GRogall Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 (edited) Here are the links to the instructions! Book 1 Book 2 They are now up! enjoy! :classic: Hi Grogall, Instructions still not uploaded. Do you have any idea how long in normaly takes after release before Lego releases them online? Henri Try again! Edited June 1, 2011 by grogall Quote
arnoldtblumberg Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 (edited) Nearly done, even though I've tried to drag it out a bit by not building all at once. I think the PETS sign technique is very cool, and while it may not be as spectacular as past modulars in terms of innovation, there are plenty of nice little discoveries throughout the build and the results are very attractive. It would be nice in the future if they would start to offer more sets with a smaller price point. Perhaps a single building like one half of this set, closer to Market Street than Pet Shop in price, and with more flexibility to build an ongoing modular street. prateek Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Here It Is I Reversed it also I think it would look better if the doors were right beside each other. Quote
gotoAndLego Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Here It Is I Reversed it also I think you should have built a single large pet store as opposed to putting two next to each other. Quote
Lobo723 Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 I think it would look better if the doors were right beside each other. ill take another pic when i get home and post it to see how it looks Quote
IAmWillGibson Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 I sorta want just the townhouse half... Anyone wanna go splitsies with me? Quote
AFOLEGODT Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Hi, could you explain what made you buy two of them? I was actually hesitating to buy even one. What makes it so valuable for you? I personally think it did not come up to initial expectations and the main selling point, namely the high number of different animals (or even the same races in different colors) and their utensils is just missing. And the buildings are rather boring compared to any of the previous modular buildings, except for the only great detail, the outer sloped cellar door. For the $150 US range they should try to keep them as more spectacular buildings... Quote
AndyC Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Which one looks better? Definitely with the doors next to each other, I think that's a more traditional layout. Quote
Dazmundo Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Definitely with the doors next to each other, I think that's a more traditional layout. Yeah really like it with the doors together. On your pohs tep (pet shop reversed) is there any reason the LEGO sign starts right on the left with no white border? D Quote

D was in a rush to complete it and i got frustated to make it work to start with a white plate but im thinking of redoing it hopefully with some more time ill post pics when its fixed Quote
PecataD Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 The Pet Shop is very nice and detailed, I hope there are such wonderful reviews and beautiful buildings! Quote
Andy D Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 (edited) Which one looks better? This is just great! I've not even built mine yet (still sitting in the box, just no time yet). I'm tempted to buy another based on these photos. I really like the double town home. Great work! Andy D Edited June 3, 2011 by Andy D Quote
sharky Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 My daughter has the Creator Beach House and Apple Tree House. She really likes them and has asked if she could get a Lego "mansion" for Christmas. I was thinking of getting her this set and saying here's your "mansion" since compared with the houses she has this will seem huge like a mansion. I would consider this set above the Hillside House, for example, which certainly is not a "mansion" by any stretch of the imagination. I could simply ask her what she thinks, but I'm the type that likes to give big surprises. Either way I'm sure she will like the set regardless. She's 8 years old. Any thoughts? Quote
Freddie Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 The build itself will be a test of patience for her, but once it's finished I think she'll enjoy it. These buildings are essentially doll houses, afterall - I'd go with your suggestion, and ask what she thinks of it. But, are you sure you're not buying those sets for yourself? Quote
smith_sam88 Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 (edited) Here It Is I Reversed it also Wow, the two townhouses look absolutely spectacular together! If the pet shop and townhouse were released as 2 separate sets costing £60-70 each I would definitely consider buying 4 or 5 townhouses and having a whole terrace, I think that would look brilliant. My 8yo son is very excited over the Pet Shop. We are building all of the modulars together (started with Cafe Corner a few weeks ago). I am sure he could do it all by himself in small chunks but is is much more fun to build it together. I would definitely recommend this set for your daughter if you are willing to help out from time to time. One other idea may be set 4954 but it is out of production and would likely cost more than the Pet Shop. There is a great review of it here on eurobricks: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=28360 Quote
Ogre Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 I think it would look better if the doors were right beside each other. Agreed. Looks a tad 'off balance' the way it is currently shown. Quote

Actually, I am planning to take her to the Lego store for the monthly build event, so I suppse it would be a good opportunity to browse around and ask her what she thinks about it without giving away that it would be her Christmas gift. Sure, I think it's a nice set myself . What kind of father would I be if I didn't guide her toward the best sets. Actually, it wouldn't be my first choice for a set at that price point. I'm more into the licensed sets like Star Wars. But, I know she likes the Lego houses and City theme best. My 8yo son is very excited over the Pet Shop. There is a great review of it here on eurobricks: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=28360 I also like to get her sets that are a bit more challenging for her age for a few reasons, but I also consider play value when the build is complete. I think challenging her with harder sets is good to stimulate her brain and get her thinking in new directions for building compared to sets that would be easy for her. I also think she will not get tired of it so easily and appreciate the set perhaps into adulthood. It's also a good way for me to get involved in the build when she needs some help and make it a family bonding thing. Lego is truly the perfect toy for the whole family. As a toy collector I've moved away from action figures and have been focusing on Lego more and more as my daughter gets older. It's something we can truly share a love for, and that's not an easy thing to find. I'll definitely check out set 4954. Maybe it will be good to get that one sooner and the Pet Shop for her birthday if she wants. Quote
