Lion King Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 This is definitley unlikely but i wish lego would include Jewish minifigur with menorah. Quote

This has me curious just how a typical menorah would best be achieved in minifigure scale... you certainly couldn't use existing candle or flame pieces and have it be a reasonable scale with nine whole candles side by side. DarrellBricker Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 I am rather surprised that Lego hasn't done a dedicated "Winter Holiday" series yet, although you could argue they came close with CMF series 23 where five to six of the 12 figures were all holiday-related. I would think with the popularity of the Winter Village theme, more characters to liven up MOCs would be well received. But what do I know? I still want a follow up to the Series 14 Halloween/Monsters series. :D Quote

Instead of using a pair of plain white legs, they should introduce a new “skirt” dome that torso can be attached to jjjjjsut liiiiiike Queen from Series 15 (or 16?). And there are so many that we havne’t gotten such as Father Christmas in green uniform, little boy with drum, kid with advent calendar (similiar to the actual City Advent Calendar set), a elf with reindeer fawn, etc. Quote

I think the simple answer is that it shouldn't be done. If people want candles, they can use the existing three candle candelabra and religion can be left out of LEGO. Religion shouldn't be in toys, the same toy could be seen as mocking or celebrating a specific religion depending on viewpoint. Quote

That could be slightly more compact, but you'd probably want separate flame pieces so kids could role play lighting them a day at a time—and nine flame pieces side by side, while potentially smaller than using candlesticks, would still be almost four studs wide at a minimum! I dunno. Probably getting a little off topic, but it is an interesting design challenge to think about. Quote

Sure, it lacks crosses and window display that depicts Jesus Christ, but Notre Dame is still recongiized as a Chrisitaiini site of worshipping. 4 minutes ago, Lyichir said: That could be slightly more compact, but you'd probably want separate flame pieces so kids could role play lighting them a day at a time—and nine flame pieces side by side, while potentially smaller than using candlesticks, would still be almost four studs wide at a minimum! I think we are not on same page. i meant to say a single-molded menorah wiith separable candle flame piece. But yes, i would be very curiiiiiious how Lego do that menorah element too! Quote

Karalora Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Christmas and Easter LEGO sets are, to the best of my knowledge, based exclusively on the secular side of these holidays. Though it's debatable to what extent they can be separated from their religious legacy. Quote
Artanis I Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 (edited) But... Christmas and Easter sets have never had anything remotely to do with Jesus Christ or Christianity. Nothing 'religious' has been depicted whatsoever. Coloured eggs, pointy trees, fat man in a red suit, yes. That stuff isn't "religion in toys". The Chinese stuff might be a different matter. That's an interesting take doesn't make much sense though. And yes Christmas and Easter as holidays have a lot to do with Jesus Christ. They've also done sets of ancient egypt and made Anubis Edited December 4, 2024 by zoth33 Quote
Clone OPatra Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Yeah, we've been down this road before and had to shut it down. There are always people who come out of the woodwork and claim that Christmas and Easter as depicted in LEGO don't relate to anything actually Christian. Which to me is absolute bollocks (they're Christian holidays after all), but anyway... Let's not have this discussion again. Quote
Karalora Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 You could also point out that people might not want the genuinely sacred parts of their religion commodified as, let's be honest, rather silly-looking toys. Quote

Clone OPatra Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 I already said not to discuss it anymore. So don't discuss it. I have hidden the extra comments discussing it. Quote
Lion King Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Agreed on not to discuss. I feel it’s a good idea to have “Winter Holiday” series just like Halloween-themed Series 14. There are so many minifigures from winter holidays that we never had before (i did mention some ideas in my earlier posts here0. Sure, some of minifigures might be more “City/Winter Village”. Quote

Cartoon Network seems to specialize in characters with the kind of exaggerated proportions that would be hard to translate into proper minifigs. Quote

With some of those I'm not sure how well they'd adapt to minifigures... the varied art styles and physiques of many of those characters means that they might not look right with the much more limited variety of minifigure builds. Dexter's extremely short build and Deedee's twig-like torso and limbs in particular seem like they'd be a challenge to make into satisfactory minifigures. Quote
