However, I have faith in the designers capacity to surprise us (the Series 24 Potter is a good recent example of a well designed figure wearing protective clothing). My point is that City minifigures are the single largest reoccurring sub theme across past CMF series, so its reasonable to expect that these could get a dedicated series at some point. Sure its not the most exciting, but I expect it would be popular kids. I kinda like your idea on city-themed series. i would love to add some minifigures to my Modular Building Collection or City sets. And face prints are very unique in CMF than City sets - i thik some face prints hav been reused a few times. Of course there are some new fact prints in some City sets. But…i think City has covered so many workers? Like lifeguard, police, firefighter, baker, tow truck drier, etc. Quote
jonwil Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 I would definitely like to see more police in the CMF line, the ones we have gotten in the past are interesting and somewhat different from the generic police we get in City sets. Quote

BrickBob Studpants Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 If there’s any theme that doesn’t need its own CMF series, it’s definitely City It already gets the lion’s share in most regular series, most BAM minifigs are City-adjacent, and then there are the sets themselves. Any other theme (like Pirates or Castle) deserves it way more in my opinion Quote
Lion King Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 You know, police will not come in CMF with gun at all. But it would be cool to see something different about police like Accio Lego said. I think crime scene tech sounds cool. It might be unlikely but i think it would be cute to see a kid dressed up in police clothe for Halloween. Of course, it’s easy to build a minifigure from existing pieces. 2 minutes ago, BrickBob Studpants said: If there’s any theme that doesn’t need its own CMF series, it’s definitely City It already gets the lion’s share in most regular series, most BAM minifigs are City-adjacent, and then there are the sets themselves. True, but a City series would have fewer parts and prints that are unlikely to appear otherwise (contrast this with Space/Castle/Pirates). Having other characters that wouldn’t normally appear in CMF, like the traditional British police constable, is also a way to get interesting figures. An obvious one they could do is a Canadian Mountie style character. Quote

Dudley Do-Right needs to be able to foil Snidely Whiplash's plans, after all! Quote

Many, many, many more magnitudes of people died of Covid than in surgery accidents or from other medical malpractice for the same timeframe. This is a undeniable fact, and your argument is comparing apples and oranges. Don't @ me with a response.. Edited July 11, 2024 by Murdoch17 added the don't @ me line Quote

Karalora Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 People have positive experiences with healthcare providers every day too. And traditionally, LEGO hospitals and clinics have had that "accentuate the positive" vibe--the patient is undergoing a routine checkup, or has suffered a non-life-threatening accident (a broken leg is favorite) and is getting treatment. I don't think we've had a LEGO oncology center, ICU, or morgue. I'm not saying they wouldn't or shouldn't do a medieval plague doctor--which is after all so far removed from everyday life as to be nearly a fantasy figure--but just pointing out that not all depictions of healthcare workers or facilities would be received the same way. And yeah, the world's recent (and ongoing!) experience of COVID might be a reason for a cute colorful toy brand to steer clear of "plague" references. Quote

It might be considered in bad taste or something... If we get another Halloween series at some point, a plague doctor would fit in nicely there; presenting it as a spooky/creepy costume would adequately detach it from any real-world connotations. One thing that I would like to see in an upcoming CMF is a Lion Knight variant - We got one for the Black Falcons that is more lightly armoured, so a heavily-armoured Lion Knight would be a nice addition. I am thinking something like: Helmet - Sallet recoloured in flat silver (no printing), if we get Blue Squire in one of the Fortnite sets. Armour - DnD Dragonborn armour recoloured in flat silver (no printing). Torso - Basically the same print design as the existing Lion Knight, but with the crossed axe crest; flat silver arms and dark grey hands. Legs - Flat silver legs with red hips (or dual-moulded red and flat silver); print is basically the same as the existing Lion Knight legs, but maybe with the belt tied on the opposite side. Accessories - Sword, ovoid shield (red/blue split with yellow border and lion). Edited July 11, 2024 by Classic_Spaceman Quote
Lion King Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 I think plague doctor’s mask can be used as part of Venice Carnival minifigure. I recall seeing some masks with beaks in Venice some times ago when I was in Italy. Quote

Honestly, from what I can remember off the top of my head, the ‘Plague Doctor Mask’ we think of from modern interpretations actually looks far more like those beaked Venetian masks than historically accurate plague doctor outfits. Probably because at some point in history artists fused the two. If you look up real plague doctor masks they actually look very little like birds. They’re more like formless leather sacks that cover the entire head with the only defining features being round eye lenses and a vaguely conical protrusion around the mouth that would have been stuffed with herbs meant to filter the air. They look more like medieval gas masks than anything else. That said, if lego ever tackles a plague doctor I’m sure they’ll use the more recognizable modern interpretation - we’ve got plenty of Viking minifigures running around with horns on their helmets after all. Oh i know what difference et seen plague doctor’s and carnival Venterian’s masks. I am just saing that if Lego won’t produce a plague doctor as COVID still goes on. Instead of plague doctor, Lego could use its mask for a carnival Venetian minifigure. A beaked mask looks pretty cool for festival Quote

It’s iconic, very pretty, and highly unlikely to offend anyone as far as perpetuating harmful stereotypes goes. And Venice is also know for their glass, so there’s some obvious options for new accessories too. (Now that I’m thinking of it, a glassblowing minifig would make a pretty cool cmf character as well) Quote

Variety means pretty much everyone gets something - I often don't bother with some series any more as they don't have anything appealing, whereas previously there was always a few figures. For example, I'd love a modern day Paradisa series but know that this wouldn't be popular with a lot of fans (for example Space or Castle collectors). Quote

Another thing to consider is that a themed series is going to "use up" a lot of ideas for its theme at once, making them less viable for future series. So anyone who is a fan of the theme but misses that series for whatever reason, is likely to have much less to interest them for a long time afterward. Quote
