Out of Sight Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 (edited) I have chosen the car to go in the showroom. Wish me luck ! Building updates in the next six hours....till then keep on watching ! Nice one LT, as always!! A Fiesta?? C'mon mate...you need a 'real'Ford..how about a true OZ legend..as some had said a Falcon! Oww forgot to add, while you're at it how about MOC-ing specialist offroad/outback outfitters for your town. I've seen many of these during my stay in OZ back then, carrying popular brand such as ARB and Old Man Emu. Being a real life 4x4 aficionado (I used to own a 75 series Toyota "Troopy" Landcruiser), I say OZ has some of the best 4x4 equipment in the world. Edited April 29, 2011 by Out of Sight Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 Thanks everyone today, sadly I didn't get very far with the vehicles, but I did get a start on what I do best.....buildings and I have started planning/scratch-building the service department. So second lot of suggestions would be kinds of workshop equipment to go into said workshop ! Keep on watching ! Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Looks great Lightningtiger , The tilted windows look great and really give the building character. Nice choice of colour for the building aswell. Nice job in the interior and those custom stickers really look good Looking forward to seeing it finished. Quote
ACCURATEin Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I'm eventually going to build a Honda dealership one of these days. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 Thanks for the feedback 'ACCURATEin' and 'TYB', I'm really glad that people like it. I have also designed a drill press to go into the workshop (on LDD), but by this time next week the service dept. and at least one vehicle will be completed to join the showroom/spare parts building/yard. I would like to see a Honda dealer 'ACCURATEin', hopefully other people try and MOC some other car dealers too ! Keep on watching ! Quote
jonwil Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I have my Holden dealership sitting on the table right now. I am waiting for some Bricklink orders to arrive so I can then build more cars. Currently got a yellow SS UTE, red Barina, yellow Monaro, dark bley LandCruiser (not a Holden but Holden doesn't make a 4x4, just a crappy SUV) and white Colorado cab chassis with tan rear tray. Once the BL orders arrive, I will have enough parts to build: black Commodore plus one or maybe 2 other black vehicles (a UTE maybe or maybe a Sportswagon) red Commodore plus one other red vehicle (UTE, Colorado or Sportswagon depending on what I decide) white Statesman and possibly also white UTE (or another Colorado or maybe a Sportswagon if i can get the parts) blue hatchback (Barina/Cruze hatch/Astra) with a base in another color (only because the blue wheel arch pieces are too expensive/hard to get) lime green hatchback (Barina most likely) and maybe an orange hatchback (again Barina or Cruze) with a base in another color (again because the orange wheel arches are too expensive/hard to get) All in all I could have possibly 15 vehicles for my dealer unless I decide to put some of them elsewhere on the layout (its a big city dealer so lots of new/near new vehicles is prototypical) Just need to print some stickers with Holden logos (maybe give it a name like Airport Holden or something given that its likely going somewhere near the airport) Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 Well I wish you luck 'jonwil', sounds like a few of us will be doing car dealers eh ? When we have finished them, a poll....yes a poll to see what the public think eh ? Any suggestions still for workshop gear ? Brick On everyone ! Quote
Legoless Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Nice one LT, as always!! A Fiesta?? C'mon mate...you need a 'real'Ford..how about a true OZ legend..as some had said a Falcon! And what, pray, is wrong with a Fiesta? Fiestas have always been good little motors. I've had a couple- and the latest one is a real corker apparently. The best Fords have always tended to be small Fords IMHO. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 Well I choose Fiesta for it's short wheel base so access isn't blocked to the spare parts area and most importantly....the coffee machine ! I'll try and do more work on it this weekend, but it's my son's birthday tomorrow so I might be a little busy ! Brick On Everyone ! Quote
Out of Sight Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 @Legoless Sorry, don't mean to dis any Fiesta owners here. Nothing is wrong with a Fiesta at all..I only said that because LT's MOC town here is styled more towards small Aussie town (I think), therefore I suggested a more common full-size Aussie built Ford. Yes, your statement is valid, but the legendary (desirable and collectible)Fords are usually the big ones too , but I could be wrong. However one small Ford that has legendary status/desirable/collectible is the Escort RS Cosworth imo. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 30, 2011 Author Posted April 30, 2011 Tuesday, I'll start on the vehicles, but for now I have started fully on the service department. Keep on watching everyone and suggestions, yes please ! Quote
