My guesses for the forthcoming year.

Oh god no

What are the chances we get one licensed, one regular, and one themed series like 18/14?

Although the designers never said it was definite they did say they have explored ideas for a series themed around castle or SCI-FI.

I would welcome a castle series or a space series with open arms, as long they have the minfigure aesthetic. And it would make so many people happy too.

Where can I find these designers’ quotes?

It was an interview from 2018 Lego fan media days I think. Last weekend in May is the fan media days and I seem to remember seeing that interview article from 2018.

I remember an interview like that a while back, but I couldn’t seem to find it. The idea of the designers thinking about a castle of space series intrigues me.

(even if I still prefer regular series, the monsters and costumes still had the same charm, just less variety)

Since series 19 comes with a rather big bike, i do not think a centaur is out of the question for next WW CMF

I've been saying as much since they included the pig.

I used to prefer yellow minifigures, but now I build more with flesh tones.  As such, I find that the Harry Potter theme has a lot to offer.  It has great minifigures for a variety of themes, from Castle to City to Superheroes.  It's also great for Harry Potter fans and collectors, of course.  I couldn't tell you which variations of which characters I'd like to see, but I'm sure that every HP CMF series will have at least a few that I will want to get in multiples.

I would love to see another Harry Potter series, but I could understand them waiting a bit.  They've gotta make this Harry Potter theme last.  I don't see it earlier than fall of next year.

Outside of that, I can imagine Disney series 3 would be a successful one.

Of course series 20 should show up next year.

Another themed series could be nice.  Depends on the theme.  I would personally like a well done fantasy or science fiction theme.  Other themes could bleed into my interests a bit, too.  I'm generally optimistic.

What do you think the schedule will be next year?

For me, I'm certain that Series 20 will end-up being released in either April or May next year, much like Series 10 and 18 had been; whereas for the January/February and August/September release slots, they're more likely than not to be licensed in some form, perhaps with the January/February slot lent towards a newcomer IP to the Collectable Minifigures theme, while the August/September slot will be hopefully reserved for Disney Series 3.

At this point with future cmfs I’d rather be pessimistic and pleasantly surprised than just disappointed over again.

Yeah, that's how I approach much nowadays myself. :sceptic:

New Elementary - LEGO® MINIFIGURES: TARA WIKE & AUSTIN CARLSON INTERVIEW

Quote

Now you have a costume series, and you have had a monster series. Apart from that, have you considered other genre themed series?

Tara Wike: We kick it around all the time, and I think it’s fun to mix between the two, the mix-and-match classic and a more themed thing. This one was… we really wanted to celebrate the anniversary of the minifigure, so that was the best way we could think of doing it, that was a natural fit. And with the monsters, I think it was falling close to Halloween and that’s always been an inspiration for us, too. So that one was also natural. I don’t want to say any of the other ones we’ve considered, in case we do them in the future!

Probably something like sci-fi or fantasy or a historical theme is something you would consider then?

Tara Wike: Absolutely.

I'd dream of an ADVENTURERS-themed Series myself... :purrr:

A series dedicated to traditional LEGO themes (that are now sidelined by licensed equivalents) could be very nice. 16 or 20 figures, divided among four or five themes could make for a great series.

A pipe dream, probably, but it is nice to imagine.

Well, that's technically what the unthemed, non-licensed Series already are, except that they have to share space alongside City-themed and costumed archetypes. But sure, just one otherwise "normal" Series uninhibited by CMFs that complement currently-existing playthemes would be undoubtedly appreciated. :classic:

For the sake of argument, I proffer that this hypothetical series would be unfettered by City or mascot figures. I will also proffer that one of the fantasy figures would be a plant monster* utilizing the stump disguise from the mountain police sets. They slap a couple of out-there city-themed and mascot figures in whatever Fun-in/at-the Place they had planned for the year.

* it could actually be a goblin/gnoll/kobold/insert a "fantasy monster to hide in a stump" here.

According to a story from Mini_legogo on Instagram, 71026 CMF is going to be released in January 2020!

What will this series be? I’m hoping it’ll be licensed. I love licensed Minifigure Series!

Clarification for release date.

Yes. 71026, 71027 and 71028 will be released next year. We've been speculating what they could be

It's gonna be a DC Universe collectible Minifigure Series! Which characters are you guys wishing to be included? I'm hoping for characters from the Teen Titans 2003 cartoon.

@Itaria No Shintaku is this true?

Because who would have thought we would get another DC series after Batman 2 crashed and burned so spectacularly

I don't know but it would be a completely bad idea.
The Batman Movie Series 2 was a DC collectible series and was probably one of the worst ever.

Do Lego have the license to do that anyway?! :sceptic:
Yes I know they have made 2 batman series, but that was from a Lego movie not a "normal" DC film!
I thought the hole point with making small battle pack within themes like SW, DC and Marvel is that Lego do not have the license to make single fig collectibles from those themes *huh*

It is hot now so I think I need a spoonful of salt to swallow this rumour along with Disney 3 and every other 2020 CMF rumour turning up these days

The only way I can think of to circumvent the license obstacle is releasing a series based on a LEGO product DC-related, just like Batman Movie

If so, then it has to be the DC Supervillains videogame

The game had a lot of characters that were not released in physical form.

So, I think a DC-Supervillains series might happen

If said series included some of the Young Justice characters that were just introduced in the game I can’t say I’d be completely opposed.
