HighFlyer Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Fantastic MOC as ever, I adore those slanted windows, and that lawnmower is ingenious! Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 (edited) Thanks 'HighFlyer', 'sneff' and of course 'bootz' my fellow car dealer builder (oh, I'll try and photograph more of the hoist). Speaking of the hoist I only have one problem....it wouldn't take my Ford Ranger...so I'll have to build a small car out of Lego that looks similar to an actual Ford. Any suggestions ? Oh, I'll be printing today....please note the sign added to the far right of the building that's getting a special sticker. (Updating post later) Edit...update time.... Oh, yeah the tyre fitting bay got a new sticker as well. Plus does remind you of something...... What does everyone think of the sign ? Quick edit - the Stihl chain saw sign has been shifted closer to the service department entrance so it's not blocked by the IGA frontage. Feel free to comment if you want ! lightningtiger Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 (edited) Good morning everyone (it's morning here ) fresh day, fresh new post (updating later unless replying). Okay, I should post an image of that sign and do a side by side eh ? Now how did I do it eh ? Update again..... Yep, some outdoor shots again. Edited November 8, 2011 by lightningtiger Quote
brickboys518 Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 The design on the lift is awesome! Well done! Quote

Capn Frank Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I also like the lift, and I like the chainsaw. Stihl is a good brand for a chainsaw. Does the lift work? Quote
bootz Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Oh I must have missed the chain saw and sign. Very clever. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 It's coming together well 'lt' (literally) . I too really like the lift. Does the gear system add resistance when a car is on the rack? Or is it just for a smooth lift operation? The Stihl sign is pretty neat as well but, why in a car dealership? Special promotion or joint partnership? Can't say I've seen power tools at any dealership around me. I figured you would have stuck it in your tool store. Keep up the great work Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 10, 2011 Author Posted November 10, 2011 (edited) Thanks 'bootz' and 'Phred' for your kind words, YES that lift does work....you must use both gear wheels at the same time and thanks to the 8 wide gap with an 8 wide plate we have a tight-ish fit. Very final updates today....I have been busy finishing Main Street. Oh, yeah the chain saw - I feel mine beats Lego's 2012 and it does fit a minifig perfectly. Edit - 'bootz' you asked for close up shots of the hoist. Edited November 11, 2011 by lightningtiger Quote

Edit - 'bootz' you asked for close up shots of the hoist. Sorry it took a while to reply. I was working Saturday and we took a family trip into New York City yesterday so I haven't had much time to post. How is the bottom piece connected? Quote
HighFlyer Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Very clever design of the lift, and nice sticker too Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 14, 2011 Author Posted November 14, 2011 (edited) Very clever design of the lift, and nice sticker too Thanks 'HighFlyer', I only have to design a 5/6 wide car to drive onto the hoist....huge challenge for me as I only like realism and in Lego...well ? Edit - calculated the length of a 6 wide Fiesta.....14 studs long by 6 studs wide by 5 bricks high. Edited November 14, 2011 by lightningtiger Quote

Edit - calculated the length of a 6 wide Fiesta.....14 studs long by 6 studs wide by 5 bricks high. A 6 wide Fiesta?? I know it'd have to be big to get some of the details right, but I think it would look far too big for a Fiesta. A 6 wide Mondeo might look right, or a Falcon. Falcon Ute, perhaps? Quote
sens1992 Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 This lift system is fantastic! I have been thinking about building one for the longest time but could not come up with a design that worked. You did it for me! Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 Thanks 'bootz' and 'sens1992' for your comments, a Falcon would be pushing seven wide (including wheel arches)....she's a big car ! Look out for the mega photo posting coming up tonight. Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 Why, the post you may ask but this...... I must now add this from the Ford Motor Company. “The Ford blue oval logo is a registered trademark and has been used with the express permission of Ford Motor Company of Australia Limited” Yep, I have received permission to use the Ford logo for this to go on display in the future (I just have to make a sign saying that phrase to keep the legal people at Ford happy when I go to my next show).
