One question I'd like to ask to the CMF designers is if they would consider re-releasing Series 1 and Series 2. The 10th anniversary of the theme is around the corner. And recently they have been using Series 1 minifigures a lot. Like the Caveman who recently appeared twice, in the promo set and then in the City line.

Also the Zombie Skater who is a zombie version of the series 1 Skater.

Also the cheerleaders seem to be very popular in LEGO.

They already have the desings and the molds done, they only need to be produced again. A quick look to Brinklink should be enough to see how popular these would be

They are pretty much doing this with Ninjago.

If they were going to do series 1 and 2 again, why stop there? Why not series 3 and 4 and 5 ... These are all old series now and new collectors would also want those too. I don't mind them redoing characters so long as they do something a little different. So similar prints with new colours or accessories. It gives more variety while keeping the old ones special.

When I look at series 1:

Caveman - already redone with a similar minfiigure.

Cheerleader - already three of them, plus redone in the calendar.

Clown - already a few variants.

Cowboy - redone as sheriff, a child on a horse, plus similar in TLM.

Diver - boring, but also loads in Atlantis, etc.

Demolition dummy - seemed to be panned at the time, but still unique.

Forest Man - still fairly unique, although some overlap with Rogue.

Magician - not liked at the time, probably still the case.

Ninja - not needed, we have Ninjago.

Nurse - plenty of similar figures in City hospitals, but sought after due to rarity.

Robot - similar ones redone a few times.

Skater - redone a few times in different variants, plus exactly in the calendar.

Spaceman - variants redone a few times.

Wrestler - variants redone.

Tribal Hunter - variants redone.

Zombie - variants redone.

So for me, Series 1 has already been redone a number of times (just not exactly) except for Forest Man.

I said Series 1 and 2 because those are rarer than Series 3 - 18. They sell at very high prices, even if the minfigures are outdated for today standards

LEGO could get some of that bricklink money.

If they release updated versions, the old original ones would still be very pricey and LEGO wouldn't get that money

I would love this homage to classic cinema.

Thanks, I did fill out a suggestion form for such an archetype on this topic a little while ago:

Well, the Series 16 Rogue can be sorta thought of as an edgier variant of that archetype.

Though I'm not expecting any Dieselpunk archetypes for The Lego Movie 2 as of yet, to answer this question another way, some Dieselpunk/Decopunk/Raypunk archetypes I'd wish to see for Series 19 and/or other follow-up series would include an Aviatrix, a Rocketeer-like hero, a female counterpart to the Series 17 Retro Spaceman, an Art Deco automobile hood ornament (something inspired after this would be kinda cool), a noir private detective, and perhaps an Art Deco-styled female android inspired after the Maschinenmensch from Friz Lang's Metropolis from 1927. :shrug_oh_well:

Certainly without a doubt, but I was only commenting on how I personally consider the post-apocalyptic genre to be something else entirely compared to Dieselpunk.

We're simpatico on pretty much all of that. On the Aviatrix front, the CMF version of Tina Goldstein is pretty close design-wise to what I have in mind for an Aviatrix CMF.

So you want LEGO to re-release them and put the prices up compared to CMF? Otherwise, LEGO wouldn't get that money, since they would (1) lose buyers that already have them and (2) only get RRP for the S1 and S2 figures, unless they put their prices up. So if S1 and S2 re-releases take the place of other CMF series, they get the same price but sell less than if they did something new.

There are some interesting images for the 40th anniversary on brickset. Especially these for Series 13. It looks like LEGO was originally going to do a boy scout figure but replaced it with the sheriff.

Two other archetypes we could use for either Series 19 and/or beyond are for a Classic Space themed Starship Captain and a Anime/Pacific Rim inspired Mecha Pilot, the former taking inspiration from Star Trek and/or Battlestar Galactica and the latter to pay homage to Lego's Exo-Force. :shrug_oh_well:

Really? In what particular way? :shrug_confused:

Man, this sketch in particular is my favorite (of course)... :grin_wub:

There some interesting stuff there

The S12 Spooky Girl was supposed to be a vampire girl. I'm glad they changed. Spooky Girl was a very original and surprising character. The vampire girl was released a year later as the series 14 Spider Lady.

Boy Scout was in Series 13. I hope we'll get him at some point. But they can't name him Boy Scout I think

The Series 18 Cat Girl was originally a little girl. And there was a recolor of the Lizard Man from series 5. Also it seems there a Pigeon Suit Boy?

I think one of the S12 minifigures was meant to be a Maori Warrior. Also, I can't what it is but the character between the Battle Goddess and the Wizard didnt make it to the final product

Love getting a glimpse of this kind of stuff

These are Series 18 sketches. The Penguin Boy came in Series 16

OK, sorry Sherlock  Could be a pigeon suit, but hard to tell the difference and we have gotten chicken and penguin already, so unless they plan on including a new pigeon animal mould it is not a big loss to me

The "pigeon" looks like the chicken just with short legs. So I wonder if these are Series 18 sketches, or if they predate the original chicken - they may have had the party idea for the 40th anniversary for a few years. Although there is the ballerina skirt which didn't debut until S15. If they are S18, I'm glad they changed the dragon from the original lizard style. Note also the leg print on the horse (way too small). Also the "pigeon" could have been any bird, just by changing the print. Make it brown with a dab of orange on the front, it is a robin.

I said Pigeon because that's the first that came to my mind. But yeah, he could be any kind of bird.

It seems they were going to reuse the Penguin and Lizard masks in series 18 but ended up reusing olny the unicorn one instead.

That cant be the Series 16 Penguin because he has the wings instead of the fin arms

The Lizard seems to have become the Red Dragon suit.  I'm completely OK with that!

Are we sure they just didn’t add sketches of the lizard suit guy and penguin suit guy to the series 17 concept art images?

I suppose that's a possibility, but they look like they fit with the rest of the drawings from that series of sketches.

Hmm, Flitwick's hair in brown is interesting, and I really like the slatted shades head printing. Not enough to drop $75 to get, but I do like them. Hope a similar print shows up in a CMF wave.

There is a new minifigure frame and it comes with a minifigure

Cool! Another nice CMF-quality promotional figure with dual-molded Blue/Yellow legs, exclusive prints, a new hairpiece recolor, and presumably our first ducky swim ring with normal prints!  :smug:

Every single piece is exclusive. The dual molded legs are new in earth blue/yellow.

And yes the ducky swim ring is new with those normal printed eyes.
