Harry Potter & Company may have a lot to offer, but it's nothing compared to the scope of the groundwork laid-out by the Disney CMS subtheme.

Ya know, Ms. Gold may seem like the safest commemorative direction for such, but awhile ago I had been entertaining another possibility: What if Lego decided to give us a Series 20 lineup that was patterned after Series 1, made up of reduxes and gender variations of that Series' archetypes? :shrug_oh_well:

Exactly. :def_shrug:

You know, I thought about a S.1 Redux, and I'm not keen, initially. If they do updated designs and gender-swaps it could be pretty grand, though. Mrs. Gold? What could possibly go wrong?

Speaking of the ladies, there's a Gingerbread Woman and a Gingerbread Man with new printing up on Instagram! Unannounced holiday set, or Chinese "LEGO"?

Though it'd greatly upset completionists, the Ms. Gold approach is best for those hoping for further yet-untouched archetypes. However, I don't think a Series 1 redux would be the end of the world if done right. For instance...

  • Tribal Hunter >>> [Just different type of Indian, more specific to a more particular Native American tribe]
  • Cheerleader >>> [Simple, a Male Cheerleader, much like @Robert8's design]
  • Caveman >>> [How about a "Cave-Kid" similar to The Flintstones' Pebbles & Bam-Bam?]
  • Circus Clown >>> [Hey, how 'bout a gender-swap?]
  • Zombie >>> [Again, just gender-swap this one, much akin to Robert8's take on such]
  • Skater >>> [Make this one a kid this time, perhaps with the newer medium legs]
  • Robot >>> [Hey, if Series 1's take took after Robby the Robot, why not be a little more on-the-nose this time?]
  • Demolition Dummy >>> [Um, maybe make him Flame Yellowish Orange rather than just Bright Yellow? I don't know...]
  • Magician >>> [Either a simple gender-swap, or something more particular within that vein]
  • Super Wrestler >>> [Hey, another gender-swap, why not?]
  • Nurse >>> [Either just a gender-swap, or a different kind of healthcare worker]
  • Ninja >>> [As Series 13's Samurai was to Series 3's Samurai Warrior, so could this CMS be to Series 1's Ninja]
  • Spaceman >>> [Simple, give us a bubble-helmeted spaceman from the '50s!]
  • Forestman >>> [Honestly, I'd just like a richer-colored redux of this exact archetype that isn't Series 16's Rouge]
  • Deep Sea Diver >>> [How 'bout a Snorkeler this time rather than a Scuba Diver?]
  • Cowboy >>> [How 'bout a modern ranch hand this time, perhaps wearing a Duster?]

I wouldn't been surprised if they did:

JAN/FEB - THE LEGO MOVIE 2 SERIES 2

APR/MAY - DISNEY SERIES 3

AUG/SEP - SERIES 20

TLM2 bombed at the box office so I doubt it. Also I think they know by now that releasing 2 series of the same license so close from each other doesnt work. Simpsons S2 and TLBM S2 did terrible. I still see Simpsons S2 bags on stores

I could live with most of this.

Series 20 speculation:
What if LEGO did something to return to the original concept of the CMF, collecting them all? An incentive to get them all could be something included with each figure, so that if you collect all 16 the parts builds something. Each piece would have to have something unique about it, a special print or color that isn't available elsewhere. Maybe the bases have individual prints, or are new molds themselves. There are a number of ways to do this.

Ok. Not sure if this is true or not but apparently one of the 2020 CMF is Disney 3 according to Instagram leakers

Yes I read that too, but that may even be a rumour based on the very fact I just wrote that here.
It depends on so many facts we actually can't take it into account.

We do not even know any of the figs in the next series that should be in shops in a few weeks, so hard to believe that anyone knows we get a new Disney series next year already :sceptic:

I for one do not get disappointed before some more believable rumours turn up
If Lego insist on giving us 2 licensed series every year, I guess WW is most likely next year :shrug_oh_well: For the second spot Disney may be a contender for all I know :hmpf:

As a collector, I think that would be great. Exclusive prints and a small build representing the series. I think it could work well.

I’d hate if we got another Mr Gold I’d prefer something like the police man.

I think we’re all with you there. Although the policeman was not something I particularly liked, just preferred

Either way, the single extra "chase figure" approach would be best for those desiring another non-themed, varied-selection CMS right after Series 19; because honestly, I could care less whether or not Series 20 gave us a Mr. Gold 2.0 as its commemorative gimmick, as I've never counted that figure as a true CMF anyway.

I have... regrettably, considering he’s not at place on a collectors display, ironically. Although as a lover of non-licensed cmfs it wouldn’t be right not to include him, he’s part of the group. Just the part of the collection that is only ever talked about.

I cant deny that he has a recognizable face for people, like in Lego stores above the shelves and other places.

Since we got the fox in series 19 a Lego movie series 2 is less likely at least

I think I'm the only one that *wants* a Series of of TLM2.

I'd much rather that than Harry Potter or Disney.

I've always found Mr. Gold to be a contrived CMF, a pointless non-archetype if you will. Still, I'd welcome a redux of that whole gimmick for Series 20 just for the sake of that figure carrying the entire weight of the commemorative occasion, thereby not affecting the rest of an otherwise typical CMS. It's just too soon after Series 18 to return to a themed Series, even if I can think of a few palatable approaches to such for the occasion.

I think you've got it nailed, though I would love two regular releases.

What do you think the schedule will be next year?

January - Licensed?

May - Regular?

September - Licensed?

I’m hoping for two regulars!

At this point with future cmfs I’d rather be pessimistic and pleasantly surprised than just disappointed over again.

I’m still not happy it’s this way at all...

What are we getting for Aug/Sept of this year? Anything?

Series 19 comes out in September. The character sheet has leaked on Instagram already.

Since series 19 comes with a rather big bike, i do not think a centaur is out of the question for next WW CMF

Also 2 animals with one fig for the first time, so hopefully we will see more of that in the future! There is a lot of good combos;

  1. Sheep and sheepdog
  2. White sheep and black sheep
  3. Dog and cat
  4. Cat and mouse
  5. Hen and rooster
  6. Otter and fish
  7. Fox and hare
  8. Hare and turtle
  9. Parrot and monkey

etc etc :sweet:
