March 5, 20195 yr Whenever we may see the next in-house "Adventurers" theme come around, here are a few different directions I'd like to see it head: First and foremost, I'd LOVE to see such a theme take inspiration from pulpy "love letter" fare such as the 2004 film Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and Xbox's 2003 videogame Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, something set in an alternate history inspired after the pulp fiction/science fiction of the 1930's with an emphasis on aviation. Ya know, ragtag for-hire aviators pitted against a mad scientist baron and his army of mechanical flying men, racing to find some ancient Mayan doomsday device before the antagonist does. On the other hand, an "Adventurers" theme inspired after the work of Jules Verne is my second favorite idea, set during a timeline or fictional universe taken after anywhere from the Victorian Industrial Age to World War I. From the depths of the ocean, to the bowels of the Earth, and around the world, a theme like this could go a very long way! Also, how about a modern take on the theme, one with a titular hero inspired after Tomb Raider's Lara Croft, Uncharted's Nathan Drake, and the such? Lastly, I'd still wouldn't mind seeing a less derivative revival of the original theme, though next time around with more of an anthological approach. By that, I mean that each wave isn't confined to a single location, but rather that the setting vary from set to set, much like 2008's Agents theme. So, you wishes may come true. What ever happened to this? How did you hear about it, and could you elaborate further?
March 9, 20195 yr Well it seems that I was wrong. Information was from retailer and usualy reliable. From looking at this now, I think that most likely she talked about Monster Fighters.

Both of those themes which came out that same year do fit into the "Adventurers" criteria somewhat (at least according to my own personal criteria), and are amusing in hindsight seeing what some others here hoped to see as a successor to Pharaoh's Quest: On 6/20/2011 at 2:18 PM, badboytje88 said: I'd go for dinoland! So, here's another interesting question for everybody: Which broader Action/Adventure genre would you personally consider a hypothetical period-set underwater exploration playtheme inspired after Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea to be a part of? Adventurers, Underwater/Aquazone, or both?
April 20, 20195 yr I would like to get something that is more based on an Adventurer type theme. Maybe even have a little bit of a crossover with the original crew by having Doctor Charles Lightning in the Professor Pierre Aronnax role. Thinking on things: I would enjoy something that encompasses Greek Mythology, tracking down relics or artefacts related to ancient heroes while tangling with the creatures and monsters made famous in the same stories. Whether we get new characters or the old favourites, I do not mind. However a return to Adventure! would be welcome.

I think it'd be cool if the next "Adventurers" theme included Johnny Thunder not as the main character, but rather in a senior, mentor-type role as a secondary character, hence pushing up the playtheme into the 1940's-1950's ten to twenty years after the presumed time setting of the original theme set during the 1920's-1930's.
April 21, 20195 yr Ah, I was looking at it being set in a similar era to the novel, so Doctor Lightning would be younger than he was in the original Adventure sets.

Oh, I see now, so you're suggesting an "Adventurers" theme inspired after 20,000 Leagues would chronologically act as a prequel to the original Adventurers theme! Personally, I wasn't figuring such a theme could follow the novel that closely, as I had in mind more of a premise that was a bit looser by primarily adopting just its general concepts, making it more of a generalized, period-set fantastical Aquazone/Adventurers theme. But hey, a more faithful approach could be kinda cool!
August 1, 20195 yr So, it may not be full-on rebirth just yet, but until then... BricksFanz - LEGO Minifigures Series 19 Official Images
