alex54 Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 lool that is a PERFECT summary of the set :-D ;-) I really don't know why... I like to spend a lot of money for a train like that :-D Definitally, not for me! Quote
gylman Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I think you guys are being a bit harsh. I think this train has a chance to pull some new people into Lego trains. Many families buy a train to put around the Xmas tree around here. It is almost a bit of a tradition I see all the supermarkets selling "christmas trains" in Nov/Dec, usually costing 30-50 dollars. It is too expensive for sure, but I think there will be some people who are already intersted in Lego, who see this train, they might buy it as a "christmas train". Me included. I will buy this unless the price is insane. And, also, from the point of view of children, it looks fun. There is only the "small problem" of no rails and no motor. >:-( Quote

I have never seen a Xmas train around a Xmas tree in the houses I went to during the holidays (family, friends). Maybe it is more an American tradition? Dunno... But if this trains make more people buying lego trains, TLC will probably continues to develop this line (after the news of a creator train set). Quote

I'm pretty sure that's a North American or Canadian thing. I think that's important to realize: The creator train and this train suggest that Lego really is taking its trains seriously, more seriously than they have for a few years. This should be all good new for train lovers (which I have not been until now..... we shall see). Quote
BillytheKid Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 It's a very cool set, which I want also in my collection. I modify this train to 12v, which I did also with set 3225. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=177660 Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I wonder if TLC will buy new licenses for train like they did with the Santa Fe, the BNSF and the TTX rail car !! Those were fantastic sets !! *yoda* Quote

Those were fantastic sets !! *yoda* It will be really cool to see a TGV, the new one with red sits designed by the I-don't-remember-the-name-of-this-dressmaker. But if there are new "licences" for trains, it will be an american one :'-( ... (Those Europeans, always complaining! :-D ) Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Found a pic "review" of that chrismassie train on a Brickshelf gallery Enjoy ;-) Oh and Alex, I wouldn't mind US licences for trains ;-) I think they do produce old classic beautifull engines ;-) But a real TGV would be awsome (will probably will never happen though |-/ ) *yoda* Quote
Hobbes Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Found a pic "review" of that chrismassie train on a Brickshelf gallery Chrismessy would be a better term >:-) And what is the Ester Bunny doing on a christmas train..? Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Indeed, like the Easter Bunny >:-) :-P They should have thrown a skellie in to make Halloween as well :-D The Multi Holydays Train ride !! Yeayyy :-P Quote
Hobbes Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Indeed, like the Easter Bunny >:-) :-P Dammit, I always triple check >:-( They should have thrown a skellie in to make Halloween as well :-D The Multi Holydays Train ride !! Yeayyy :-P That certainly would fit TLC's cost saving plan... Quote
Freddie Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Well, this is interesting. I hope this set gets on S@H, even if I live in an "outside" country. I have contacts in Sweden, and I can always wait with the R/C trains. Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 special christmass train. Just seen this on lugnet but nobody knows a thing about it.http://www.br-eng.info/words/?page_id=29&ins_qry=10173 http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/spacekad...ets/10173-1.jpg That's one ugly looking train. Does the train company pay the passengers? Quote
STARWARS LEGO! Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 The passangers are all robber style faces! can it carry any normal people ? and please some one take a picture of the gift's from the gift carage ;-) . Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Have any of you purchased this set yet or are planning to do so? The more and more I look at it, it just has too many colors for me. lego could have offered a much better Christmas train. Quote
PaulC Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 I actually don't think the Engine is too bad, or at least, it's pretty cool after a very small amount of modding. I posted pics of my mods on the other thread for this set *wacko* but no-one seemed to notice, so here they are again! X-D Instead of buying the set, I just built a copy from my own bricks, and was careful to leave out ALL THE WHITE and holiday decorations. I think perhaps the other wagons could be made good with similar mods. It was easy to adapt for 9v too. I put a motor in the tender, as the motor won't fit in the engine because of the faux pistons (which is one of the coolest details on the set, so I didn't want to remove them). Click on the pic below for more images on my Flickr gallery. Quote
