Captain Green Hair Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Well, certainly this method will not work with Brickbeard's Bounty's hull as it has no screwed top parts. However as bow and stern of that ship are made of two parts each, similar effects can be achieved by switching the top parts, which will be possible as soon as Lego makes another ship with the same hull as Brickbeard's Bounty, only in different colour... I quite like the BB hulls, as they don't have the hole in the bow anymore and it should be easy to make a straight waterline. I haven't tried it's full potential yet, but i am planning on making a ship with it. Wouldn't it be cool if the bowpart came out in black as well, imagine a low straight waterline.. Hmm this is an interesting thing which I'm going to try myself soon. I was advised by CGH to use wide brown hulls with a black trim on it for my ship here, but they don't exist. Now where is my airbrush? I said red tops for the red hulls buddy. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I said red tops for the red hulls buddy. Oh, my mistake. But I think airbrushing is not a bad idea to create a black waterline though. Quote

Captain Blackmoor Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Although... That's the narrow hull, unfortunately there are no large hulls with black trim. The only thing left for me is getting some black paint. Quote
Capt. Kirk Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 (edited) ... these are the colour combinations we can get (top colour given first, then the bottom colour):WIDE HULLS: Originally available: ... Other possibilities (using the procedure): ... NARROW HULLS: Originally available: ... Other possibilities (using the procedure): ... You also can create a white + white (good for a ship of a female pirate (together with the colour gold & red)). White Front Top White Front Bottom - From the Armada Flagship. Dreamweb Posted February 20, 2009 Author Posted February 20, 2009 I'm afraid you cannot make white + white. The top parts of the Armada Flagship hull are blue, and white top parts don't exist - unless they are some rare or unreleased parts. Quote

Captain Blackmoor Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Thanks! I'm glad you confirmed the thing I was worried about. And if I might succeed in painting the hull you'll see the colour is different then LEGO black. Off to another way to solve this problem... Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Some people made the top part black with electrical tape, i think RTN and HMS243 did it quite succesfully. Quote

Legoking Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Interesting. I could use this in the future sometime. Thanks for explaining the whole thing! LegoKing Quote

The second one also says ''blue interior'', i think that explains it. Quote

I don't trust it also... but that's what the guy on BL says. If someone would want to buy these, I advice you to first make contact and ask some explanation before buying. Quote
