I think that SP3 is too recent for LEGO to remake for the CMF - What could they do to update and improve the Minifigs aside from giving Brick Daddy printed legs and a cane (and maybe a fur collar if they change his headpiece)? 🫤

They could give Squidman some clothing aside from the cape for starters, the dude is practically running around naked

Here are my guesses for the space series.

Likely

  • Spyrius’s Major Kartofski (The first minifigure with leg printing and first robot minifigure)
  • Classic Space Figure in a new color (Continues a trend)
  • A real world astronaut or scientist
  • Alien Conquest Clinger (A unique figure from a past theme that has a lot of play value)
  • Retro Space Girl (to pair with the Retro Space figure from CMF 17)
  • A costume figure

Less Likely, but Possible

  • Ice Planet’s Doctor Kelvin (The first female minifigure to appear in Space sets, I would have said likely but the trans-neon orange color complicates things)
  • M-Tron (Beloved theme, but no named characters so it might be hard for non classic space fans to understand what the figure represents)
  • Blacktron (Beloved theme, but previously referenced and likely to appear in upcoming rumored black spaceship set)
  • Space Police (Beloved theme, but there has been a recent figure, still we could maybe get a SPIII gangster or SPII green and red figure?
  • Rock Raiders (Beloved theme, but the upcoming City Space sets have crystal mining astronauts already so this might be too similar)
  • Insectoids (Insect themed aliens would definitely stand out)

I feel that those are logical choices.

Looking at all the past themes, here are the choices:

Alien Conquest

Galaxy Squad

Space

Blacktron I

Blacktron II

Classic Space

Exploriens

Futuron

Ice Planet 2002

Insectoids

Life on Mars

M:Tron

Mars Mission

Robo Force

Space Police I

Space Police II

Space Police III

Factory

Spyrius

UFO

Unitron

Is he naked, or is he just wearing a skintight suit? His head is light grey and his hands are dark grey, so it seems that his skin colour is grey; he does have green markings on his head that match those on his torso, but that could just be some kind of space-moss. 🤔

What do you mean by “Space”?

Those new HP, Ninjago, and Marvel battle packs you speak of are not like the old ones he's referring to.  The new ones aren't as nice as the old ones.  Battle packs now are basically small sets with figs in them like the star wars droid pack.  But hopefully if we do get some kind of battle packs they come with at least 4-5 figs like they used to like the dwarf one or skeleton one from the fantasy era of castle.

The old Battle Packs were always Minifigures with their accessories, which the Harry Potter ones were too  - and honestly I think how nice something is varies a lot from person to person ;).

There are two minifigs on BL listed under generic Space, sp061 and sp062.

I guess it’s not a theme on its own but just unclassified space figs.

I mean the old ones had more figs and more weapons.  I really don't see the HP ones as army builders either.  The marvel one had meek in it which was not the greatest but the korg fig was good.

I would have to check, but I think the normal amount was 4 or 5 Minifigures, and the HP ones had 4 - of course you can´t fully compare both since obviously while you can buy 4 or more knights packs with the HP figures it makes just less sense to do so. Anyways the point was just that they still do such packs - just the themes to do them for are sadly missing.

Those are Sandy and Biff; they were sent to Mars on the Spirit and Opportunity rovers in 2003 (and copies were also given out as promotions on Earth).

Descriptive list leaked via Childish Landino, and reposted by FalconFan. So, this should all be legit:

  1. Human robot suit for tiny aliens
  2. Classic Space Robot
  3. Retro Spacewoman (Female version of Series 17 Fig)
  4. M-Tron Redux
  5. Alien in UFO Costume
  6. Grey Alien Tourist
  7. Alien Insectoid
  8. Modern Astronaut
  9. Ice Planet Redux with Space Penguin
  10. Mutated BlackTron
  11. Orian with translucent parts
  12. Space Nurse with Pink Space Baby

I was initially hesitant on this series, but this could actually have a few interesting ones for someone like me with no big ties to the old space themes... Orian sounds almost like a ghost/mythological minifig. I'm also interested in what a "space penguin" could look like, and another space baby. I would need to do more research in order to better appreciate most of these though...

Think we have enough to start a dedicated thread now?

Number eight sounds good. I'll pass on the rest.

They used to have good ones like the oni from Ninjago.  But they have black falcons and lion knights now just make some packs like they used to have in the fantasy era with at least 5 figs they would make a killing.  Also the Ninjago villains would easily be popular but they have stopped making those too.  If they made villain packs of the more recent waves and the new wolf guys they would fly off the shelves.  The fantasy era ones had 5 figs in each pack.

