Lundgren Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Very nice! I think I have to buy another 42006 and build this! Quote
N-4K0 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 I think he will Oh, I missed that line damn, if he makes instructions, I think I'll have to buy this model and make his bulldozer Quote
Tomik Posted November 24, 2013 Author Posted November 24, 2013 At first thank you all once more for possitive comments! I don't let you wait more - building instructions for bulldozer are already available on buildinst! I'd also like to ask you to fill short survey that will help me with improving buildinst in future. Tomik Posted January 19, 2014 Author Posted January 19, 2014 I've got pull back buggy 42010 as Christmas gift and because it doesn't have any official alternative model I've begun building my own one. At first I've built some kind of sports car. Then I've started creating something bigger and more original - tractor. It was really difficult to build it but I think result is great. Quote
Junpei Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Both models are really awesome, I just love your B-models! I especially like the tractor TLH Quote
Gee Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I've got this little pull back set. Man, I like the looks of those alternatives. Quote
Tomik Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 Thank you for your replies. If you would like to build tractor before I release instructions you can try to do it with help of pictures in buildinst gallery. Quote
unimog123 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Great job on both models! Is the pull back motor strong enough to flip the tractor over because it is a bit top heavy? Quote
Tomik Posted March 3, 2014 Author Posted March 3, 2014 Great job on both models! Is the pull back motor strong enough to flip the tractor over because it is a bit top heavy? It is not strong enough to flip tractor over or at least I've never experienced it. Now let me introduce my latest alternative model - grader. I've built it out of set 8067 (mini mobile crane) as my second alternative model (weeing dog was first). It features front axle steering and blade lifting. I've had to use some extraordinary building technologies to build it due to lack of pins. Cabin is great example of it. Quote
unimog123 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 That's awesome! Truly outstanding. I like how you made up for the lack of pins. Quote
MrTekneex Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) Another masterpiece! Your alternative versions are fantastic! Edited March 3, 2014 by MrTekneex Quote
Tomik Posted March 14, 2014 Author Posted March 14, 2014 Building instructions for sports car, tractor and grader are available on buildinst now. Quote
Tomik Posted August 5, 2014 Author Posted August 5, 2014 I'm glad to introduce you my latest alternative model - skid steer loader built out of set 42024 (container truck). This time I've decided to present it differently - I'd like to show you how I built it before I describe what it features. It all began in January when I've received set 42024 from Jan Beyer. He asked me to build alternative model out of this set. At first I've got idea to create skidder. So I built grapple, jib and gearbox and I've found out that wheels are too small... So I've begun looking for something with smaller wheels and I've found articulated wheel loader. I built bucket and at least ten variants of jib till I've found first that worked well. Then I've found out that wheels are still too small... Finally I've decided to build skid steer loader. There is the first working prototype of loader at next picture. It is combination of chassis based on alternative model of set 8071, jib with bucket, gearbox and outline of cab. Main building process has begun right after dismantling first prototype. I've put together solid chassis and frame of superstructure and install all gearings inside. Loader at next picture looks very close to final model. And this is final model of skid steer loader. It took me half a year to build it. Final version has shorter rear, finished cab with seat and tuned up color scheme. Now let's check what this loader features: front and rear axle steering jib lifting bucket tilting gearbox for switching between functions operated by exhaust pipe easily removable bucket Due to big amount of left over parts I've got idea to add one more tool that would replace bucket - forks. Forks features adjustable width and are supplemented with one pallet where you can put some load (for example last pair of wheels). There are more pictures here. Quote
hrontos Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 (edited) This is great. I like how you make your C-models. Making a C-model reminds me the time 25 years ago. In former Czechoslovakia LEGO was something hard to get, so 600+ pieces Technic model like 8860 was a huge amount of bricks and the creations a man was able to create only from this set were a real challenge comparing to these days when you can order any parts you wish. Rishab N Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Wow great model One of your coolest alternates i think Quote
captainmib Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Wow, great alternate. I like it that you shared the thought and building proces, interesting to see and read. Everytime I see an alternate / C-model I think there is so much more possible with lego than just buying new sets everytime. It's like you discover a different lego world or something :-) Quote
Tomik Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 Thank you for your comments! I'm glad to hear you like my new creation and description of process how I've built it. Everytime I see an alternate / C-model I think there is so much more possible with lego than just buying new sets everytime. It's like you discover a different lego world or something :-) I agree with you. My goal is to show people that you can build so much out of just one set and have fun building with building your own creations. Quote
