July 19, 201113 yr That dragon general looks awesome. I'm excited to get this set. I would consider multiples just for the knight and the horses barding. I don't see anything wrong with how they made it.
August 6, 201113 yr I agree that it would look better if the printing had a more complete look. I took a picture to compare it to the other Kingdom pieces and it actually isn't all that different from the barding from the prison tower escape set as they booth look like the printing was cut off. Perhaps the Lion piece doesn't appear as noticeable because you can see the black outline and you assume the armor ends there, but they both have the chain mail that appears to be cut off in the middle. The barding from the Crownies and other factions have bad good print jobs across the whole horse, so I know they have the ability to do a better job. The crown knight horse barding has the same gap as the lion knight horse bardings? Well the Final Joust one. The Skeleton Tower one covers the entire piece. EDIT: Wow I got so many of these, yet I never even noticed the Dragon Knight Horse barding is lacking the middle detail. Edited August 6, 201113 yr by lego40k
August 6, 201113 yr It never phased me that the middle was missing. I was just so excited to see some new barding, I overlooked it. It doesn't bother me though. Sure, it would be neat to have the printing all the way across, but I still don't notice it.

Sure, it would be neat to have the printing all the way across, but I still don't notice it. I'm assuming that the 'gap' represents a 'saddle blanket' that is over the chainmail and under the saddle. If you take a look in those pics, you can see the 'rings' continue along the 'gap' (which has the red/white checkerboard) on the one set of barding, while the others are basically bare. I think it's just an easy cost-cutting measure for LEGO, that still provides us with some pretty sweet horse armour.
August 10, 201113 yr Picked this one up today... fantastic value, IMO. I mean, sure, the "prison" is pretty lame and the obligatory siege weapon is predictably useless. But who cares? You get an incredibly butt-kickin mounted knight, 3 more basic minifig dudes and a pile of generally useful Castle parts for $20. Unless you're 100% into keeping complete sets together and never, ever want extra figs and basic bricks for modding/moccing, this is a must-buy set. Even if you have plenty of Lions and Dragons and basic parts already, I think one of these is worth it just for the mounted Dragon Knight. I've got 2 so far, and will gladly snap up a few more as sales pop up. So yeah... don't look at it as a "real" Lego set with something cool to build. It's just a high-value parts pack and army builder that happens to have enough playability to be an inexpensive, mass-market Lego set.
