I actually think the most likely follow up would be a Sesame Street series I'd go so far as to say that the licensed "series 2" shouldn't be a thing... at all. We already have a limited number of CMF slots per year, and licensed ones will turn off people who don't like that licence (maybe you might find one or two interesting figures, for other reasons, but if you don't like the licence you won't be intrigued by the CMFs as a whole). The reaction to the idea of a Formula One series shows this. And while it's easy to stomach the odd series here and there from a licence that you find uninteresting, because it comes with the understanding that another series will be coming along in the future that might be more to your taste, when those slots all start getting taken by rehashes of lines that have already come along, it becomes less fun. It's no longer "I'll skip this series, and the next licensed one will be something new" - it's "I'll skip this series, and possibly every other licensed series because they keep revisiting themes" Especially since they've demonstrated that a CMF series doesn't need to have corresponding regular retail sets available, and there are plenty of licences that would be more popular than going to the B-list of characters for a licence that's already been done. (This actually goes more for the licences that have full themes, as a lot of the most exciting figures are saved for the retail sets and we get boring variants instead; the Harry Potter CMFs were pretty disastrous on the whole because they were full of worse versions of the characters than were freely available on the shelves). I'd personally want licensed CMFs to end in general but if they must do them, at least pick a different licence every time. Quote

F1 on the other hand is just a very specific set of race cars. I mean look at other recent CMFs, they had variety! D&D- a vampire, A witch, a knight in shining armour that is also a dragon, a bird man, an undead necromancer, a Devil spawn and so on Series 27 - Cupid, a long boarder, a wolf taming outlaw, a storybook monster, a pirate, a cat owner, a guy dressed as a hamster and so on. Whereas F1 will be : a race car driver's head on a car, a race car driver's head on a car, a race car driver's head on a car , a race car driver's head on a car, a race car driver's head on a car, a race car driver's head on a car abd so on. Exactly. This doesn’t sound too exciting to me when i heard the rumor. Definitley it’s a waste for CMF slot. Quote

Yes - I haven't seen any positive comments at all from any AFOLS. Perhaps it will appeal to younger fans but I still don't see the appeal when there are sets available of fast cars with full minifigures. As you say, it seems like a waste when regular CMF series provide us with the opportunity to provide missing moulds (e.g. musical instruments, animals, sports equipment, weapons, costumes), whereas this appears to have no variety. At least the actual City sets seem to offer newer moulds these days than they did before. Quote

If it’s not a licensed series: 1.) Mechanic 2.) Tire Wheel Costume Guy 3.) F1 Fan with a new banner or a big #1 finger foam 4.) Race Costume Guy ((recolored car costume from Series 18 o a new mold) 5.) Fairy Raer (lol) 6.) Zombie Racer (another lol) 7.) Champion Racer (tribute to Lego video game - Rocket Racer) 8.) Pit Crew Lady 9.) Child Fan with a new car toy piece 10.) Pirate Racer (again, lol) 11.) Manager with a ten gallon hat 12.) Shark Racer (final lol) i like mix of minifiures rather than City minifigures. Therefore, I added fairy, zombie, pirate and shark racers haha. But now you mention musical instrument, i would be happy to throw trumpet or drum into my ideal series! Quote

Why not a whole Teen Titans based series? Or a Lanterns one? Quote
DarrellBricker Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 I agree with a DC Series 2 - they are some terrible gaps in the DC roster of minifigures. Zatanna, Dr. Fate, a comic accurate Vixen, Aqualad/Tempest for the Teen Titans fans, Saturn Girl to complete the Legion of Super Heroes original three members ... the list literally could go on and on. And unfortunately, with Lego criminally ignoring their DC license to focus almost exclusively on Batman and everything Gotham, a DC Series 2 seems like it would be our only hope to get some variety. Lion King Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 I do agree with someone that there should be Greco-Roman mythological themed CMF series. Of course there is Percy Jackson tv show out in the wild since December 2023. Licensed or not, we still need more mythological characters. Quote

Remember that these have to appeal to the general public too, not just fans of the franchise, to sell in high numbers. I had heard of about a dozen of the original DC series. And I bought a few of them like the throwback Batman and Wonder Woman, and Bat-Mite but only for his comic. For a second series, I doubt I would have heard of many of them if your list is anything to go by. Quote

Characters like Zatanna, Doctor Fate, Aqualad, & Lanterns could easily have lots of casual appeal to non-geeks, then fill a few slots with hardcore nerd-roster figures, and we should assume that variants of some of the big characters like Batman, Superman & Wonderwoman would also make the cut. Rollerblading Lynda Carter Wonderwoman, anyone? Quote
Breakspear Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Regarding the rumoured use of disembodied minifigure heads and racing helmets in the F1 CMF series: while I’m not a fan of the idea as a whole, I do think the it could be partially redeemed if LEGO included some sort of body piece(s) in the box as an extra. The cheapest option would be to include an unprinted Dreamlings body piece (element 1994). While still not a proper CMF, that would at least allow kids to assemble some sort of driver figure to play with. The Dreamlings piece is roughly to scale with the mini build F1 cars, and does look a bit jumpsuit-like. It could have a certain cartoonish/cute appeal, much like the recent baby spaceman figures. Just a random thought. 😊 Quote
jonwil Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Looking at Looney Tunes specifically, the problem with that is that (in the form most people would want them in) a number of the "missing" characters are no longer considered acceptable (or at least not so much in a kids toy). Pepe Le Pew chases females and tries to make love to them without their permission. Both Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam have guns in their most well known forms (which is no longer OK apparently). And I think there is something controversial about Foghorn Leghorn as well (although I am not sure what) Who else has appeared often enough to make sense to consider for LEGO product? Quote

LOL I get your point, but just to point out, Lego managed to make a minifig of a sex slave. They just gave her a skirt instead of letting her out with her usual bikini. They also somewhat redacted the name to just Princess Leia (vs. Slave Leia used in the past version). This is despite the fact that figures like Oola may never be made again. 3 hours ago, FinlayTheFaithful said: Don't we have a ton of other gunfighters as minifigures?
