Captain Green Hair Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Today at work I got a little gift that looks like this: Yes, it is a Jack Sparrow promotional figure! Should I leave it closed? Nah, rip it! Interesting, 4 parts come out and it is not cheap Chinese plastic! After a bit of puzzling I put them together and got this: It appears Jack has turned into wood... I haven't seen the new movie yet, so I can't really tell what he did this time. Looking at the face, I see a possible use for a figurehead. The hairpiece printing has been done very nice, that is what the rear looks like. There is back printing on the torso, not on the legs. Well this was my first review, though it is small, I hope you like it! Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Nice review. I put it in the index. It's a nice fig and I wonder in what kind of trouble Jack will get himself this time The figurehead idea is great as well. [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp] Quote
Zeya Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 I thought this polybag was only available through video game preorders. And the game hasn't been released yet. I just looked it up and the EU release date is the 13th. How did you obtain this? Quote
Horry Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Oh yes, figurhead! But now we need a wooden torso! Thanks for the review Quote
Peanuts Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Good review of this promotional fig, nice to see some detailed pics of it. But I've still got a question, what color is the head? It doesn't look like flesh or any other color I'm familiar with, but I am not quite an expert with those. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 3, 2011 Governor Posted May 3, 2011 Nice review captain! Interesting, 4 parts come out and it is not cheap Chinese plastic! Only 4 parts? No weapons or any accessories? Quote
Burgon Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Looks like a voodoo doll to me! So how'd you manage to nab one of these so soon? Quote
Aanchir Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 It's definitely a voodoo doll. LEGO Customer Service lists the set's name as "Voodoo Jack". A much smaller minifig-scale version (a printed version of the trophy from the collectible minifigures) is in the set Queen Anne's Revenge. Quote
WhiteFang Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Thank you for sharing with us! It's a sweet promo that will ultimately adds to your Jack Sparrow collection. I am surprised to see that there is no minifigures accessories in there though. Quote
Big Cam Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Jealous!!!!! Thanks for the review, I must have one! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Quite a nice promotional fig, not really needed but makes up for a good addition to any Jack Sparrow collection. Thanks for sharing his CGH! Quote
Baylego Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Wow, very cool! I am getting this free with the video game, I am excited for it. Quote
Delta 38 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Yet another promotion I'm going to miss out on, but nice all the same... I also just noticed the absence of pupils (the white parts, that is), but that's easily explainable. It makes the figure look more inanimate, too. Quote
narbilu Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Yesterday I got my PotC sets and this one was the first to be opened... I love Jack Sparrow... in every box I open Quote
Corioso Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Great review! But, why Jack is wooden, we will know only after the premiere... Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 Thanks guys, I'm glad you like my little review! I thought this polybag was only available through video game preorders. And the game hasn't been released yet. I just looked it up and the EU release date is the 13th. How did you obtain this? Like I said, I got one at work. Working for one of the largest cable companies in the world has it's advantages I suppose. Nice review captain! Only 4 parts? No weapons or any accessories? Unfortunately not, luckily I have a whole shoe box of weapons, he doesn't have to be defenceless. Quote
Solscud007 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Im confused. How did you get this? I thought it was only given away with the sale of the POTC video game? Is there another promotions Im not aware of? Very cool review. Makes me Anxious for mine. Is it me, or is the Torso and legs unique for this figure? I only have the two cheapest POTC sets so I dont know all the variants of Jack. I know he has a few different faces. Quote
Big Cam Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Wow, cheapest on bricklink is $22, I hope this comes down in price. Quote
Lego lover Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Yesterday I preordered the game, I paid 5 euros and got the figure. I love it... Quote
Blackknight112 Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Thanks for this small review, I think I'll bricklink this, its a great looking figure. Quote
Roodaksta Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Very nice minifigure. More detail than average minifigures. And a great review of it too. Makes me want to pre-order the game for such a fantastic detailed minifigure. Quote
The Flying Dutchman Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Very neat minifig. Perhaps I'll buy the game seeing how high prizes are going. Isn't there a saying in English 'to get a wooden head'? In Dutch it's an expression saying you have had too many drinks... Quote
Alldarker Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I bit the bullet today, so to speak, and bought the DS PotC game on HMV.co.uk, mostly due to the bonus Voodoo Jack figure being the most accessible to Dutch buyers from HMV. I have a rarely used DS and an often used PS3, but this isn't a game I was actually planning on getting anyhow, so I had to go with the cheapest option. Lego Star Wars (for PS2) was a lot of fun though, so I'm hoping this too will be. Quote
