Actor Builder Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 or pay ridiculous prices for some figures. So instead you'll pay $4.00 each for them, makes sense. Quote
tafkatb Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 So instead you'll pay $4.00 each for them, makes sense. Well... yeah. Considering even the most basic, common Batman figure tends to go for five or six bucks plus shipping on the aftermarket, four dollars is pretty reasonable. Quote
blackknightrises Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 So instead you'll pay $4.00 each for them, makes sense. $4.00 is a lot more reasonable than paying say $24.00 for a Scarecrow minifigure off Bricklink. A lot of those rare figures aren't cheap in the slightest. Quote
Rogue Angel Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 The difference between four dollars and six dollars is negligible when you consider you'd be devoting an entire series to this. We want a full CMF line so those people that missed the batman sets, or don't want to pay for the figures can save, what - $40 or $50, or maybe $150 if they buy the whole line vs. BL costs (which would only be a few people). It's all in how you buy Lego. People that are willing to/can afford to spend more on Batman Lego will get much less benefit then the people that can't afford it, or allocate their Lego funds to other lines/sets. The people that would benefit most from this would be young Batman fans aging into Lego (~4-7 year olds) that don't have a Lego Batman collection yet. Quote
just_one Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 i would love for a Marvel or DC Minifig Series but i think that will never happen due to the sets and most people sometimes just buy a set for a specific minifigure (quicksilver minifig as an exemple) Quote
rob-ot5000 Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 So instead you'll pay $4.00 each for them, makes sense. Considering the author of this post, I knew this had to be sarcastic or a joke ( ), but for the life of me, I don't get it either. $4 is a bargain compared to some of the figures out there! I figured I'd just ignore it, but since other people mentioned it as well, yeah, sign me up: I don't get it. Take it easy, there, fella! Quote
Robert8 Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Some of us can't buy every set or pay ridiculous prices for some figures. Every theme has expensive minifigures: Marvel, DC, Star Wars....... so each LEGO theme should have a CMF line? Quote
Actor Builder Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Sure, compared to many other LEGO minifigures, $4 is low, right? But then think about the fact that LEGO is plastic. I love LEGO, but even $4 is a lot for a little plastic man. I still buy them, yes. Because I love LEGO like all of the rest of you do, but I don't like to pretend that $4 is cheap. That's all. This is what I get for posting something that wasn't a joke or sarcasm, I suppose. I'll stick to the jokes and sarcasms. No joke, no sarcasm. Good day! Quote
x105Black Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Well let's just hope they don't go any higher than $4 any time soon. I think they've hit a decent threshold for now. Quote

When you consider the quality of the parts and design, and sometimes the licensing fees, I think those $4 become more reasonable. Quote
Rogue Angel Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 $4 for a fig that cost $2.50 5 years ago? That's a bit much. Admittedly, licensing adds a little, but not for the standard series. The jump from $3 to $4 has limited how many I'm buying, and any additional price increases will significantly reduce my interest in army building CMFs. Quote
Actor Builder Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 The jump from $3 to $4 has limited how many I'm buying, and any additional price increases will significantly reduce my interest in army building CMFs. Precisely. Thank you for explaining me better than I could. Quote

Thank you for explaining me better than I could. Ah. I guess I get it now. I'm late to the game, though. They've always been $4 for as long as I've been buying them. Less than that sounds heavenly, but I'm okay at $4. But yeah, increases would be hard to bear.. Quote
Borex Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Well they increased in quality as well right? Dual molded parts. Always a lot of new molds and prints. I wish they made a better slope brick for dresses though. With better pins to fit a torso and a bit smaller so they'll have the same height as minifigs with legs. Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Well they increased in quality as well right? Dual molded parts. Yes, exactly. We're paying more but we're getting more. Quote

I wish they made a better slope brick for dresses though. With better pins to fit a torso and a bit smaller so they'll have the same height as minifigs with legs. We've been getting 10-16 new molds per series since series 4, at $3.00 each, so no, we're not getting more new molds for $4. Simpsons probably did, but again, that was also licensed, which is not the discussion at hand. Quote
Master_Data Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 One thing I've noticed is that they've been on sale more often since the price increase, so it's still possible to get them for around the same price as before if you hold out long enough. For example, I just got six characters for $3.39 each. That was what I had to pay before the price increase anyways. Just wait around for sales and you'll get a good deal. Quote
Robert8 Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 (edited) The dual molded arms were introduced in the Simpsons CMF and the dual molded legs were introduced in the Superheroes theme (I think....) so they had nothing to do with the regular CMF series price The price went from $3 to $4 from S12 onwards to pay for the LEGO Minifigures Online game Edited April 19, 2016 by Robert8 Quote
Aanchir Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Every theme has expensive minifigures: Marvel, DC, Star Wars....... so each LEGO theme should have a CMF line? Given the right circumstances, yes. You have to bear in mind that a theatrical movie is the kind of thing that can create a surge in demand. So if there was a LEGO Marvel Super Heroes theatrical movie then yes, a CMF line for that theme would probably be a good call! That's something I think AFOLs often miss out on. Sets, themes, and minifigures aren't made because there's a NEED for them, they're made because there's an AUDIENCE for them. Sure, there might have already been a set of such-and-such a character or such-and-such a vehicle or such-and-such a location two to four years ago, but if there are enough younger fans that there's a substantial audience for a new version, that can be all the justification LEGO needs. Just look at LEGO City: AFOLs routinely get on that theme's case for being repetitive and having police and fire waves every year, and yet City still routinely ranks among the bestselling themes and the bestselling sets each year. Whether or not the need is there, the audience certainly is, and from a business standpoint that's generally the more important factor. Quote

CM4Sci Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 It makes me wonder - how much longer will they go? There are still things I want done (chef, firefighter) and they still haven't done them. They also still haven't done purple bags. Quote
