I saw a picture elsewhere with some Harry Potter future releases coming this year, and one was a second CMF series. It has already been an expensive LEGO year for me, so I don’t mind having a wave of CMF to skip again.

The Brick Fan also reported HP series 2 release this coming summer as a rumour.

So, I know we've just had our first look at Series 20, but does anyone here want to take a gander at what point next year Series 21 might released? Personally, I'm feeling we might end-up waiting for as long as we did between the releases of Series 18 and Series 19, with a release perhaps around August/September 2021? :def_shrug:

I'm guessing January 2021. It's been a while since we got a regular series on January. Last one was Series 15

January 2021 would be unlikely for DC Series 2, since it would be too soon after the first. Can't be Harry Potter for the same reason. And Disney 3 would likely have a May release like S1 and S2. Unless there is a new IP getting a series, I'd say Series 21 is more likely

To do that we should consider what other LEGO properties might get a CMF series next year. The Billion Brick Race was something people considered might get a CMF series, but it seems to still be in development with not even a projected release year. The Harry Potter license is most probable given the third Fantastic Beasts movie is projected to be put sometime next year.

I forget that the third Fantastic Beasts movie is slated for Fall next year as @gedren_y just mentioned, so perhaps a third Wizarding World CMS will instead be allotted for then as a tie-in.

Hmmm, the Billion Brick Race was unfortunately shelved due to TLG and WB breaking their cinematic partnership ties as so to move-on over to Universal Pictures, presumably to start up another cinematic universe.

Doesn’t even have a director.

I wonder if there are any ‘wild card’ possible one off series - one I was thinking about recently was a CMF tie in to the new Bill & Ted movie ... which could be a great way of getting historical figures, and a grim reaper, with a licensed excuse

Billion Brick Race is not a thing anymore

IMO the lineup might as follows

Sep 2020 Harry Potter 2

Jan 2021 CMF S21

May 2021 Disney 3

Sep 2021 Wild Card.. I doubt  they will release a third HP so close after the second one. After Batman S2 and Simpsons S2, you think they would know better at this point

Also, they've said they make these a year on advance. If they want HP S3 for fall 2021, they should start working on it around fall 2020. At that point they wouldnt know about how HPS2 performed

Nice. That’s a pretty solid prediction. Let’s hope it swings that way (also no HP S3 I hope).

For those of you who aren't following Series 20's main discussion topic, @Itaria No Shintaku just had this to share...

Let me add one small thought here.
You are concerned by the fact that this series may be launched in April.
I will tell you that the third one may be launched even in October.
You know that it will be licensed, but maybe that won't be Harry Potter again.

If what I heard is correct, Harry Potter may be delayed to 2021.

EDIT
I wrote JAN but I meant SEP. That is because the next FB movie is due in late 2021.

With this news, another guessing game beggins... what will be the Sep2020 series be?

I would hope for S21 of course. Since the HP S3 was delayed, only a regular series could be produced fast enough to work as a replacement.

Disney Series 3 is probably already in the works for next year but I could see LEGO releasing it this year. I’m only saying this cause Itaria did mention that it was a licensed series but not HP.

Well, I'd imagine whatever Series planned for release in January 2021 would have its development fast-tracked as so to move it up to Aug/Sept 2020.

Maybe they'll rush out a proper celebration of the Lego Minifigure, with modern takes on classic minifigures like Redbeard and the Classic Spaceman, and then they can go: "See, we had a celebration series planned all along".

I can dream.

With Disney Series 2 still warming pegs all over the place (at least where I live), is it a given that it will get a Series 3? There is still a litany of characters I'd like to see them do, of course, but I don't know if sales figures would support a third installment? I would be all in for another DC series 2, personally.  I know it's not a popular  series with a lot of you here but I'm a big DC fan and I could fill at least three more series with characters I'd love to see in minifigure form. However, again, not sure if the sales figures of Series 1 would support a second series...

Really what I would love to see is two "regular" CMF series a year and only one licensed series but I think that ship has sailed.

I was thinking this too. Keep in mind this decision could have been made ages ago and has only came as revelation now.

Perhaps a series based on the LEGO  Heroes Legacy game that is officially launching this Thursday, 27 February with lots of Classics. Pure speculation on my part though; I have no reason to think it might be true.

I can dream (ICD).

To me there is one very likely candidate for next CMF now:

Not too sure about that... The replacement series has to be something they had planned anyway, and I’m certain a Minion CMF series would have been intended to be released this year from the get-go, not just as back-up plan

Overall, the options are somewhat limited. I don’t see them launching an entirely new theme with it à la Simpsons, so it has to be either an existing theme that already had CMF series (Disney) or one that gets its first (à la DC). Minions could be one of the frontrunners in the latter category, but it faces the additional problem that they’re not really minifigs, so it’d be more along the lines of the Unikitty series :shrug_oh_well:

My money’s on Disney S3 :purrr:
