Triborough Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 But with a little twist. For people that already have all series, the same fig wouldn't do much good. For example: Clown from series 1. Instead of rereleasing the whole figure you could change the uniform to make him an acrobat, but with the same expression. Of course that would make it a different fig, but at least in wouldn't be the exact same. Maybe keeping the figure the same, but with a new accessory or head. Quote
lifeinplastic Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 I am pleased to hear that the collectible minifigures will continue until at least series 8. The thread in the other Eurobricks forum is full of great ideas, of which many I'm sure will come to fruition, seeing as many previous suggestions have already appeared. One of the great thing about the series is the fact that we can obtain accessories and outfits that wouldn't otherwise appear in the main sets. There is also usually something for everyone, whether you like sci-fi, historical sets, sports or fantasy/horror themes. Personally, I'm hoping there will be more musical instruments in future series, and the figures that represent national stereotypes/icons are also great. Quote
LEGO AFOL Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Lego is smart to come up with collectable minifgs. Smart. They know some people like minifigures only so they come up with this. Quote
lifeinplastic Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 The original posts suggests that the Series 6 figures are already finalised. Any idea when these are most likely to be unveiled (or leaked)? Quote
fred67 Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 The original posts suggests that the Series 6 figures are already finalised. Any idea when these are most likely to be unveiled (or leaked)? I have no idea, but I can tell you they must be doing a pretty good job of keeping it quiet, because the interview was from around New Years 2011... meaning they said they were finishing up and it's been five months since that interview. Some people consider it spoilers, but I don't... I suspect we'll be seeing them soon, at least before 5 is officially released. I'm worried that they'll cut back on production, though... TRU still has 4 on the shelves, and my LEGO Store has both 3 and 4 still on the shelves - and not just a handful... looks like at least 150 of each, and that's just on display, I don't know what they've got in the back. I'm fine with that, I went with my son and we found two more elves (although he kept both ... this time). Quote
Legofan4ever88 Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 I don't think that production should be cut back but perhaps the quanity better distributed among businesses. Lego should get the stores that sell said lego minifigures to send them a report on how many boxes they got, number of figures sold, how long it took to see the amount, and maybe even how many of the previous series were left when the new boxes were sent. That way, places w/ lots of left over will get a little less while stores selling out could get more. Not only will lego not have to cut back but it could encourage more sales for lego w/ people not going to ebay looking for any packs. I know people can just order from the lego site, but not everyone is big into credit cards and Check by mail can take a little longer then people want. Quote

The issue with that is that TLG doesn't control how many minifigures each retailer gets. The retailers themselves control this. So unless the stores that are selling out quickly decide to buy more minifigures in the next series, then they'll have more to sell, but if not, then they'll likely sell out just as quickly the next time around. Naturally, it would probably be in these retailers' best interests to buy more if they sold out quickly or buy fewer if they had a lot left over. But things don't always work out so perfectly, and there's really nothing TLG can do about it except in their own LEGO-brand stores. Quote

