Aanchir Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 They're a shade of trans-green. Yep. 49 Transparent Fluorescent Green (Bricklink's Trans-Neon Green). Any digital representation of it tends to look almost identical to Transparent Yellow. I'm a bit unsure whether they'd look good in real life, and considered recommending a change to 43 Transparent Blue (Trans-Dark Blue), which was used in Classic Space at a time Transparent Fluorescent Green hadn't even been introduced, but since the builder specifically chose Transparent Fluorescent Green for a part that they can't have meant to use Transparent Yellow for, I think we can assume it was a deliberate color choice and so not really my business to tamper with. I agree. Though I do own those pieces in trans-green, and I have to say I don't think they'd look that good in real life. In this file it fits perfectly, though. Quote
Calabar Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 ... and considered recommending a change to 43 Transparent Blue (Trans-Dark Blue), which was used in Classic Space at a time Transparent Fluorescent Green hadn't even been introduced ... Agree with that. Besides the side glass wall was TrBlue too, so that the result would be more homogeneous. It could be that the similarity with TrYellow in LDD could have deceived the builder, so that he didn't realize the real difference between these two colours and looking at the 3D model he decided the result was good (as it appear, indeed). As the transparent yellow is a bit rare colour, probably it is impossible to replace the domes with some kind of custom solution. Otherwise, a custom replacement could be a good solution too. Quote
moop2000 Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 It could be that the similarity with TrYellow in LDD could have deceived the builder, so that he didn't realize the real difference between these two colours and looking at the 3D model he decided the result was good (as it appear, indeed). My original reason for using the color I did was due to an earlier design idea that I eventually scrapped. And while the blue might be a more homogenous choice, I wanted a contrasting color, and I kind of like the Neon Green myself. But that being said, I would be happy to change it, I can see how that much Neon could be a bit much. Thoughts/suggestions? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 16, 2011 Author Posted July 16, 2011 Just leave it as-is. It looks fine to me, and I've already uploaded, PMed, and taken screenshots of that file. Quote
Lego Otaku Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Yeah leave it as is. It looks yellow in LDD and the part is legal even though it'd look odd if someone tried to build a real one. Quote
MattTheLegoman Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Trans-Neon Green = interesting and awesome colour choice. BtW I am back from StormCo, and am ready to start my addition (to be completed by tomorrow). I will see if I can compliment the Neon Green. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted July 17, 2011 Author Posted July 17, 2011 Ooooohhh goody goody, almost my turn :D Explosions, fire, death, destruction muhahahahahahahaha Ahem: Against my better judgment you are not allowed to set the RCB on fire. (or other similar inappropriate additions, and, of course, you may use fire where appropriate, such as rocket engines) I reserve the right to remove anything that is inappropriate for the model. prateek Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Foreign planets don't really have oxygen in their atmospheres, so fire would be physically impossible Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 17, 2011 Author Posted July 17, 2011 (edited) Foreign planets don't really have oxygen in their atmospheres, so fire would be physically impossible Not if you pressurize a building with a mixture including oxygen and set a fire inside it. Or if you cause an explosion involving a tank of oxygen. Like if you have tanks of liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen, and cause a failure somewhere in the piping that causes something to fill with the two, and set off a spark inside...No wait, that's against the rules. EDIT: Or if the outpost came under attack, there could be explosions caused by explosive missiles and the like, but that's also against the rules. And there's no second faction in the Classic Space theme. Edited July 17, 2011 by Brickdoctor Quote

And besides, what do you know about foreign planets that we don't know? You sure they don't have oxygen ? Edited July 17, 2011 by BasOne Quote
MattTheLegoman Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 (edited) Currently I have made an interesting quick transport from a tower to the HANGAR.But I need a ladder going down from the roof. Here is what I have changed -1 brick -1 brick 1 brick moved +1 brick +1 brick I will not be changing anything else that other people have made. The change allows me to add the ladder. P.S. As I am working on this build I have found that: Black is Security Red is Pilots White is Explorer Yellow ? (4 doing nothing) Blue ? (1 Blue is piloting a vehicle near the command module) I also think that you should not feel like you have to conform to this colour of suits. (All the people in the station would be highly trained in everything space) P.P.S. I can't seem to use this brick on Peeron: 91501 (search for it in LDD Extended Mode) So I suppose I will find something else to use P.P.P.S. Finished Edited July 18, 2011 by MattTheLegoman Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 18, 2011 Author Posted July 18, 2011 And besides, what do you know about foreign planets that we don't know? You sure they don't have oxygen ? Ahem: Eurobricks' Third LDD RCB will, by popular vote, be a Classic Space-themed outpost located on the Moon. A total of twenty builders will contribute additions to the build of up to 250 bricks to complete this model. Currently I have made an interesting quick transport from a tower to the HANGAR.But I need a ladder going down from the roof. Here is what I have changed -1 brick -1 brick 1 brick moved +1 brick +1 brick Perfectly fine. That's within the rules. Quote
Calabar Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I can't seem to use this brick on Peeron: 91501 Can't find this brick code on peroon too. Are you sure it is the right one? Quote
MattTheLegoman Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Can't find this brick code on peroon too. Are you sure it is the right one? Gah! I meant find it on Peeron. Sorry for the misconception. It is only in Extended Mode (not in Universe). Perhaps it is a new brick coming soon? Regardless I didn't end up using it or needing it. Quote
Calabar Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Oh, I misunderstood. Peeron is very slow to update bricks and sets, so it is possible the brick has not been added still. Or, perhaps, it is a number issue: lego numbers and peeron ones not always match. Probably the first, using peerons search I can't see a "panel 2 x 2 corner" while the piece is on catalog in Bricklink. Quote

CorneliusMurdock Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 File received and downloaded. I'm currently looking through it and trying to decide what to add. Quote
SilentMode Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Very nice work! The hovering vehicle was a particularly nice touch. Quote