The Space CMF list makes me think the September series will be licensed and not Series 26 as mentioned before

This basically is S26, so I sure hope the autumn series is actually a licensed one again

Yeah. I agree. This feel so much like the Monsters series (aka Series 14) that I still cant believe the Spacw wont be actually Series 26

....

About the licensed series for September. What could it be?

Lego should be wary of releasing more Marvel ones now that the brand is at a low point (right?)

Disney itself is in hot water as well

Fortnite feels too late as it would be almost a whole year after the release of the LEGO/Fornite game

Not really; popular characters and instalments are still popular, so we could get a CMF that fills in the gaps and gives us characters/variants that we are unlikely you get in sets (Stealth Suit Cap, Mobius, red-and-white Falcon, Wanda’s/Vision’s/Ralph’s Halloween costumes, any of Thor’s side characters, Infinite Ultron, Strange Supreme, etc).

It is also a whole year for people to play and enjoy LEGO Fortnite, so the property will be more established within both communities and sell better than Overwatch did (since those just kind of dropped out of nowhere, and were often stocked in the gaming section rather than the LEGO section!).

I think the reason we’re not likely to get a Disney or Marvel series next year is because we just got both of those this year and Lego doesn’t really do the licenses back to back like that.

Fortnite has been so popular for so long that I don’t think waiting a little under a year since the game drop would hurt sales of a hypothetical cmf. Especially since it would give players a chance to see all the skins in action a develop favorite designs that they’d then be eager to get in real life.

That said, I wouldn’t discount a new theme coming out of left field or something like the muppets returning for a series 2. We just don’t have anything to go off yet other than ‘likely a licensed series’.

If LEGO is to revisit this idea of a theme which crosses over with other themes like they did this year with Space (City, Friends, Technic, Duplo, Creator, CMF, ...) I wonder if they will go with something like "Oceans" instead of "Castle" and "Pirates".

An Ocean based CMF would have plenty of past themes to reference (Aquanauts, AquaRaiders, Aquasharks, Hydronauts, Seatron, Stingrays, Alpha Team: Mission Deep Sea, Atlantis, ...) you could even include Pirates under a broader Ocean theme.

A theme where aliens from different factions form an alliance to defeat humans would be hilarious

Like DC's Legion of Doom with aliens from Alien Conquest, UFO, Galaxy Squad, Life in Mars, Space Police, etc 😄

It would had been a great way to celebrate the anniversary of the Space theme

I agree about Disney/Marvel for 2024. Doubtful we get either of those anytime soon.

As for Fortnite, I'd really love that, but I have a gut feeling that if we get that, it'll be for 2025 at the earliest.

Muppets s2 is possible, so is Looney Tunes s2 (unless that one sold poorly or something). I still have a feeling we are getting s26 like what was previously rumored. I don't hate licensed sets, for the record, but something tells me they might not have something concrete ready for 2024. Feels like they might get "experimental" and try fully unlicensed for a year to see how those do.

I just don't see Fortnite working as a Minifigures series. If there is ever a video game licensed series, I would expect something like a general Nintendo theme covering multiple games (though that might entail complicated licensing issues). I think the most likely candidates for the next licensed series would be a third Harry Potter or second DC series, but I would prefer to be surprised by something completely new.

I would really prefer this myself. I'd like a new licensed thing, I just don't know what the options would be aside from the "big" ones like Harry Potter, DC, Marvel, Disney, etc.

Hmmm...looking at which themes have either not gotten any attention from Lego, or have not gotten enough attention relative to its popularity:

DC would be great, although some would disagree. This would be a good opportunity to feature the rest of the Suicide Squad.

Marvel with classic comics versions of characters. Long-time missing: Heimdall and Odin.

Animal Crossing

Sonic

Muppets 2

Looney Tunes 2

Sesame Street

Super Mario (minifigs)

Make any series you want and you will find some who disagree ;).

Most interesting for me would likely be either an other Harry Potter Series or a Lord of the Rings one. Aside from that I can only think of themes that are very unlikely to get.

I could totally agree with DC Series 2 as long as they do some Teen Titans stuff with it

I actually thought of LOTR but wasn't there something in their licensing agreement preventing Lego from making a CMF series, the same way Lego can't make SW CMFs? That is why Lego just keeps making battle packs for SW.
