Yeah, I totally understand. Similarly, I would want a Harry Potter series based on the books, not the movies. I believe that LEGO should've always had rights for the books, not the movies, it would provide more room for creativity and sets that look more magical and neat, but yeah, that's a theme for another topic.

That for sure. I don´t think the number of new minifigs (and the troll) in the great hall is there for no reason. Those clearly are supposed to make the decision to buy it easier and especially also for people to start a second or third Hogwarts wave.

Actually, I would much rather prefer they keep making animal and vegetable costume minifigs, although I don't mind they keep doing dinos as well.

I wouldn´t mind if they would keep doing dinos, I am just not sure, how long it will be till they think it would be time for something new.

Sure it would, but on the other hand then they couldn´t depict anything like it was shown in the films, as they wouldn´t have the rights for it. And I doubt Harry Potter Sets that don´t look like the Film characters and especially Hogwarts looking totally different would sell well.

Licensed series are unpredictable at this point, because who even expected a D&D CMF series

It's impossible to guess what they'll release in 2025

Animal Crossing seems like the perfect theme to make a CMF series out of, but I'm hoping a different videogame gets that treatment

With the Lego Minifigure celebrating the 50th anniversary next year, I wonder if they will do a special series to celebrate this - a Series that brings back (updated) Minifigures they formerly did. Then I could see them doing one normal CMF, a 50 years Lego Minifigures one and one Licensed.

I don’t agree wiht Robert8. It’ snot just CmF but its lego itself is unpreditable.

The fear here is what if the CMF is just them bringing back 12 different costume figures.

Yup as I mentioend, it happened twice. I repeat, twice. 

When there was 40th annivesary of Minifigures, we got Series 18.

When there was 90th annivesary of lego, we got Series 22.

I just realised that Lego might actually not celebrate it next year, because the 50th anniversary is actually just 2028. Stonewars stated it would be next year in their article about the Ideas Minifig-Prize-Machine. But actually next year it will be 50 years of the minifigures that had no faceprints or movable arms/legs and if we look at the first costumed minifigure series for the 40th anniversary it is clear that Lego doesn´t consider them as minifigures. They could still celebrate 50 years Lego figures though, just not sure how likely that is.

Anyways, I would really hope for a retro series instead of yet another costume one, though of course the costume series also gave us great minifigures.

40th anniveary in 2018, not 50th. And the first minfigures were introduced in 1978. 

Not sure what you mean by lego not onsieeirng as minifigures? Series 18 tell us that they do celebrate - birthday cake, party hats, clown, ballooon, orange baseplate, and even classic policeman.

Well, i marked the wrong word  since you mistyped “2018” in the first place tho. Thank you for clearing confusion up. :) 

And yes it’s more likely for 2028 for another speical theme, although I’m little uncertain if they would do another ostume theme. 

Regardless, I will be happy to collect more non-licensed minifigures.

Agreed. Some older CMF series need some upgrades as there are new molds, new colors, new printing methods today. 

For example, lifeguard guy has his red swimming suit printed on front and side around his legs but it looks like his buttlocks has been exposed to the public. He does need dual-molded legs. However, new lifeguard won’t have to look exactly like the old version.

I'm from BMF (Before Minifigures) by almost 20 years.  I'm thinking of doing a recreation of what I originally made to represent people for a couple of conventions I'll be attending this summer, what I recall as being my first MOC's that I can remember from the 60's.  I still have those old bricks so it should be interesting to build some stuff from before we really had any instructions. Don't think I can do any vehicles since the original gray rubber tires have mostly dried out.

I was looking at old posts last year, I think we wil know about 1st and 2nd Series of 2025 by end of summer / beginning of fall this year.  Plus, it’s usually that we know about 2nd series by September jsut like with Looney Tunes, Muppet, Series 26 Space in those 3 past years. So we sha see what 2025 will bring us in a few months!

In general, I wish they brought back the Bricktober figure packs that were once exclusive to Toys R Us. Just sell them through Target is my mentality. We got an exclusive Wu and Winter Solider figure for Marvel, plus some cool non licensed figures, many of them legacy characters. That was one of the biggest losses when Toys R Us fell off. I really loved their figure packs. Typically more exciting than some sets I would say.

I want that badly as well. I missed the boat on the black spaceman with the improved torso print that came in those bricktober packs. There are tons of legacy characters that are hard to access so I really think a greatest hits cmf line would be just fine with me. I understand bricklink and PAB are options but even then I'd have to get 15 bucks minimum just to dodge the service charge on PAB, I'm rambling but my point is if I want to get a red, black, blue, or white spaceman I have to either jump through hoops or pay 30+ dollars on one fig.

I know they won't do this, because now that LEGO's realised they can make get people to spend insane amounts on them, but I think LEGO should just include some of the classic space figs in more of those themeless LEGO sets (Like the Alien Pack or Space Diner, though ideally with Air tanks and the right head) just to keep them in circulation. Obviously I wouldn't expect it to be done with all of them but as a way to keep red and white around (as they're the most iconic) and maybe Purple and orange since all their parts are assumedly still in production. I think all the parted together ones should at somepoint get a rerelease as a whole fig

Black and blue would be nice if they'd have the budget for those torso prints but probably not.

Fair point about the white one, we've gathered all but the white tanks just from buying that alien pack, and let me assure you I browse ebay and get wide eyed every other night but a lot of the fair prices aren't in the US so shipping adds a lot to the price, or it can. Then there are other factors to consider, it could be the re issue or not, or be mislabeled as one but end up being the other. 

In a perfect world we'd get a revamped cmf series where you know what you're getting on the box, with a revolving door of new and legacy characters. People adore certain series and would buy them, not just classic space, but Adventurers, Ice Planet, Rock Raiders, I could go on, all of these have sizable passionate communities that would love to get their favorite characters again. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic but maybe it would be profitable.

But I understand the reality that how things are already done is demonstrably profitable for Lego so they have no need to shake things up that drastically. I'd just like it if people could get the figs they want without any uncertainty or hassle. Maybe it's just that isn't the world we live in anymore.

I'm sorry I lost the plot a bit with my posts here. 

I am a bit stoked for the d&d series and can't wait for an official image. I love dark fantasy but I'm the only one in the house that does so I probably will only get a few figs if I like them, but our collection is 95% space themed so there won't really be a place for some of them where they wouldn't feel oddly out of place.

Legacy versions of Frakjaw, Fang-Shui and General Cryptor would have gone pretty hard
