The autumn series will be licensed though, luckily  Personally, I pefer having two licensed and one numbered series every year, but I can live with the reverse too :shrug_oh_well:

Hope it‘s something exciting!

and a tree frog, brachiosaurus, pteranodon, cow, mouse, kangaroo, platypus and saber tooth tiger would be great as well!

Cow and Sabertooth are choices I like too, as for dinosaurs tho, I feel like we might get a Raptor costume next

Lion

I mean, it has to happen, right?

I can't believe we dont have one yet

Indeed. A lion hood mold already exists (from one of the Harry Potter CMF series).

The cowardly lion was in the Movie CMFs.

That's a specific character; I think we're envisioning more of a generic minifigure generically dressed as a lion.

The Cowardly Lion has a very distinctive look to his mane that wouldn't work for a more generic lion costume.

Anyway, I decided to tally up the existing animal costumes from CMF and BAM by category, counting species only, not color variations:

Mammals

  • Bear (more of a teddy bear suit than a "real" bear costume)
  • Bunny
  • Cat
  • Dog (pug)
  • Elephant
  • Fox
  • Giraffe
  • Gorilla
  • Llama
  • Panda
  • Pig
  • Raccoon
  • Tiger
  • Wolf

Birds

  • Chicken
  • Penguin
  • Turkey

Reptiles

  • Lizard/Godzilla
  • T. rex
  • Triceratops

Fish

  • Shark

Bugs

  • Bee
  • Butterfly
  • Ladybug
  • Spider

Mythical

  • Dragon
  • Unicorn

(And then there's that recent BAM figure that I think is supposed to actually be an anthro unicorn, not a costume.)

Did I miss any?

Thanks for this list!

I think it would be important to distinguish some of the "minifigs dressed in an animal costume" which is the 'standard' version from CMFs, from the variations in BAM and City where you find an animal costume headgear but the body is usually in some "civilian attire" or in an unrealistic color for that animal. They also appear in the CNY sets. I guess we can somehow call them mascots? Some of them have never made it to the actual 'standard' version, and some have.

In addition to your list above:

Chicken: yes there is the CMF version; plus the yellow chick from BAM and hol144

Blue bird: BAM 1Q 2024 that we are getting

Not sure about that tiger costume lady even though she was on the CMF roster - she only has cat ears for her head costume, unlike the rest. There is also a tiger cub version from BAM.

Some BAM/ City mascots that are variants of CMF versions:

Shark in a suit

Pink elephant

Blue pug

CNY Panda

CNY costumes: (those with * means they have not been made as official CMFs with an actual animal costume body)

Tiger (this has a proper head costume)

Ox*

Rabbit (this has a proper rabbit face as well)

Rat*

City:

Polar Bear*

Penguin

Yellow bird?/ Chicken?

Oh, @Karalora, I thought you are into seasonal stuff becuase you forgot to mention REINDEER costume from Series 23!

...probably because in my collection, it's stored with the holiday sets and minifigs, not the rest of the animal costumes.

Thanks for the catch!

I was thinking abut space babies lately then I have an odd ithought. What if we will see a baby dressed just like space baby does?

like… Knight baby? Ninja baby? Pirate baby with hate+beard piece? Punky baby with tomahawk hair? Racer baby?

Gonna be interesting to see them in CMF or random sets.

Mecha Pilot Baby?

Huh... I guess we were right in guessing that it would be a licensed theme, though I'm surprised it wasn't Animal Crossing or Fortnite. Still, the descriptions sound promising (description from Bricktap, visual links my own):

  1. Female dwarf barbarian with axe, and torch (bearded alt face). Possible new mold for axe.
  2. Githyanki warlock with eye staff, and possible new molds for knife and hair.
  3. Tiefling sorcerer with red baby Dragon and new molds for hair/horns and trans-pink claws (?)
  4. Dragonborn Paladin with shields and mace. Vidiyo dragon head. Possible new mold for armor and mace head.
  5. Halfling druid with fancy cape, bird and staff. New mold for antlered hood.
  6. Aarakocra ranger with bow and small dog. Faun legs, possible new mold for head and wings.
  7. Mindflayer with intellect devourer (new molds for head and devourer)
  8. Strahd Von Zarovich with sword, goblet, rat, and cape.
  9. Halfling bard Half-Elf Bard with printed lute and sword. Possible new mold for hair and scarf.
  10. The Lady of Pain with a printed cube and fancy cape. New mold for headpiece.
  11. Szass Tam with trans-red skull, energy blast, and dark red collared cape
  12. Tasha the Witch Queen with book and cauldron. Uses Hocus Pocus witch hat and hair piece.

I have no idea if those images are super accurate or not, but that does help give me some idea what to expect. I think it could be a cool one, and it has some good army building potential as well for a lot of them. If anyone with more D&D knowledge can shed some light, though, I'd be greatful!

Edit: A few minor updates:

  • The halfling bard ins a half-elf
  • The dwarf, githyanki, tiefling, halfling, and half-elf have masculine and feminine alt faces.
  • The gith is yellow. Dragonborn appears to be pearl gold, tiefling is orange, aaracokra is white.
  • The printed box that the Lady of Pain carries has a red circle with a blue mountain printed on it, with gilding along the edges (anyone know what that might be?)
  • There is no skin printed on any of them (I assume that means legs/torsos?), except for the aaracokra's legs.

This sounds amazing! What a nice addition to the Ideas set  So many new pieces!!

This makes up for the sad news that the Wicked and Wednesday sets will allegedly feature minidolls

Wait you just said Wednesday. Is it confirmed?

Wow, I definitely wasn’t expecting a D&D series. Sure, it’s an obvious choice, especially with the Ideas set coming, but I kinda figured there’d be mini making companies foaming at the mouth at the thought of Lego doing an extensive series of officially licensed minifigs. I’m surprised the various contacts that must exist permitted it, I figured it would be blocked like Star Wars is.
