DLuders Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 On his Flickr photoset, BricksOnWheels posted 9 pictures of his Lego Peterbilt 379 Refrigeration Truck Combination. He wrote, "After my last big 1:13 build I wanted to do a full combo in 1:16 with PF functions. A custom reefer combo was on my list for a while, so here it is: A Peterbilt 379 Exhd, with a Great Dane reefer trailer with Thermoking unit. The tractor has two engines, and is geared down quite a lot to pull the trailer. Every time I try to detail more, and a lot of work has gone into this one. Chromed engine on top of the PF steering system, and a lot of chrome more to make it real. I must be related to a magpie to love all that bling :-) Well a picture says more than a thousand words.. hope you like it!" "The sleeper houses the battery box, and receiver, which just pops out of the roof. Between the fuel tans is the XL Power functions engine to drive both the rear axles....On top of the PF steering system (seperate engine) i tried to replicate the real engine as much as possible, though there was little space availlable underneeth. The chassis chromed out, as is the engine": "Easter brings beautiful weather in The Netherlands, so i took my new Peterbilt Reefer Combo out in the garden for a few pictures....Sometimes people ask me if i have an insurance on my Lego... well yes I have, and here he is: Mario our Maine Coon cat. He is quite big (just imagine that the truck is about 1.5 meters) and scales around 8 kg." Quote
Siegfried Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 I love the smug looking insurance! Great MOC... but I'm not sold on the Chrome. It seems a lot of effort, and cost. As he says, he must be a magpie! Quote
P4trickvH Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 (edited) Great MOC, i love those big american trucks. I really like all the chrome details you added to the truck, makes it even more realistic. Edited April 24, 2011 by P4trickvH Quote
Bricksonwheels Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Thnx guys, and Dluders for posting this. The chrome is not a heavy cost to me, as I arrange it myself at a business friend, therefore for me it gives it a much more realistic appeal. I would not put it on all designs, but with these trucks it simply is unavoidable Quote

Zerobricks Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Another shinny massive truck from Bricksonwheels! I really like the picture with the truck and the cat, looks so cool! Quote
cbt Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 I really like the picture with the truck and the cat, looks so cool! Just my words A majestic cat it is - who needs insurance when he's guarding ?. I like both the truck and the Maine Coons - there is not much of a watch dog in a Maine Coon, though, being so loving as it really is. Anyways, I bet Mario reaches 1.5 meters too (including his tail) when stretching and massive 8 kg of weight too (?) Quote
Bricksonwheels Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Indeed it is a heavy Cat, the Peterbilt is about 4 kg total. I am surprised it runs quite well on the XL engine, it is geared down heavily though with 12/24, and 2x 8/24. Quote
