Posted May 31, 201113 yr So while sorting through my Castle minifig population, I found several shields, helmets, etc. I ran out of. After placing close to $900 in BL orders, I discovered various caches of parts that I did not know I had. Apparently, I already owned many of the things I placed orders for. Finding those parts was both exhilarating and depressing. While it's fun to discover Lego you never knew you owned, it's sad to think that your collection has spiralled so out of control that you can't keep track of large amounts of Lego. All told, I spent over $200 on new orders for unique parts that I will never have a need for. Among the things I found included: - a $385 BL order from February that I forgot to ever open consisting of mostly helmets - two baggies filled with misc. SW figs - 4 copies of Batman's flying wing - a box half-filled with old castle service packs: Edited May 31, 201113 yr by madoka
May 31, 201113 yr Hmmm... No offence, but you might have a problem. You have $1000 worth of Lego that you forgot about. Edited May 31, 201113 yr by prateek

May 31, 201113 yr While I have not done this with Lego, I did do it with another hobby I was in. So I can empathise with your feelings.
May 31, 201113 yr Great find! I too buy pieces I never will use, the reason why is because I may find a idea or way to use them in a future moc.
May 31, 201113 yr All I ever forgot was related to orders shipped but not yet arrived. Apparently the 'I wanted to order' and 'I ordered' boxes are close to each other in my brain or something. Once the stuff is in my hand, it's no problem anymore, I manage to remember those better. Luckily, I only have dupes of small, cheap items, and only a handful, so it's not like with madoka.
June 1, 201113 yr I've started BL orders for a specific set of parts and ended up 'browsing' myself into a larger basket. Sometimes its standard parts that are always useful, other times i just see a few bits that might be useful for future. The danger for me comes when i work through a wishlist for a project and part way through an order see some cool parts that send me off on another new idea, which then prompts a new order for the other parts to that one and so the cycle continues. A few weeks back i filled out an order i needed with extra parts only to find i already had most of them. Doh. Not on the same scale money-wise though, but still a face-palm moment.
June 1, 201113 yr Nice find! If only I could find stuff like this in my garage I wish I had a garage to find that kind of stuff in!
