CM4Sci Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 (edited) I still have a wishlist of +450 characters Whoa, how? How can you have 450+ types of people? Share a few? Edited April 23, 2016 by CM4Sci Quote
just2good Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Series 17 is coming next year so I think it's Jan - 17 May - Disney 2 Sept - Ninjago More like Jan - Batman Movie May - 17 Sept - Ninjago Quote
Robert8 Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Well... I have to say it's good to see the regular CMF's returning to the May slot for the first time since Series 10 Quote
CM4Sci Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 More like Jan - Batman Movie May - 17 Sept - Ninjago Alright, whatever, I was close. Quote
just2good Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 It's subject to change. I guess if Disney sells a gazillion units (which I wouldn't doubt), maybe they'll rush out a series and do four a year. But that's what it is for now. Quote
DarthPotato Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 I'm really glad we're getting Series 17. There should definitely always be at least one normal series per year. I was still hoping we'd get a Disney Series 2 mainly so we could get Goofy. It'd be a pretty big fail on LEGO's part if they released Daisy Duck but not Goofy... Quote
LegoPercyJ Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 More like Jan - Batman Movie May - 17 Sept - Ninjago We.. we are getting a Batman Movie series? Quote
makoy Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 What kind of minifigs will be in Batman series? All Batman costumes ever made? Quote
Actor Builder Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 I would not be surprised if next year was completely licensed stuff. Being like so: LEGO Batman Movie Disney 2 Ninjago Movie I've had a feeling for a while that series 17 might be a series filled with one of each of the figures from series 1-16. With a year-long gap, that would seem even more likely. Pure speculation, of course. I'm inclined to believe Just2Good's information, but it's still quite a ways away from now. So who knows? Quote
Rogue Angel Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 It is frustrating that we are down to one real CMF series a year. For myself, Disney, Ninjago and Batman are are all of very limited use. I may buy 5 or 6 figs from each (if that) while I will typically buy 40-75 of each standard series and be able to significantly augment my collection. It will save me money, but without castle and with Star Wars getting ridiculously expensive, I haven't been buying much new Lego as it is. Quote

But that's what it is for now. Well, in this case, it'll say only the Batman CMF series is confirmed because they can't change that at this point I mean, those have to be on production right now (considering the precedent with Series 14) I've had a feeling for a while that series 17 might be a series filled with one of each of the figures from series 1-16. A lot of us wouldn't buy a single bag because we already have them all I don't see it happening, but if it happens, I doubt it will be "Series 17". It could a special series or something Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Re-releases of old sets have usually not gone well for Lego. Legends, anyone? Quote
rob-ot5000 Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Re-releases of old sets have usually not gone well for Lego. Legends, anyone? Um....what's that? Quote
x105Black Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Re-releases of old sets have usually not gone well for Lego. Minifigures aren't old sets. They are minifigures, and were only available for a limited time (more limited than most sets on average). While I don't expect them to make Series 17 a best of series, it is entirely possible and I wouldn't mind at all. In fact, I would love that. It would give me (and many others) a chance to pick up minifigures from previous series that we missed out on. And I'd say the Chicken Suit Guy at Easter this year is a good example of how that can be successful. Quote
tafkatb Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Um....what's that? Exactly. (Legends was a line from the early 2000's that rereleased "classic" sets. They did not sell well.) Quote
CM4Sci Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Oh, that, yeah. I think that's how I found Castle 2013, actually, I was on a site and under LEGO Legends they had listings for future unknown castle sets. Quote

This is just speculation but I think 2018 will be the same It's pretty safe to assume The LEGO Movie 2 will get a CMF series, and we've been getting a licensed series per year since 2013 (Simpsons 1, Simpsons 2, Disney and Batman). So, there would be room for only one regular CMF series in 2018 Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Minifigures aren't old sets. Technically a CMF is a set that consists mostly of a minifig, and a minifig that hasn't been released since 5 years ago can be considered old by some standards. Quote

Technically scmechnically, there is an obvious difference between a set and a minifigure. Yes, a minifigure may 'technically' be a set, but I don't think it will necessarily suffer the same fate as a set in a re-release situation. It will depend on which minifigures get re-released, obviously, but as long as they are desirable and popular, there's no reason to expect sales to be flat. I still don't expect them to do a re-release minifigure series, and I think that sales will not be quite as good as releasing 16 new minifigures. Quote
BrickFit26 Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 (edited) Yay for Series 17 next year. Not too happy about the batman or ninjago series though Edited April 25, 2016 by BrickFit26 Quote

DarthPotato Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Hey now, no need to hate on Daisy. :P I actually really like that figure and don't mind getting her, but it still feels weird to have her but not Goofy. I'd be interested to see if LEGO actually does try to push for three series in a year... although I feel like that'd be too much. Quote
Robert8 Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Maybe someone should start a thread for the Batman Movie Series? I would do it, but I just don't care enough Quote

And I'd say the Chicken Suit Guy at Easter this year is a good example of how that can be successful. At the same time as killing the series for anyone that has collected it from the start. Why would anyone display 16 duplicate figures in their display, and why would they go on to buy series 18 when their collection misses series 17. Was the Chicken Suit Guy successful? It was a complete flop in the UK. Sainsburys had so many left over they had to sell them off at £1 a box. I wouldn't mind the odd one-off in a set, but not repetition of older characters at all in the series itself. I'd prefer a new variant of a Spartan or Viking or Dwarf or Zombie (like they have already done for the latter) rather than an exact repeat. Quote
