Jedi master Brick Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 (edited) I saw a blog on brikipedia about Lotr will we get it at last? Edited May 13, 2011 by Jedi master Brick Quote
Blackknight112 Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 It could be true. But I really doubt there's gonna be one. Quote
Big Cam Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I saw a blog on brikipedia about Lott. Will we get it at last? I don't see a reason why we would? Disney does not own the Lord of the Rings License and they are the main provider of themes to LEGO besides LEGO's in house ones. I would love it as well, but I doubt it, plus this probably should have been in the Culture & Multimedia forum Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 It was probably an April Fools joke, like the LEGO Halo game that was making its rounds last month. Quote

Jedi master Brick Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 It's a bit like star wars battle from 3, not going to happen Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 It's a bit like star wars battle from 3, not going to happen Not really, because BF3, like KOTOR 3 before it, was confirmed to once have been in development and would've been released. This game is very likely not. Quote

Big Cam Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Can I see a link to this article. Magic 8 ball says: Signs point to "no" If there was an article, it's probably been taken down. Quote
simonjedi Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Can I see a link to this article. There isn't one. The company was closed down and the footage was leaked. It looked really good! I think the company was Free Radical. (Or whoever did the Timesplitters series ) Quote
Jedi master Brick Posted May 18, 2011 Author Posted May 18, 2011 One link right up http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:Lego_lord/Guess_what_my_precious%3F It is only rumour. Quote
airsoftg36c Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 I play Lord of the Rings Online.... But that has nothing to do with Lego. I probably wouldn't buy it, since I'm guessing it would be like the Indy and Star Wars games (Which I found to be no fun at all) Quote
fred67 Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 (edited) One link right up http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:Lego_lord/Guess_what_my_precious%3F It is only rumour. That's funny if it's true... why would there be references (only in decompiled code) to other video games as opposed to game engine pieces? But let's say it's true; let's say I'm a developer and I know people examine the hex/ascii codes in my game... so I throw a string in there to make people go crazy; funnyString = "LOTR Development" It gets compiled in with the code. Ha ha... EDIT: I've been searching around for what contextual meaning LOTR could have besides Lord of the Rings; there is a relatively new game engine technology called "Level of Terrain Rendering." Now, LOD (level of detail) has been used since the dawn of video games (or nearly so) and 3D graphics, but apparently this is some new algorithm for terrain. Maybe it's Lord of the Rings... I find it hard to believe for many reasons. I would like to see the next castle theme go back to some fantasy elements, including elves, which would help us complete the LOTR theme (even if it's not called that), and I can easily believe we'll see something like that come along, but not the actual LOTR theme. It'd be nice to be wrong (and, of course, The Hobbit is finally in production), but I'm not optimistic. Edited May 18, 2011 by fred67 Quote
