Also i would really like to know if any body would like building instructions of the finished model when i finish building it,I don't want to wast time on making instructions for it if no one wants them,I have listed the 6 functions below that is in the head : open/close grab powered forward/reverse debarking wheels open/close chainsaw rotate bottom part of head adjust head angle rotate upper half of head Here are some pics: Quote

Montage Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I would love to have instructions for the head. I had a nice design for telescopic grapple that worked real well but I couldn't find enough room in the crane to run a drive line to the head so it would have a leveling system for the grapple. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 Ok thanks guys for expressing interest for instructions for my harvester,there is 1 wee issue though which is that the wires and cables do not go though the truntabble which means thay will twist ,when i am finished the whole thing i will look to biuld a new harvester head for it to fix these issues. I am working on the base of the machine this minute and should have it finished in the next week or so. I will start makeing instructions soon for you all just as soon as i get yet another book on lego softwear power tools as i lost the cd. Quote

Alasdair Ryan Posted May 8, 2011 Author Posted May 8, 2011 I have finished the base which has the tilt mechanism,i hope to have the arm finished before the end of the week. The to tracks are diven by worm gears which are then geared down just at the track sprockets,i hope to have the slew mechanism finished by the middle of the week. I could of had the track drives going through the turntable,but i did it this way as it was easy to do and also it adds a wee bit of weight to the base. Comments welcome!! Quote

There is also a ram in the undercarrige to give it the thing tilt. (when working on the hills or slopes) The chain that you can see is the chain saw that works on a small ram athough it is not moterized it will turn a wee bit with the ram. I forse a slight problem though with the tilting of the uppercarraige, would the weight of the machine cause the turntable to bend? Is the pneumatic cylinder strong enough to handle the weight of the whole machine tilting on just one cylinder? tim Quote
