I suspect actual licensed minifigures of conservationists would be saved for a 21312-like DTC set, though "stealth" releases in the CMF line will happen at some point. LEGO already has the parts in the catalog to make a blatant "not-Steve Irwin" CMF. DTC? Anyways, I think 3131-style set would do great. And i agree on what you said. But I just think conservatist/animal-themed CMF would be wonderful. Quote

Including animal molds! :D Of course…Lego has to ask famed conservationists/scietnists or their family members for permission. It would be unlikely for sure if Lego doesn’t go for it. We have had ones like the diver with turtle recently and the zoo keeper with chimp longer ago. In that sense, why bother making anything more accurate and needing permission. Jacques Cousteau becomes diver in wetsuit, Steve Irwin becomes generic Croc keeper, and so on. Quote

Yes I know there are driver and zookeepers in regular CMF. But, eh, I would like to see conservationist minifigures would be more accurate and fleshie… However, I agree with you on “generic” part tho, I guess. Quote

Robert8 Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 After seeing the sets they're releasing this year, I wouldn't rule out anything I wouldn't put past TLG a YouTubers CMFs honestly. Quote

I think LEGO are reluctant to attach themselves with current celebrities as a result of cancel culture. YouTubers especially get cancelled left and right and that could result in the series being done before it even hits shelves. :S Also fame on YouTube is also not consistent. LEGO plans these series a year and a half in advance so there’s a chance that some of the people’s fame could have declined or they could have moved platform. I think there’s too many variables that will prevent a YouTubers/modern pop stars/influencers/celebrities series from ever happening. TeriXeri Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 (edited) YouTubers? What's next ? Twitch ? , Twitter ? Instagram ? Facebook ? TikTok? Also consider the minimum age for YouTube account officially is 13 years old, and 13-17 years with parental permission, so it would be an 18+ (adults welcome) series. I know the closest to a real-world CMF so far has been the German Soccer team, and LEGO had NBA players long ago as their self, and even then, DFB series seemed to focus mostly on the actual DFB and adidas branding around it to justify the series, rather then being standalone single "famous" people. I still think in a context like YouTube or other social media, that's different from sports or being an actor/actress playing a "character" for Harry Potter/DC/Marvel/Star Wars/Sitcom for example And while there are so many clickbait titles like most popular youtuber , streamer, or whatever out there, raw viewer/subscriber numbers aren't a simple way to make a selection either, I don't think it would reflect the platform and LEGO combined very well, especially in a limited selection Random bag type of series, 12-16 slots isn't a whole lot, and I think it's safer for LEGO to continue their movie/series type of characters, or do Mario/Sonic etc, whatever they have licensed instead of Social Media. Even so, regarding LEGO's licenses, with the situation at Blizzard right now, the return of Overwatch, let alone Overwatch CMF (to fill the gaps in the roster) seems questionable. I'd rather see more varied generic minifigs overall, with different hair colors and hairstyles, and prints, rather then being focused to lookalike a real person and the possible controversy around it (things are taken out of context a lot on social media these days) Even the Everyone is Awesome set had a lot of reactions, for all sorts of reasons. Other than real-world DFB CMF and that NBA stuff, you forgot to mention Amelia Earhart. She was the real-world female pilot even tho she is not in CMF at all. Anyways, i agree with you. I don’t think YouTuber CMF would be a great idea. As I mentioend in my other post here, I think Conservationist CMF would be a cool one (for example, including Steve Irwin with baby croc and Jane Goodall with with champ). However, I took it back what I said originally. I think generic minifigures should be good enough as long as they look like some real-world conservationists/biologists/animal scientists. Quote

sunhuntin Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 Didn't we get a Youtuber a few series back, the guy with the green hair? I don't recall his name, and he wasn't someone I had heard of. I would find it funny if they did a series based on popular/well known LEGO reviewers on various platforms... Jang, Whitefang [from here], and whoever else. Jang would have to come with two heads, a regular minifig and the Twitch one. Quote
User5346 Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 Sorry, but I doubt LEGO will make a youtuber/influencer series. Pretty obvious of it’s unlikelyness… Quote

That works fine if they want to do generic rocket scientist, generic microscope user, and so on. But if the character was clearly meant to represent a real person, then more realistic skin tones are probably better. 5 hours ago, DBlegonerd7 said: Other than real-world DFB CMF and that NBA stuff, you forgot to mention Amelia Earhart. ToaIruini Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 I’m hoping these don’t sell well so they discontinue these boxes before Series 22 and beyond. It’s fine as long as they keep the individual bling bags. But these boxes shouldn’t be the primary way they are sold. Quote
Robert8 Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 I didn't even know this was a thing for the Looney Tunes Quote
MAB Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 What are the CMF meant to be these days? It used to be primarily an impulse buy, a cheap toy near a checkout. Whereas selling boxes of six random ones prices it way higher but less convenient and I think less attractive than buying a regular LEGO set where you know what you are getting. Quote

If you think about it, if this 6-pack turns out to be successfull, it can become its own thing. 6-minifigures pack with licensed characters with CMF budget. Like premium character packs from licenses. If they all belong to a license, it makes more sense to sell them together as they all are from the same movie, TV Show, franquise, etc... And the regular CMFs can still be bags. Regular CMF dont really belong together because they are random characters (except Series 14). So this 6 pack box dont really work for them Quote
