Dexter's extremely short build and Deedee's twig-like torso and limbs in particular seem like they'd be a challenge to make into satisfactory minifigures. Looney Tuens, Muppet and Disney series say hello. Quote
Murdoch17 Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 (edited) Grim, Billy and Mandy, Dexter and Deedee, Courage, Muriel and Eustace, Ed, Edd, & Eddy, the main five KND, Regular Show's crew, and the Foster Home for Imaginary Friends' gang would all be dreams come true in sets of a CMF or two. After all, we got the Powerpuff Girls and Adventure Time in several sets / Dimensions, what about some of their contemporary shows from those eras? (Speaking of AT, we were really done dirty by not getting the whole main cast as minifigs...) Heck even Uncle Grandpa's RV might sell. I'd buy it, just for the zaniness / strange cast of characters! You'll notice that with all of these, the signature exaggerated feature that makes the character recognizable is the head, while the bodies and limbs are less extreme and/or less important to the aesthetic of the character. CN shows like to experiment wildly with character shape and silhouette (@Lyichir mentions Dexter and Dee Dee for a perfect case in point), which would be utterly demolished by homogenization into the minifigure form. I mean...I love Steven Universe, and I think some of the Gem constructions would make stunning models, but the characters would look awful as minifigures. The wide variety in body shapes and sizes is a big part of the point of those character designs. Quote

Duh, Road Runner and Tweenty from Looney Tunes, Stitch and Jack Skellington from Disney, Kermit from Muppets becuase of shapes of thier bodies. I won’t be surprised what will Cartoon Network minifigures look like. Stitch and Tweety look very small on TV screen yet they ok oversized next in minifigure form. Jack and Kermit are skinny becuase of their twig-thin arms and legs yet they look “funny” in minifigure form. No big suprise….. And Homer from Simpson looks funny without his belly in minifigure form, by the way. Quote

The wide variety in body shapes and sizes is a big part of the point of those character designs. Yeah, this was what I was trying to get at. Certain cartoons just inherently work better with the minifigure body plan than others. An imprecise rule of thumb I sometimes use for how well/how easily I feel figs would be adapted to minifigures is "how decent would these characters look as human-portrayed mascots (like you see at theme parks or the like)? For characters like most Disney Princesses, it doesn't feel too off at all for regular humans to portray the characters—so regular figs work just fine, even without molded heads. For characters like Looney Tunes or Muppets characters, you could reasonably recognize them if they were a human in a suit with a foam head, so molded heads are mostly all you need. But for characters who really stretch the limits of human proportions to much more bizarre extremes, using regular minifigures for them is much more of a tough sell. Incidentally, sometimes certain characters work with a minifigure even if not all characters from a franchise do. With Karalora's Steven Universe example, I could see Garnet, Steven, and Amethyst working decently as minifigures, but Pearl's long, thin limbs and prominent pointed nose are harder to adapt. A broad-focus CMF series might be the best way to adapt some of these sorts of series, to be honest—since you could include one or two prominent characters who do work well as minifigures without having to stress over adapting every major character. Lion King Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 I continue wishing for fantasy/sci-fi/prehistoirc creatures to show up in non-licensed CMF series instead of extant/realistic animals. We only had robot dog and space penguin from Space Series 26. Personally, I would love to see an unicorn foal, dark phoenix, sea horse (not seahorse) foal, thunderbird, a saber-toothed tiger cub, a new dino baby, new alien speices that we never saw before in Lego history, a Phoenix chick, a prehistoirc turtle with spiky shell, space cat, an magical icy bird, etc. Quote

As for a new baby dino, I'm willing to bet on a baby Carno since we already have baby variants of both the Rex and the Raptor, unless it could give us a more accurate baby Rex Quote

It’s jsut weird to see Dino Hunter from Series 10 or 11 - she didn’t come with dino bay but just lame bow and tranquilizer. Quote

Not OP, but given that the show ended in 2007 and isn’t well-known by kids today, doesn’t seem to have a cult-following of nostalgic adult fans, and is not present in current media… I’d say pigs will fly before that ever happens. I think people in this forum tend to forget that LEGO is here to make money. The majority of the money is with the kids and what’s popular. It’s why it makes no sense at all to submit a build based on a niche show/series/etc. for IDEAS. If it doesn’t appeal to the masses, it won’t be done. Quote

1Panda Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 (edited) I think if we get two regular series in 2026 one will probably be a themed series at least that’s how it’s been in 2022 and 2024 so I’d expect them to do that again but of course this is Lego and they seem to like setting patterns then completely abandoning them as they please with no explanation Edited December 11, 2024 by 1Panda Quote

I didn’t think of that way until now. Of course Lego is purely unpredictable - it keeps changing its pattern over years. But if your theory is true, then 2028 would have two regular series and one of them would be 50th annivesary of minifigures. Quote
