Hey I was just wondering if some of you smarter gents out there could answer me a few questions about one of the new pieces in the PoTC sets. The sword sling hasn't really been touched on, and I have a few questions.

I guess I'm asking an owner of the London Escape or other sets with the sling in it, if they could tell me what it is made of? Is it rubber or plastic? How well does it stay on and how well does it work? Do you like that piece?

In addition to that, I was wondering if BrickLink sells the piece yet. I can't find it, but I am terrible at finding anything except for minifigs on that site lol. In the end it's going to come down to price for me, because I know that BrickForge makes them too, and that they are rubber (which I think I would prefer). But I figured I would ask beforehand.

Anyways, thanks in advance.

It's plastic, but it's a softer plastic. It fits over one shoulder and under the opposite arm. It's a fantastic piece we've been waiting for for quite some time...

One way to find a piece on BL, if you don't know what to call it or what category it's in, is to go to the inventory for the set: 4191-1.jpg

Scroll down a little and you find: 95348.jpg Dark Brown Minifig, Utensil Scabbard with Shoulder Strap

Edit: oh... how well does it stay on... I guess I don't really play, but it seems like it stays on well.

I got one in my CC set.

No idea what exactly is it made from. It feels like some sort of plastic, but is VERY elastic, so it may be some kind of rubber too. For me, it is elastic and durable enough.

It stays on a minifig like it should. No way for this thing to slide off a minifig at all. It is a bit tricky to put in with pauldrons (that thing on captain's shoulders), but can be done under a minute. It holds sabres really well, tho only when the hilt is facing the surface. Otherwise, the sword will not fully slide into the holder.

Its basically the same as Indy's bag. Its the same mould except for the fact that instead of a bag there is a rectangle hole to slide the sword into. So if you have Indy's bag then you will know what you can do with it and what restrictions it has when using other mini fig accessories.

Thanks, this is very helpful, and nice to know.

What do you mean "hilt is facing the surface"? Which surface? Could you maybe post a picture?

Thanks again guys, I am really liking the piece but I just want to make sure it is all I want it to be before I buy a bunch for my troops :pir-tongue:

Photos, as you can see, in one configuration of sabre's position the sword slides fully:

And in the other one, a bit more of the sabre is visible:

In both configurations the sword will not fall out, so no worries.

Ok Sweet thanks! I think I get it now lol.

To be honest though, it does look like the sword is in the wrong side of the openning... But then again I don't own it so I wouldn't know lol :pir-grin:

Anyways, thanks again guys, I think the piece is awesome and I like it better than the BF ones, but right now it is about $5 per piece on BL and I need at least 20 of em so no way I am getting any of those soon....

I guess I'll just have to wait until people on BL find out how to get them in bulk just like everything else... lucky dogs...

Yes, he does have it in the wrong way. In any case, even in the way that the box art shows the sword stays in quite well. It is really a pleasing accessory ( although it's only flaw is that it covers up those lovely detailed prints on the figures!).

I'm glad you asked this question so I don't have to! Though, how well does it stay in place if the minifig's arm is turned upwards ? (I know that on Indy's shoulder bag the bag slots under the 'sticky-out edge' of the bottom of the torso, does this too?)

Otherwise, I no longer need to use rubber bands to connect weapons to the minifigure :pir_laugh2:

:shark: Just need to get one somehow...
