Darth_Ewok Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 I am a huge stargate fan and I can't wait for the 14th! *sweet* Who else is excited? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 12, 2006 Governor Posted July 12, 2006 I'm not. Season 9 has just begun here and Avalon Part 2 was the most recent episode which aired last Thursday... Quote
Vader Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Im looking forward to it as long as its not as slow as season 9 was...well at least the start of season 9. Quote
ghoulrealm Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Stargate is the next best series to StarTrek, and since Enterprise was cancled, SG1 and Stargate Atlantis are the only reason to watch broadcast televsion anymore. I'm just glad that this franchise is popular enough to have lasted so long. Quote
UltraPrime Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Looking forward to it. Took a while to get used to changes in S9, but it did pick up. I've quite got into Atlantis too Quote
Darth_Ewok Posted July 14, 2006 Author Posted July 14, 2006 yeah, I'm FINALLY used to the characters in atlantis and I hope they make things more complex now. Stargate season 9 was great and I can't wait to see the new episodes! Only 12 hours and 37 minutes left! Quote
Vader Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 So its been a few weeks and 3 eps of both shows have now been seen (stateside that is) and i wondered what evryone thought so far? Myself i enjoyed sg1's first few eps but i actually preferred the atlantis eps more. Quote
snefroe Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 just watched the first four episodes of season 1... not bad... Quote
UltraPrime Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Enjoying them sofar. Atlantis does seem the superior series sofar. SG1's 200th ep is coming soon, with the return of O'Neill, so looking forward to that. Quote
Darth_Ewok Posted August 14, 2006 Author Posted August 14, 2006 Yeah, the 200th is on my friend's (little green man, he used to post here) b-day. It looks like a funny episode "Warp speed!" :-P Quote
MattZitron Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Atlantis has been firing on all guns this series. I think SG-1's suffered from a couple of things. Mainly that Michael Shanks has had time off to do Daddy stuff. And also I think the Ori are too powerful an enemy at the moment. But we'll see the 200th Episode could be a hoot. I really liked that alternate reality episode last season. Quote
Vader Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Well this isnt what i wanted to read tonight but alas it seems that the end is near :'-( Source: SciFiWire SCI FI Channel confirmed that it will not renew its record-breaking original series Stargate SG-1 for another season, but will pick up its spinoff series Stargate Atlantis for a fourth year. SG-1 aired its 200th episode on Aug. 18, and the SF series is the longest-running SF show on American television. SCI FI issued the following statement on Aug. 21: "SCI FI Channel is proud to be the network that brought Stargate SG-1 to its record-breaking 10th season. Ten seasons and 215 episodes is an astounding, Guinness World Record-setting accomplishment. Stargate is a worldwide phenomenon. Having achieved so much over the course of the past 10 years, SCI FI believes that the time is right to make this season their last on the channel. SCI FI is honored to have been part of the Stargate legacy for five years, and we look forward to continuing to explore the Stargate universe with our partners at MGM through a new season of Stargate Atlantis." Stargate SG-1, developed for television by executive producers Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner, is based on the 1994 feature film Stargate. SG-1, which originally starred Richard Dean Anderson, Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping and Christopher Judge, began on Showtime, then moved to SCI FI after five seasons. The current cast includes Tapping, Shanks and Judge and newcomers Ben Browder, Claudia Black and Beau Bridges. It airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Quote
MattZitron Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 That's so sad. I hope it isn't true. The 200th Episode was fantastic! Quote
MattZitron Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 http://www.gateworld.net/news/2006/08/coop...ill_go_on.shtml Possible positive news! I only started watching again at the end of series 8. SG-1 is patchy at best. Atlantis has been good the last 2 seasons though. Quote
Vader Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Well thats something i guess, i hope it does continue even though im not to keen on all the Uri storys at the moment. Quote
MattZitron Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 I'm not liking the Ori much either. The episodes with Baal are always much better. I'm guessing we'll get Stargate TV movies. Because the Movie Movies are going to be seperate: http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=24247 Quote
Jipay Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Well I just finished season 9 yesterday, the last episode being one of the worst I have seen in a while. only one thing saved the day, the guys working on the atlantis show were kind enough to give the 3d deadless model. I think the Ori are way too powerfull. I am pretty sure they'll find a dumb trick to save the day on the first episode of season 10 (we won't have it here before months), and that's what annoying me : - Every end of season, we get a massive spacebattle that can't be win. - Every begining of a new season, some sort of miracle happens + bravery - insert an american flag floating in the back - and the day is saved. I liked it a lot when it happened at the end of the season 1 of atlantis, but again and again, well... not just the same feeling. There is also the fact that they've almost explored all possible things when it comes to mythology. Maybe the Greek/Roman gods are still missing, but that's about it. I wouldn't be sad to see the show stopped. It could be great. People could concentrate on atlantis. SG1 has been the best TV serie I ever watched, but I think it's time they retire. And I do hope that the last season will be the best ever. Quote
Hobbes Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 - Every begining of a new season, some sort of miracle happens + bravery - insert an american flag floating in the back - and the day is saved. ROFL I don't watch the show but it isn't the only show where they do this... Quote
Jipay Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I know lol, but in this show, the political aspect is taking more and more space. For instance, in the earliest Episodes, you would have USA france Uk and germany together around a table. During the little Irak war incident, you found no mention of France or any Other European country. They just relaunched the old Russian/communists clich Quote
Darth_Ewok Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 Yeah, I don't like the Ori as much as the Goa' uld either (they're unkillable! :-( ) and they don't seem to be going anywhere with the story. Quote
snefroe Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 we have one of the last seasons running here (think it's season 9), and i'd have to say, without the originel cast or at least o'neill , the show has lost quite a lot of its charm. 'atlantis' is completely lost on me... i bought season 3 last week, that seems pretty good; on average, a lot better than all star trek seasons anyway, except perhaps for the last few Star trek Voyager seasons... Quote
UltraPrime Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 No more new eps until next march! And both ended on cliffhangers! Quote
Jipay Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 And both ended on cliffhangers! No way ? How is that possible ? :-D That's what is sad, you can predict that every end of season or mid season will end up like that Quote