gotoAndLego Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 It would be funny to have a pocky-lips dealership where Lord Humongous buys his vehicles. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 30, 2011 Author Posted April 30, 2011 It would be funny to have a pocky-lips dealership where Lord Humongous buys his vehicles. Er, yeah right ? WTF ? Who is Lord Humongous when he is home ? 'gotoAndLego' having you been playing with Megab...k's again ? Though your point I have noted, I must get some minifigs done for this....quite a few too ! Anyway, I should have the service department done by Tuesday night, a double roller door entry with one side being interfaced with a genuine looking hoist (I hope it looks genuine ). Brick On everyone ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 1, 2011 Author Posted May 1, 2011 Everyone, I still need some suggestion for the service department, plus other items I can try and put in this dealership of which I believe will be my largest MOC so far at three 32x32 base-plates with one not started yet which will be to do with tractors and farm equipment. Keep those suggestions comming, thanks. Quote
ManitobaMoe Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Well the only Lego farm stuff that is even close to scale is the Tractors. Now lego does have a blue one with the main farm set that you could clone. Would be nice to see some grain handling equipment to go with the new sets coming out this year. I have built small combines and swathers but never have luck building a true mini fig scale farm Quote

I have built small combines and swathers but never have luck building a true mini fig scale farm Well, thank you 'ManitobaMoe' for your suggestion, I'm either going Case or John Deere for a brand of tractor. I have done farm equipment before, but I'm going even more realistic this time round. I still need some suggestions for workshop gear for the service department, thanks. Brick On everyone ! Quote
gotoAndLego Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Er, yeah right ? WTF ? Who is Lord Humongous when he is home ? I figured if anyone would get Mad Max jokes, it would be the Aussie er... kangaroo lover. Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 I figured if anyone would get Mad Max jokes, it would be the Aussie er... kangaroo lover. Oh, I haven't watched either Mad Max film for a long time.....like twenty years ! So lets all not drive though a caravan and cop a saucepan in the throat ! Updating later today with the service department exterior finished.....dam, I gotta remember to start on those vehicles. Keep on watching everyone ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 Another quick written update, service department exterior finished minus Ford and Service department signage. Have made a start on the interior of workshop, but still I had not started the vehicles.....better get a move on I guess ! Updating with fresh photos as soon as the wife hands the camera back to me ! Keep on watching ! Quote
gotoAndLego Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 You should have a crying or upset minifig as he finds out that he needs a new clutch and transmission. Quote
dr_spock Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 You should have a crying or upset minifig as he finds out that he needs a new clutch and transmission. Or a suitcase of money. Do they sell the Ford Edge down under? I think that would be an easy one to MOC. Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 Thanks 'gotoAndLego' and 'dr_spock' for your suggestions.....a guy freaking out - okay that's easy...crying over spending stack of cash on his ride. Oh, no I think Ford sell that model here....might have to look one up ! Just did then, no I haven't ever seen these Edge's on Oz roads ! Oh, well back to the grinding wheel today...hey I have to make one of them too ! Must get camera off the wife.....I know I'll hold her one and only minifig...the punk rocker for ransom ! Updating a.s.a.p. Quote
DJ Force Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I really like what you are up to. And I´d like to contribute. Can you please sell my Mustang on your used cars lot? :) Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 Well I must say that is one well built 60's classic 'DJ Force' ! Now today I should be posting fresh exterior shots of the dealership and a little of the W-I-P inside the workshop. Now I will say this now, if you think you have seen my best work yet....well over the next few months I'm going to take it up a few clicks ! Keep on watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 Finally I got the camera back ! As you can see I have been busy, now the interior of the workshop is a mega W-I-P with the hoist been the hardest part. Gee I haven't even started on the vehicles yet, plus a start on a Mega-MOC (more on that one later). Comments welcome always and keep on changing oil ! Quote