vexorian Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 I can't picture TLG stopping this thing in the short or medium term. These figs sell like crack. Seriously, series 4 has just arrived on here 1 week ago and they are gone already. Imagine that, third world country going to a huge pricing crisis and there are so few AFOLs I have only known two of them yet. But the CM fly the shelves like crazy. Quote
r1chard Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 not another fishing or skater dude, please why not collectible animals ha lego Quote
SilvaShado Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 My only wish is - a female elf! Give me that and I will be floating on cloud 9 for years to come. Seriously, though, they should do more female versions of things. Why not a female dwarf or a female knight? Quote
Delta 38 Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Well this is great and irritating at the same time, I'm in love with these collectable fig's, but I've already sunk over $500 on these primarily because when I decide to collect something, I go all out. So I guess I need to start finding more money to throw at TLG. All my feelings on this described in the smilies above. I completely agree. Collectible minifigures were good to begin with (though the first two series basically didn't make it here), but they are a rather large drain on money for sets. I'm close to finishing my series three and four collections, but it's a rather expensive obsession. Quote
SilvaShado Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Not unheard of. Exactly, but they need to do a new one. There needs to be more. :-) Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 (edited) Bricktuts Blog has a supposed list of the Series 6 minifigs that was posted May 24th. Has anyone else heard of a list of the Series 6 Characters yet or is Bricktuts just wishful thinking? ~LCM Thank you very much for this information, LegoCityMann! Here is the rumor list on the series 6 minifigures: 1. Security Guard (Male) 2. Snow Shoveler (Male) 3. Pilot (Female) 4. Photographer (Male) 5. Actor (Female) 6. Movie Maker (Male) 7. Builder (Female) 8. Astronaut (Male) 9. Evil Scientist (Male) 10. Veterinarian (Female) 11. Fireman (Male) 12. Evil Space Alien (Unknown) 13. Racer (Female) 14. Horse Racer (Female) 15. Announcers (Male) 16. Swimmer (Female) You can find the list here. I must say that I'm a bit sceptical - not about the list in general (e. g. a movie maker or a security guard (that would be really cool!) sound to me not unsupposably) but about some of the minifigures mentioned there (e. g. we already got a mad scientist in series 4 and I higly doubt a fireman which is included in every Fire set in the City theme). What do you think? Btw: The only bad thing is that series 6 and 7 will for sure be 2,50 Euros per minifig (since already the series 5 minifigs will be each 2,50 Euros) and so I fear that series 8 might even be more again! Almost the entire list is Town/City-centric, and none of the other Series were ever so homogenized in theme. We've always seen some variety, plus every series has had some sort of historical figure. This just seems more like clever speculation, although I certainly could be wrong. Edited June 22, 2011 by Mr. Elijah Timms Quote

Doubt the evil scientist either as we have only just had a mad scientist Quote
vexorian Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Series 1 was more of a sci-fi space man. I guess they could do a realistic astronaut. But that would kind of blow if it is included in the same series as a firefighter. I am skeptic. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Series 1 was more of a sci-fi space man. I guess they could do a realistic astronaut. I doubt they'd do that after just releasing an entire Space wave and rereleasing 10213. Quote
LegoCityMann Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Here's my thoughts after looking over the BrickTuts site. Bricktuts has been around since May. They seem to be focused on LDD and BrickFlics. Why would they have a list of the S6 minifigs before more established sits like Brick Brothers or FBTB? I am going to go ahead and now say I believe this list to be bunk. Are the guys who run BrickTuts on EB? I'd like to know their Rumor Source. ~LCM Quote
Sandy Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Come on now, that list is so obviously fake it isn't even funny. Another evil scientist? A female racer and a female builder? An announcer (of what)? A snow shoveler?! Where's the variety, besides? That's just someone's personal wishlist, that's all. Quote
Gregorovich Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I agree with Sandy and LegoCityMann. I mean, these are meant to be original minifigures you won't get in other themes - most of these figures have already appeared in a different theme, or as Collectable Minifigure themselves. Quote
Aanchir Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I agree with Sandy and LegoCityMann. I mean, these are meant to be original minifigures you won't get in other themes - most of these figures have already appeared in a different theme, or as Collectable Minifigure themselves. That's not necessarily the case. The collectible minifigures are meant to be unique, but having a job or role that also exists in another theme doesn't take away from a fig's uniqueness. The Race Car Driver with his uniform covered in branding was a far cry from most figs from the Racers theme in any year. The Mummy came out the very same year as the mummy-filled Pharaoh's Quest theme, but had a classic horror-movie appearance rather than the detailed, modern look of that theme's mummies. The Space Alien had a unique look, even though we had already gotten two years of space aliens in Space Police III and were about to see another year of them in Alien Conquest. And the Tribal Chief and Tribal Hunter couldn't possibly be confused with the awful, awful Indian figs from the Western theme the previous decade. All in all, whether or not an idea has been used in other themes has nothing to do with whether that could actually appear in a new series of minifigures. There are plenty of good reasons to dismiss this list as a fake without making false assumptions about the nature of the collectible minifigures. Quote
Nikau Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I'd like to see some lego children, do the minifigures reproduce by cellular mitosis or something? You could have a child with a kitten or something along those lines. Quote
