Cedric the Brick Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 (edited) Hi! After some building pause, I decided to pick bricks once more. This time, I extended Galladorn castle, removed, changed and added some things. Now, the roofs are all the same color and some things look more realistic. I added a litle more of brown color, and in all, the castle has more powerfull look. Anyway I spent about 300 hours building this, about 15,000 bricks used (lot of bricks are used for interior and the fact that all buildings are modular). Started in February 2010, small project turned into much bigger. The castle serves to protect Lord's family from many enemies this land has in dangerous times. It's located secretly in nature, far away from cities. There is only one road that leads to the castle. The fortress is well protected, with massive walls and several brave knights and sharp archers. The lord Daghotir has defended himself wery well, but just in case, there are several secret passages for quick escape if needed. Also, under the castle, there is a secret cave, used to store weapons and train knights. Lord is known to have small, but deadly army. Here are the begginings of secret organisation, that even the king doesn't know for it. In the castle, there are also prision cells, storages, sleeping quarters, lord's rooms, kitchen,...One house is still under construction. So, what's new: The Mill and the stable were removed, but I extended the main ''rocky'' base and build a solidified house on. The house on one side is still under construction. Also, some plants and trees have been added and road in front of castle. The cart is also different than the original version and I added a new (more castle looking) ladder on top of tower. The elevator/lift now looks more realistic. Some minor changes of interior and thats it. I think that castle now serves more to its main intentions then before, because now its more heavily defended. I still have some plans to make with the castle, but not now (I have no time). Check the full gallery bellow :) (the first 22 pictures are new, exception is the 20th picture). Gregorovich Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Absolutely stunning! It's such a fantastic build. Well done, and thanks for sharing! Quote
Pallantides Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 This is awesome. You've really put a lot of unique details in it. Keep up the great work. It'd be nice to see some more like this in the future. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Great job on this castle Cedric, it sure does look like you've put in a lot of effort to do this one, the massive size and highly-detailed nature of it is clearly evident of all your hardwork. With regards to the build itself, even if a rougher surface for the castle walls would have been more realistic, I must admit the smooth finish still looks good. Overall it's an impressive-looking creation, very well done! Quote
Cedric the Brick Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 Thans for comments. The castle is still not completed yet. I'm planing to add more trees, new drawbridge in front and replace 6x6 tiles for road with bunch of 1x1 rounded bricks. In summer is suppose... Quote
L-space Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 It is looking amazing already. I'm looking forward to your upgrades. Quote
Cedric the Brick Posted April 30, 2011 Author Posted April 30, 2011 Picures now public again. Tomorrow, I will post a newer version of castle, the road has been replaced with more real one... Quote
Captain Becker Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Marvelous job whit this castle Cedric! I love how you did those details on the wall and the small hut or building alo looks great. Does it have an interior? That would be great. Captain Becker Quote
Cedric the Brick Posted April 30, 2011 Author Posted April 30, 2011 Captain Brecker: Yes it has interior, the whole castle has interior. It also has secret hideout under the castle Check gallery: Galladorn Gallery Example: BUT FOR MORE DETAILS of interior and exterior PLEASE CHECK THE GALLERY Quote
Brickdoctor Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 It's massive, it's well done on the inside and the outside, and it's still not done? I can't wait to see what you add next. My favorite part of this is the integration of the 'normal' buildings into the walls of the stone castle. They look great the way you've done them. Quote
Cedric the Brick Posted May 15, 2011 Author Posted May 15, 2011 UPDATE!!! Check first post. New pictures have been added. I replaced that ''clean'' road in front of the castle and replaced it with more ''dirty'' one on side. Some more roads and tons of grass everywhere. Hope you like change, the castle is now finaly finished. After more than a year... Quote
Siercon and Coral Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Beautiful castle, I like a bunch of stuff about it. The first thing that jumped out was the use of the minifigure stands for roofing, great idea! Quote
Mr. McDuck Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 The castle looks great! Nice use of those tiles from collectable minifigures! Hey don't you also have an account at Kockice LUG forum? Quote
Gabe Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Wow, that's huge! So many nice details to take in, both inside and out... I was a bit sad to see that you removed the windmill though, that was one of my favourite bits! Anyway, congrats on completing such a massive and complex build. Quote
