timslegos Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Can i just add that in the video it might seem a bit slow,it's not it's just the well made video and a bad operator. Operator error, a classic . Anyway... I was actually thinking abbout this project today, and wondering if it will ever be finished . that is a whole lot of hoses! how many functions does it have? Nice job on the finalized harvestor head. tim Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted April 17, 2012 Author Posted April 17, 2012 It has 14 functions. The hoses set me back £60 pounds. Quote
jorgeopesi Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 (edited) It has 14 functions. The hoses set me back £60 pounds. 14 functions! and my shovel has 8 one of them still missing , I know very good what kind of machine I will built next time . For 14 functions in my work system I will need 8 motors or a double gearbox with 5 buuuuuf... Edited April 17, 2012 by jorgeopesi Quote
DarkShadow73 Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Impressive so far Alasdair... I have finished the head of the harvester tonight please let me know what you think. Also i would really like to know if any body would like building instructions of the finished model when i finish building it,I don't want to wast time on making instructions for it if no one wants them,I have listed the 6 functions below that is in the head : open/close grab powered forward/reverse debarking wheels open/close chainsaw rotate bottom part of head adjust head angle rotate upper half of head Quote
DLuders Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Sure, Building Instructions are always welcome. Maybe when the rumored Power Functions LARGE motor gets released in Aug 2012 (with the 9398 4x4 Crawler set), there may be more power provided in a lightweight motor casing to be able to lift the Technic Harvester's main boom if the pneumatics are switched to Linear Actuators.... I was thinking of that last night,it should be easy enough to do.The space needed for this though might be a interesting challenge. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted September 27, 2012 Author Posted September 27, 2012 (edited) Meet the new harvester head.....and a bad operator. The new design uses two micro motors to power both sets of grabs and the other to power the debarking wheels. Pictures to follow soon....... Edited September 27, 2012 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
jorgeopesi Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 We are bad operators but we love machinery , good work. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted September 28, 2012 Author Posted September 28, 2012 As promised here are some pictures...... Quote
timslegos Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Looks pretty compact for the functions. I wish I had some of those micrometers. tim Quote
