I've heard Marvel from others as well, but nothing solid enough to make a graphic about. Grain of salt for now, Palnet is very reliable though. I am good with either of these - Marvel has (and will have, by 2HY) new characters and notable gaps in previous CMF lineups (Mobius, Falcon (red/white), Strange Supreme, Ms. Marvel, Daredevil (red/yellow), etc!), and Fortnite is an absolute goldmine of Minifig content! Though I doubt it's gonna sell too well. I know kids like race cars but we have city and speed champions for that. Kids also like minifigs which it sounds like this series won't really be, I suppose it is good for TLG to experiment and try new things but ehhh not sounding too great is it. It's funny though that I'm yet to see a single person (here, elsewhere online or IRL) express any interest or excitement for this series. Every other series I've seen at least a tiny bit of interest but this one? So far nada. Edited November 6, 2024Nov 6 by Agent Kallus

But in the end hard to judge before we even see some pictures.

Even if it does appeal to kids more than adults - adults are the ones who (for the most part) are getting complete sets, if not entire cases, of the minifigs. Kids getting two or three randomly with their allowance with an occasional super fan getting a full set is probably a much smaller audience than an adult's purchasing power.

Some F1 fans might buy them for some parts if there are printed pieces. That aside, I said when the first rumours showed up I am not interested in the series and I don´t think it will sell that well.

You're way off track with that, I think. For every one adult who invests in a complete set of minifigures, there are probably dozens of kids buying minifigures a couple at a time. Adults make up more of the Lego buying audience than they once did, but the majority of Lego purchases still go to kids—ESPECIALLY when it comes to cheap "pocket money" sets like CMFs.
November 6, 2024Nov 6 I'm mildly surprised that Horizon doesn't seem to have been floated as a possible CMF. IMO it's one of the most reasonable 'new' CMF licenses: Lego already hold the license but have done very little with it, especially in terms of bricks There are plenty of characters who have zero chance of ever appearing in sets, even if Lego make a physical follow-up to the Tallneck A lot of the figs would have parts that would have crossover appeal with sci-fi/fantasy fans Especially since Aloy has multiple costumes so you can easily stick a new variant of her in, and there are plenty of other major characters. Personally I'd rather see more focus on original CMFs and keep the licenses to full sets - but as licenses go, Horizon would be a strong one imo

I mean, if we are being honest, people wanted to get Aloy and they were happy to get it. But ever when someone wants more Horizon Sets it is always mentioned they want a Thundejaw or something like that - I can´t remember anyone asking for any other character really. Of course you are still right about the minifigures having overall use for people outside the theme still, but I don´t think it has good chances to ever get a CMF.

Following that line, though, how much demand was there for buildable F1 cars? Unikitty figures? The German national football team? Lego have made plenty of minifigure series for bizarre properties, and they clearly think there's some demand for Horizon on the market else we wouldn't be getting the videogame. Plus, I feel like a lot of people would at the very least want Sylens. Has Lance Reddick ever had a minifigure done before?

Well noone is saying they never did a bad series but a whole series for a a Video game still sounds unlikely to me. If they would expand the franchise further with a movie for instance, there might be a better chance however. And well, an other single minifig can just get added to another set. A lot of people have stopped watching NASCAR here. Racing in general isn't as popular as it once was in the US. The peak was 70's-80's-90's and early 2000's and has really fallen off the last 5 years or so. Also kids do know the difference because F1 and Indy cars look totally different than most racing cars.

Lego has done Racing cars in different sizes and styles for a long time some have been F1 style, some looked more like normal cars, and some just had very basic design. In the end I don´t think Kids will care much about the license, but they will be able to have fun playing with them. In the end they will be small cheap sets that dont really need any occasion to gift them. But as I said, there were so many rumours about them out there we still have to see how they will really turn out in the end.

Unikitty didn't take a usual CMF slot - it was supplemental, like the Mario ones - and the German soccer team (and GB Olympics) were regional exclusives. I think if the F1 series were like either of those, then there wouldn't be too much fuss about it - it's the issue of taking a standard CMF slot (and they're not minifigs), especially when the iron seems hot for other licenses. Broadly speaking, I think that most licensed series tend to skew more towards adults/those who want a complete series than kids. "Normal" CMFs are usually split pretty evenly. I think the only series that really went towards kids more than adults would be specific licenses like Unikitty, though I could see arguments for The Lego Movie/2/Ninjago also going that way (though those still have more adult ones like The Wizard of Oz).

Yeah but most parents nowadays are getting away from things like lego for their kids. Alot of stuff is more catered to phone, Ipads, tablets etc. I would loved to see this stuff as a kid. I just don't think this is going to sell as well as they think especially with kids these day.
