocked night 4 after Zeph was lynched. I was blocked night 7, but I figured that was with my own chain stolen from Draggy.I actually wondered whether Zeph was the poisoner who took out Pies. Quarryman picked up the block action after Zeph died and I picked it up from Quarry when he died. All of our actions trickled down when one of us died (I picked up the Arsonist action after Shadows died and dropped the crow kill). If we had two actions, we had to choose which one we wanted. Like Arjay had a choice of watcher or the poison kill. I also think he should have taken the poison kill, but the watcher action was also useful.
Fugazi Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 (edited) Additionally, you know Gilbert Goat has had a crush on you since you were a kid. He is an innocent Villager, but he is using his power of protection to guard you every night. He has a 50% chance of being killed himself but will know who targets you if he survives. Ha! You knew everything all along! And I thought I was being clever for telling you right from the start I was your bodyguard, just in case you would happen to be scum! Like Arjay had a choice of watcher or the poison kill. I also think he should have taken the poison kill, but the watcher action was also useful. So Badboy was a watcher too? Inherited from someone else? Edited April 18, 2011 by Fugazi
Scouty Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 So Badboy was a watcher too? Inherited from someone else? Yes and no. At the start we had an investigation action to find the serial killer. Once we got Shadows into our team ( what fat lot of good that did us ) the investigation action went away and I suppose turned into watcher night action. Badboy can probably tell the specifics.
