Norro Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Hey all, wanted to point out this cool poster. It was an Exclusive for the Lego Builders Club in 1991. I bought one recently (when I get a scanner I'll try and put up a better image) and was very pleased with it! Image from Bricklink's database: God Bless, Nathan Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 7, 2006 Governor Posted July 7, 2006 Excellent Mr Norro! You're the first member of the Pirate Ranking System to contribute to this area! Not even I've done that yet but that's because I need to buy a new scanner. Your efforts have been noted! I've never seen this before, where did you acquire it from Mr Norro? Quote
Norro Posted July 8, 2006 Author Posted July 8, 2006 I've never seen this before, where did you acquire it from Mr Norro? I was trying to hunt down another one of the Lego Builder's Club exclusive posters (a castle one from my childhood) and after a long search I found a seller on Bricklink with one. When I went to purchase it I noticed this one (which I wass previously unaware of) and snapped it up for the wall ; ) God Bless, Nathan Quote
Dreamweb Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 That's a very cool poster, I wish I had one. How big is it? Quote
Norro Posted September 24, 2006 Author Posted September 24, 2006 That's a very cool poster, I wish I had one. How big is it? Roughly 17in x 22in... or in bricks... :-P God Bless, Nathan Quote
Athos Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 I have this one too... same status as the other poster, I mentioned here. I wonder why no one has attempted to create fan made posters, in this style, and sell them. I think this would be a good project for someone (other than me) on the forums. Steve Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 16, 2007 Governor Posted March 16, 2007 The thought has crossed my mind, but to produce something of quality takes a lot of time and I just don't have enough of it. But I was thinking of creating some wallpapers with PirateBricks.com on them and selling them over eBay. The cost would only be enough to cover the auction fees, but the point of endeavour would be to promote the forum to an AFOL demograph who may be unaware of websites like Eurobricks or LUGNET. Quote

Then why bother with ebay? Just post them to a website where people could down load them with ebay. Seems like ebay would just be adding extra unnecessary steps... Steve Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 17, 2007 Governor Posted March 17, 2007 You're missing the point. eBay has a large market for Pirate LEGO, so the purpose of auctioning the images is to advertise our link to eBay buyers who are unaware of AFOL sites like Eurobricks, LUGNET, etc. (I was one for about 3 years). The idea is: a potential buyer searches for "Pirate LEGO" and a listing for the Pirate LEGO wallpapers appears in the research results. The listing has a 800 x 600 preview of the wallpaper which has "www.piratebricks.com" on it somewhere. Hopefully the buyer becomes curious and investigates that link, but whether they buy the graphics is irrelevant. However, to abide by the eBay terms and conditions we must auction something, so we offer a higher resolution version of the graphics in the preview and maybe some extra goodies. But the point is there are Pirate LEGO Fans using eBay who are unaware of AFOL communities and I want to promote the forum to them. Quote

That's a very creative idea for promoting the pirate portal Mr. Phes. You can reach a lot of Pirate fans via this way! Quote
