Posted July 14, 200618 yr This is my third vig, but the first good enough to have its picture taken. I thought a section of an elegant pub would be a cool idea so I made this bar that turned into a medieval themed bar. Another view It's a cute little thing to display. Feedback is welcome ;-)
July 14, 200618 yr I like the swords up top. I'm not a fan of the upside-down work with the hanging glasses though. I would've come up with something else for that. I also like the bar for the customer's feet (I'm sure there's a better english word for it :-P).
July 14, 200618 yr Really nice vig there oo7 ;-) I do agree with Kiku regarding the upside-down work but apart from that I really like the details of your vig !! Going through the bar stools, the feet bar to the numerous bottles of colourfull liquors :-P *yoda*
July 14, 200618 yr Am I the only who thinks this MOC fits better with Pirates than castle? The bartender looks rather 'modern' and the beertaps are on the 'counter' (for a lack of better words), which would mean that there should be pressure on the beerkegs in order to be able to use your taps. That kind of stuff didn't really exist in the Middle-ages, I guess. But if you place this MOC in a later historical era, this is a mighty fine MOC indeed!!! *y* . I really like the upside-down glasses, the stools and footbar. Great job!!!
July 14, 200618 yr Author Kiku and Yoda, how would you suggest I modify the upside-down canopy? Mr. KhoRne, This is a medieval themed bar, it exists in the present but has decorations from the Middle Ages (or at least they're decorations that look like they're from the middle ages). Thanks for the input everyone, I appreciate it. Oh, and BTW, I think technically, this is not a vignette because the back wall extends one stud back two studs up from the floor.
July 15, 200618 yr Governor This is a rather good vignette Mr Oo7! Start making some Pirate ones now ;-) I do agree with Kiku regarding the upside-down work but apart from that I really like the details of your vig !! What's wrong with the upside down plate?
July 16, 200618 yr What's wrong with the upside down plate? There is nothing wrong there Phes, I just think it leaves a feeling of unfinished vig ;-) Kiku and Yoda, how would you suggest I modify the upside-down canopy? You could either use those tile roof parts, or better put a normal plate (studs up) and have it attach in a nice way to the "wall". Thats the orientations I would explore ;-) *yoda*
July 21, 200618 yr I came across this on Brickshelf and I like it for the most part. I don't like the swords used because they are not medieval looking at all. If you could find them, the silvered large swords would probably be good (there's a gold sword too but I think it was only in a very few sets). The standard sword would also look good. I like the way you used those robot hands to cross the swords.
July 23, 200618 yr Author I came across this on Brickshelf and I like it for the most part. I don't like the swords used because they are not medieval looking at all. If you could find them, the silvered large swords would probably be good (there's a gold sword too but I think it was only in a very few sets). The standard sword would also look good. I like the way you used those robot hands to cross the swords. I do not have two older silver ones in good condition but if I did I'm not sure which one I would use because I like them both the same. The gold sword is in one set, the Orient Expedition Temple of the Mountain, which I don't have. put a normal plate (studs up) and have it attach in a nice way to the "wall". If the studes faced up I couldn't attach the wine glasses. Thanks again for all the suggestions.
July 29, 200618 yr I really like this vignette. The upside-down plate doesn't bother me... though I suppose if you wanted to you could just cover it up with some other plate or a roof of some sort. The foot-bar is really clever, and a nice detail!
July 29, 200618 yr put a normal plate (studs up) and have it attach in a nice way to the "wall". If the studes faced up I couldn't attach the wine glasses. I meant ON the stud down plate d'oh !! Of course, if not the cool effect of the glass holders doesn't exist :-| *yoda*
July 30, 200618 yr Author I have an idea to make the canopy look more finished and I might build it and post it soon even. I like it the way it is but this might make it even better. Thanks for the comments eveyone. ;-)
